What a goal for Hull by Giovanni
-
Certainly was a terrible decision

This is so disappointing because I felt we owed Blackburn after they nicked that win here at the end of last season.

Oh my god. If it all goes wrong again, all the mongs are going to be outside SJP doing impressions like the Spanish Olympic Basketball team

Load of shite. Have Pompey, West Ham etc sold their soul? They're both owned by foreign owners, just not multi billionaires. The soul of a club always will be the fans. So Chelsea have no soul then. Their fan base has changed massively over the last 10-15 years
-
A large part of me agrees with your last comment and all through the summer, I kept telling people at work here in Birmingham that all the stories about him trying to sell the club were complete rubbish and that Ashley is here for the long run. This whole mess has just put too many doubts in my head, about him and Keegan.

TV was quoted earlier as having met NUFC representatives (from Skysports website, c/o The Sun)

You see, i have absolutely no right saying what you've put is right or wrong so i wont, (although my view is different to yours) but i would say that you've over simplified one aspect of your argument and thats the bit about Ashley selling, you've forgotten to mention that he felt he and his family were unsafe in the place he owned, a fear that was backed up by the assault on a lookalike. To me, that puts a huge slant on your final point. Would you risk the safety of your family knowing it was a very real possilbity? Does anyone even consider that he may of felt that he'd already done alot for the club and may of felt that he deserved more support? In principle I agree that if you ever feel that you are in a situation whereby your family are in anyway under potential threat, then that situation is best avoided. I certainly woudl not want my daughter subjected to anything like that. However, my cynical side says to me that they did absolutely nothing, not one single thing, to try and calm the situation. The only thing we heard from them in the interim period was the "fact" statement which did nothing more than inflame the already growing unrest and anger. Personally I think that was deliberate. Again, looking at his apparent "I dont give a toss, I will do what I want attitude" doesnt marry up with his "i am not going to the ground I am scared" response. He also didnt have to take his family to the matches during the period of unrest. I know he said he just wanted to enjoy the whole football experience and just have some fun but as the owner of the club, I believe he had a responsibility to act as such (when appropriate) and not always just be the "club owning, one of the lads, Mike Ashley"

Villa fan at work who went last night told me this today. I couldnt believe it. He said he spent the whole night arguing with the blokes on either side of him as they spent the whole 90 minutes moaning about how shite Villa were. Some fans dont know how lucky they are

Is it fair to say that there isnt a Manager on the planet that will agree to a match-by-match contract We're fucked
-
The way I read it (of course with none of this being fact) is that : Keegan wanted certain things, asked Ashley for them, Ashley stood firm, said no and Keegan walked Ashley wants a supposed £400 million for the club. Some parties offer a price way under this figure, Ashley stood firm, said no and didnt turn up for certain meetings Venables wanted a longer term contract, Ashley stood firm, said no, Venables turns us down. Fans demonstrate, say "get out", Ashley's legs give way and he says hs is going to give us what we want within 24 hours and without even trying to fight or to reason with the sections that demonstrated. It just doesnt stack up against every other piece of evidence of who he is and how he goes about things. He appears to be very headstrong and will stick with what he wants, what he believes and wont give an inch to anyone. For me, the reaction to the fans is totally out of character which leads me to think that it was all just a deliciously convenient excuse for him to get out.
-
If Ashley was so quick to give the fans "what they want", why wont he give Venables "what he wants".
-
Yup. So from reports suggesting they they wont budge on the sale price, to tonights reports that they wont give Venables a longer deal than the one they were offering. At what point will Ashley give a little and work with a potential buyer/manager to find a solution to this mess. Surely he isnt saying to every party concerned, "take it or leave it" because surely everyone is going to leave it.

I am just grateful to know that something is happening
-
Wouldnt have said it would be the worst thing that could happen. Certainly could do with going into Saturday knowing we have some sort of manager. Think he would have enough about him to guide to getting a few points - if its stays as is, I dont see us getting any in the foreseeable.
-
Law of averages had it that Spurs must be close to beating us sometime soon. Rather it tonight than in the league. Mind they will probably turn us over again judging by the way things are going. There had better be some positive news on a buyer tomorrow

Bloody hell just seen the other scores Villa out. Man City losing in ET to Brighton
-
And so the clubs value and sellability drops that little bit further
