Agree the above, obviously, but there must be more to it (more "ambitions / desires") to motivate him to buy us, than money. Put simply, if he wanted to just (continue to) make money - would he have invested in a football club?? It's not rocket science... SPORTS MERCHANDISING BUSINESS + FOOTBALL CLUB = BIGGER MARKET Yes, publicity, etc . . . it all makes sense and adds up to a need to be SUCCESSFUL. The point of this thread is, though, an opportunity was missed to provide a bit more (non-contentious) information. (PS, I am a Rocket Scientist . . . ) Information is power...power leads to fear...fear leads to the dark side. I work with a lot of people who operate like that . . . not me of course . . .

Don't you think it's high time the man who's just taken over the football club we all support, or in this case his second in command, came out and told us what his plans are with his new acquisition? I for one am very curious about his level of commitment to bringing us success or otherwise, and find it rather strange that we, as fans, haven't demanded to be informed of this earlier, before Mr Ashley got hold of our club immeadiatly. We are after all his ´customers´ and in the middle of season ticket renewal.. THIS WILL BE VERY INTERESTING. I am certain he will cover most, hopefully all, of: (1) His Role. (2) Shepherds Role. (3) Ashley's Role. (4) Ashley's 'general' aims and 'general' plans for the club (Premier League Champions / Winning Champions League - or whatever . . . ) Does he (Ashley) see us as being Englands most successful club, long term . . . or just 'competing' at the top with others. (5) Some 'specific' short-term objectives (next season). (6) Hopefully, some 'specific' (time-related) longer-term objectives. (7) Re-development / extension of the ground (Shepherds £300M plans for Conference Centres, Hotels, etc). 8 De-listing the club from the LSE (when and WHY). (9) That money (additional over NUFC earned-income) will be put in to facilitate player purchases - but NO specific figures will be given!! All of the above, and more that I cannot bring directly to mind, are things that I have wanted to know about ever since the Ashley takeover was first mooted. I would find all this very (very) interesting (cannot understand why any of us would not!) and I think that for the FIRST TIME we will actually KNOW (not newspaper speculation) some stuff about our club's likely future, by tomorrow morning!! I take it all back!! I saw it as an opportunity to put a bit more 'flesh on the bones' by providing information to combat speculation. That did not really happen - ah well - speculation continues!
  8. That is not the point. The point is (largely) about parochial (non-thinking/automatic) Cockney-based journalism - in a NATIONAL newspaper. (That is my point, anyway). We know the figures are wrong, why were they published without query?

Bort?? Aww man. "We need more Bort licence plates in the gift shop..." "Bort, Bort? Who calls their son Bort???" "I'm Bort!" "Are you talking to me?" "No my son is named Bort also" etc... Lets "abort" this line of comments! Anyone know when "Wednesday morning" actually is? In the next 2 and a half hours I guess. Aye!
  10. Yeah, we all know that as we have been in Europe almost every season since we joined the Premier League, we will have earned huge amounts more than Spurs overall - but the problem is last season. How can they have earned (according to the Cockney-based papers) "10 TIMES" (almost exactly) what we earned? They cannot. Why was it printed?? Why was it not queried - or, at least, 'commented on'?? howay man, 'cause it's spurs don't you know? surely you've heard that they sign every player cheaper than anyone else could have and pay them less - they only join spurs due to the allure of the seven sisters road and surrounding palatial areas therefore it stands to reason they'd get 10 times more income than us for playing one more game doesn't it? Used to live near 'Seven Sisters'. I think you and I must have the same definition of 'palatial', in this case!! How (does anyone know) can we find out the real figures? I have just responded to the 'online comments' section of the Daily Mail, asking them if they queried the "strange" respective Spurs/Newcastle figures? I am not holding my breath!

  14. I think we would see off any competition. It all depends on whether the Russians want rid, or not?
  15. my thoughts - it's bollocks if you ask me. It sounds like a load of sh*te. We were on TV (full length live coverage) every round - Spurs were not. We only played in one less round (in fact in the same number of rounds if you take into account Spurs 'bye'). The "prize money' for one extra round cannot be that different either (?) It is just "typical" of the Cockney-based (so called NATIONAL) media to 'just' accept this junk (obviously wrong) and to publish it (obviously wrong) without seeming-question. If the shortfall was about a Cockney club (eg Tottenham 'overhyped' Hotspur) they would have either queried it or just not printed it. For us - they just "accept" it at face value, without bothering their silly Cockney grey-cells. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE ACTUAL REAL "NATIONAL NEWSPAPERS" IN THIS COUNTRY. ANYONE THINK WE WILL EVER GET ANY??

I think that is one thing he will not tell us. I do not expect Ashley/Mort will ever reveal how much is in the (player purchase) budget! I would not want them to, either. That would be "one big mistake" (and one I am sure they will not make!)
  17. and possibly european football What's that got to do with anything? If 'world class' players, or at least very good players move on then they tend to like a bit of Champions league / UEFA Cup football. We can't offer it. Still, nothing ventured....... There are (as in all aspects of life) "class" people in football, who want to be involved in "making a club successful" / "helping get it into the Champions League" - if they see the potential for that to happen. It is still about self interest, it would look even better on their CV to be part of that, than to just join a club that has already achieved (say) regular Champions League involvement. The crucial factor is that we have to be SEEN to have that potential (in the fairly short-term) - which surely we have!

There won't be much point in saying that sort of thing. Not worth him coming into the office, for that! That would be a complete "waste of time". I get the impression that Ashley and his 'people' (in this case Mort) do not historically waste their own time and will not do so now. Neither will they waste ours. They appear NOT to be that kind of people. They appear very professional - the opposite of what we (and football generally) are used to having at the top. Just my opinion.

  20. I can see it happening. The Ashley/Allardyce regime is still new to us all, but I can see that they may not have any sentimental attachment to retaining Amoebi. Bye Bye Shola??
  21. That report could have been written either way - either "cool on a move" or "unsure of future at Barca". All still up for grabs!
  22. Aye, i would have thought so. Sam will probably still correspond with the odd person, he's not just going to stop, but i can't imagine there'll be any more faces for the next seven days. Probably why the Geremi thing has been wrapped up so quickly. Not so sure if things will slow down much really. Austria is just as handy a place to meet up with European-based players (perhaps handier) as England is. I think the 'squad building' will just rumble on regardless! ("Bonding" during the day! / "Signing" in the evenings!!)
  23. Dyer = Lampard? What stupidity! Agreed! But, hey, a "swap" deal would be ok!!!!
