  1. I did think there was a period in the first half where he was starting to understand the league better. That little dribble and ball to Riviere is the sort thing he can do. Just seemed to lose whatever confidence he may have had, after half an hour or so. His style of dribbling is interesting. His best work comes when he receives the ball at pace and then commits players or when wriggling through a crowd. It's all about drawing players in and using his footwork to get around them. However, when the onus is on him to speed the play up then he's not so good as he lacks the necessary acceleration. In a ponderous set up like ours, he's not well suited. Ironically, I think going 4-4-2 and having a striker that can combine with him in the channels would help his game.
  2. He's not even trying to play his style of football, mind. This is his shit attempt to be continental. Might as well just go 4-4-2 and super direct, it's about the best he can do.
  3. I think that's me done. Wow.
  4. He looks like Lamela did in his first few games (well, year), almost cautious. They're actually not that different in style. This often how it is for players that come here that aren't the most natural of athletes. He will get his head round it, good players generally do.
  5. He had a bright period in the first then seemed to revert to the shell he's been over the last 4 games.
  6. I thought Pardew only attended training towards the end of the week? Sure someone on here said he's often back down South between Monday and Wednesday.
  7. Persistence will be key. Sheep will be swayed eventually, just need to keep on chipping away. Still, terrific work, so far, from these guys.
  8. I thought he was better, moved the ball quicker than he has and didn't dwell as much. Still a long way to go for him.
  9. Fuck's sake. Worst result possible. That'll have prolonged the dickhead's reign.
  10. Well, Pardew had us unbeaten for 10 games a couple of years ago, really doesn't mean much. I thought Lambert had a bit in his locker but he seems very much a counter merchant. They were actually worse than us when we played them.
  11. This is so close, now. Unbelievable how excited I am. Not seen my Dad this passionate in years, either
  12. I think Neville understands the tactical side of the game very well. The 'human' side, however, is something he's not strong at and his assumptions can be very misguided, as a result. He's still better than the vast majority, sadly.
  13. They're not that comparable as players, like. Very different strengths.
