Statement proves this was bollocks anyway. As said, Golfmag has been played. He definitely knows this by now. Might feel less animosity against it if it wasn’t for his pompous Tweet in reply to Luke Edwards. He's guilty of putting too much faith in whoever his contact was. He might want to twist it that his source was mistaken but I think whoever it was, has taken the piss out of him and played him on behalf of their mates at the PL. They were probably pissing themselves when they saw it on Twitter.

Her request for fans to now do their part. That's all. There's nothing we can do. Yeah, that bit is puzzling indeed. I can only Guess she hoped it might pressure the premier league into a u-turn. Interesting precedent they have set with this though. Is the reason not just down to PR? Shifts the focus off them and plays right into the boiling ill-will of fans toward the Premier League, engulfs the media's attention in picking apart the fallout too. I seriously doubt she believed the deal could be resurrected, more of a case of not looking totally inept. Surely she'd know though, that eventually, the truth would come out. She could end up looking more silly than just being honest in the first instance. Sure it will, but the momentum from the initial shock-and-awe withdrawal announcement has been somewhat sapped away, wouldn't you agree? The national press have largely moved onto covering the European finals currently going on and transfer sagas. Getting some space away from that time-period still works out better than none at all Plus she (and the other parties) have been able to dictate a relentless PR charm offensive in the meantime, all shaped to discredit the Premier League's objectivity in regards to the process, rather than allowing (much) attention to circulate on the weaknesses in their bid. Consequently, it's led a lot of the fanbase to become completely entrenched behind the viewpoint that NUFC have been victimized, lowering the chances that the same fans would form the opinion that they've actually been let down by the consortium in how they've conducted themselves through the process. Yeah they'd look silly even now, but the blistering fallout isn't as severe Just my take on it anyway That's a very fair assessment and very well done on their part of that's what they've done

What a barrel of laughs next season is going to be.

Penn comes in here with the attitude that we are all idiots for ever believing this deal was ever going to happen and mocks people for offering ideas as to what is going on. What Penn has failed to do on several occasions, is offer an opinion on why, if the deal was so clearly never going to happen, they think the PL has not rejected it outright.

I know you're wrong. Because someone told Caulkin, who told someone your missus works with, who told you? Hearing things first hand from No Red Flags George has proved to be absolutely worthless, so not sure 3rd/4th/5th-hand info is grounds to be confident. Tell us more about Redbird Capital, oh great Oracle.

Fucking aye. I was in the back row. Was crazy how much it moved.

His first against Wimbledon. So much anticipation on his first home game. Match itself was absolutely shite

Ashley? Masters

If this is the case, it beggars belief that the PL can be allowed to get away with this course of action, given the money at stake. Does seem like they will get away with it though. This is quite a comical comment I know, given the talk about corruption etc, but can the buyers go to UEFA or FIFA to appeal ?

I'm sure the PL would much rather paying Ashley a settlement fee than getting dragged through court, but could the PL afford a fee substantial enough to make Ashley not pursue legal action? Ashley is out of pocket anything up to and around at least £100 million - this number comes from the determination that the current takeover agreement was for £300 million and the estimate is that any new valuation (post COVID19) for NUFC would likely be substantially less than that (e.g. around £200 million or less, the difference being the £100 million). So, if he pursued the PL in the courts then he would likely seek damages of around £100 million + legal costs. Other conversations have suggested that the buying consortium might sue the PL to recover their £17 million deposit (I won't address the legitimacy or otherwise of that claim here), but there have also been suggestions that having to pay out £17 million would likely bankrupt the League. So, if the PL wanted to pay out Ashley (to prevent a court case), how much could the PL afford? Could the PL afford a large enough payout to make Ashley go away (e.g. £10 million would only be 10% of Ashley's likely/potential claim), without bankrupting themselves? The PL have assets of around £400,000 and a turnover of around £3m (their acounts are freely available on Companies House). It could be that the clubs would be asked to step in to bail them out but the Premier League Ltd would not be likely to be able to afford to pay out much. You're looking at the wrong accounts. (not that it matters, because Ashley suing the Premier League is another fantasy scenario that people are believing in because it's a comforting, rather than realistic, thought) Feeling ready to take part in an adult conversation yet Penn[/member] ? I'm still (genuinely) interested to hear your opinion on why you think the PL haven't outright rejected it.
