Remy will make a difference. He's by no means the perfect solution but he's a technically good footballer with a brain. He's the first striker we've had in a while that can score goals and play a bit as well. I bloody well hope so. I don't think I can handle Cisse running around like a headless chicken and Shola just being Shola until January.

Basically given how we play, we're crying out for a striker that can hold up the ball and win headers. Unless Pardew goes, any other kind of striker wouldn't make a massive amount of difference. Defoe is not that kind of striker. I'd rather we went for Rickie Lambert if we were going to sign an English striker.

What really fucks me off about this is that whilst Baines, Fellani et al continue to play and prove their worth, every time Cabaye doesn't play it weakens our position and essentially lessens his value. However saying that, the opposite also appears to be true for Gomis who most be the only player in football history who seems to be worth more the closer he gets to his contract expiring. What the hell is it with this club?

Pretty much the same as most home performances last year. We've seemingly learnt little and worked on nothing. Thought people are being a bit harsh on Debuchy. Wins as many headers as I've ever seen a 'proper' full-back and gets so little cover from the midfield it's unreal. Yeah he got done for pace once or twice but didn't think it was a particularly bad performance.

Yeah colinmk reminded me of another I loved as a kid, shirt hung out Chris Waddle style (albeit I was too young for his Toon days, remember him at Sheff Weds). http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VWGof-zXooo/THZ-8Jw1JGI/AAAAAAAAGe4/zPOvr8wN5zg/s1600/01-WADDLE+Chris+Panini+Newcastle+1985.png It's weird, I didn't have too many Newcastle ones I can remember as a kid. I had a relative playing for Toon who I looked up to and really loved some of the others but never really pretended to be them on the playground. Think I was a bit of a sucker for the continental type of winger and Waddle having been at Marseille had that extra bit of swagger. So him and Hassler. Think I always knew my left was too crap to pretend to be Ginola.

Rumours of Victor Moses on loan to Palace. Would be a good loan signing for most Prem clubs. (i.e.. US).

It was the same with Colo when nobody knew what was going on in his personal life which meant he may be leaving the club. The amount of shit people gave him on this forum was unreal. Even claiming he was faking his back injury at the tailend of last season. Now he's said he's staying it wouldn't surprise me if the same people are praising him, stating he's easily the clubs best defender and never really wanted to leave. At least have some consistency. We don't really know what happened with Cabaye, but like the Given situation, considering how much of a joke we are currently I don't blame him for turning his head when Arsenal and PSG came calling.

To be honest, considering how poor Ben Arfa's tracking was, I can understand his reasoning for not playing someone like Marv yesterday. However at home against West Ham they both have to be starting.
-
Exactly the same as last season, he's just not capable of holding the ball up or winning headers when our only outlet to him is direct. We were shambolic last night and he was totally isolated. I think to blame his performance on Wonga woes or anything else is incredibly harsh. We were shit, he was shit. I barely think any strikers in the world could have done a whole lot with the junk we were throwing at him.

I know City are good and even with a new manager fully expected to be outclassed, it was just the fact the 'team' still looks so much like a bunch of strangers playing in the same shirts. Considering how long we've had that's really worrying. If Pardew goes I have absolutely no faith that Ashley would bring in the right man. Nothing Pardew's said or done in the last 12 months convinces me he's cut out to be a top-level football coach but I still fear Ashley could make it even worse. Yey to the new football season.

I really think a cheese sandwich could manage City to a top four position with that squad.

Missus knew what was coming, she's made me a steak for dinner!

What two goals down, a man down, a player injured and one of our best players not even in the squad! Staring down the barrel of a humiliation if Man City fancy it. Taylor suspended for three games, Jonas potentially out for a few and we're not losing by double figures. Better than expected. Would be better if the entire team weren't playing like strangers but I don't want to be too greedy.
-
To be fair it's actually gone better than I'd expected.

Ah well, at least we don't get our money from hating homosexuals and slavery* Zero hour contracts excepted.

On the plus side the referee hasn't stopped it yet.

Sissoko I didn't say he made the right choice, I'm just saying Anita may not have been it -

Anita would get destroyed by the strength and power of Toure. At least Jonas is wiry enough to be annoying. -
Would bloody love Rosicky here.

Have read the bid is around £12m. (Sky Sources)

Why when I see that do I worry about getting the ball from our back five to them?

I'm just happy to see our players get over the line and enter the pitch area. I'm also hoping the ball crosses the line and at the end of the game the players get back over the line ready for our next game.
