  1. I felt a feeling of anti-climax about the trophy presentation. They reckon the players chose the songs accompanying the lap of honour, but for me they should have stopped the music after we are the champions. It just drowned out any noise from the fans and put people off singing. They should have left it to us to make the noise.

  2. Thrashed Huddersfield 5-1

Scorers: Vuckic (2), Dummett, Airey, Morris

Bugger! Always works out that way when i can't be bothered to drag myself along. That'll teach me i suppose.

  3. I can understand plymouth fans being annoyed with our celebratory songs played after the game, but i for one certainly respect Plymouth fans for the way they handled the situation. If we'd witnessed a pitch invasion by away fans in our back yard after being relegated, i think there would have been a riot.

Thank you Plymouth for maintaining your dignity in difficult circumstances.

  4. The smoggies eh? Pathetic performance in front of a pathetic away following. There were more stewards than boro fans in that section. As usual no favours from them. They've have never in my recollection gave us any help when we've wanted them to get a result. Well this time we don't need their help, and at least this result means they'll be hanging around the championship for at least another year.

  5. Champions, although I love unbeaten series :smug:

By the way, does anybody know if we'll be given the trophy after (or before) Ipswich game? I don't remember anyone celebrating away from home with the trophy, champagne etc., so even if we win or draw at Plymouth we might wait for the following  game to celebrate the title. Or not?

I badly want to see us lift the trophy after the Ipswich game. Would add to a party atmosphere hopefully. Over the years, the team has went round the pitch to acknowledge the fans, after achieving nothing in that particular season. It's been a lap of dis-honour sometimes. It will be nice to see them come round with a pot, even if it is only the championship trophy. It shouldn't be be-littled as all you can do is win the thing.

  6. think the club should dish out flags again and bring the Graham Danby the opera singer back as well.  Atmosphere is going to be cracking.

Aye, get the flags out and make it a sea of black and white. Hopefully it'll be a sunny day and the championship trophy gleaming, while the fans are loud and proud. It may be a struggle next season, but let's make a day of it next Saturday.

  7. you just have to look at the middle tier of the Leazes to see where the empty seats are.  Midweek game against a bottom half club and its empty in there.

That small section at the back of the Leazes, under the balcony of level 7, used to be the family section. Then, i think it was given over to the corporates. That obviously failed, as it's always empty. Next season, it will again be a slightly more expensive extension of the family section.

  8. Anyone who went last time we were there have any idea how long it will take to get back to the station afterwards, what with needing to get buses from the ground? What train are people going into Paddington afterwards aiming for?

Maybe i was at the wrong bus stop after the game last time, but couldn't manage to get on one. They were all chocka. Gave up and got a taxi after a while.

    How much did that cost?

ElDiablo I think that train you mentioned is a bit optimistic with it being a 8pm kick off.

    £9, if i remember correctly.

  9. Off work next week so I will trundle on up to Darsley to watch the 2nd string play the Boro at 2pm. Would imagine there will be a good splattering of 1st teamers watching the game with this kick off time.

I'm off work this week too, but didn't even know the game was on, as i've been ill all weekend. I didn't even have the energy to log on to my PC. The times i've stood freezing, watching the reserves and youth teams. It would have been nice to watch on such a glorious day, despite the result.

  11. Undoubtedly proud. Granted it's not the premiership trophy or FA cup, but it's there to be won and i think we'll win it. Let's enjoy it.

Really looking forward to one hell of a lap of honour after the Ipswich game, hopefully parading a bit of silverware with SJP rocking.

  12. I can't believe how choosy i'm being here, because at the start of the season, i thought we'd finish mid-table at best. If we don't do it Saturday, when i won't be there, i'm going to be at our next 3 fixtures and would love to be present when we clinch promotion.

If we are up before KO on Monday, due to Forest losing their 5:15 KO v Cardiff, it would seem a bit of an anti-climax. Again i'm being far too choosy. Let's just get up ASAP.

  13. Anyone see the mackems goals on Look North? Fraizer Campbell kicked the advertising board in the corner of the ground after scoring, a kind of watered down Ketsbia style celebration. The thing is, his foot went through the board and he had his foot stuck for about 30 seconds. You could see him start to panic a bit. Tit.

  14. I know loads of people who are going in the home end. They're not likely to cause any trouble, so I don't really see the issue. It's not like they are taking up seats that boro fans would normally use.

    Thats clearly not the point

All it takes is one or two big mouths to drag the rest in.

The people I'm talking about aren't the biggest singers or rowdiest anyway, so I'm 99% sure they'll be well behaved.

Have you stopped to consider that the boro fans around them may not care how placid they are? This may be a shock but there has been unprovoked attacks on people before in this country.

True. They hate us with a passion, probably more than they love their own team. They'll not think twice about setting about any Toon fans, regardless of what they're doing. This is their cup final. Saddos that they are.
