If that is against this forums rules, I will remove it! On the forums I moderate, posting embedded YouTube videos is part of the routine postings, and is very much allowed. Can someone let me know please?

Yes, he is still on the Pools Panel. There was a long article about him and the Pools Panel (etc) in the Evening Chronicle earlier this year, on Tuesday 5th February 2013 . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20134a_zps58079eb6.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20132a_zps203777c5.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20134_zps9285b327.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20133b_zps9ad3fe52.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20132_zpscef56c1e.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20131a_zps4b9c7ddd.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20133c_zps00c40c29.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/TonyGreenandthePoolsPanelFeb20131b_zps484aa9f9.jpg

    1973 - A sad time when we lost Tony Green . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/TonyGreen-November1973_0002_zps1464c6b2.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/TonyGreen-November1973_0003_zps2e9c490c.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/TonyGreen-November1973_0004_zps70986e88.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/TonyGreen-November1973_0001_zps22e07f09.jpg

Hi Mick . . . you got in SO quick (before I corrected it) Good photo though? Great match to watch . . . we "stuffed" em!!

    NUFC photos

You mention "Wyn the Leap", Benwell Lad. Here is a photo of Wyn doing exactly that (towering above everyone else) from that same away match at Selhurst Park, that we won 3-0, on October 4th 1969. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/WynDavies-NUFC_zpsc2e45974.jpg

Some of my favourite NUFC photos from the 1960s . . . Bryan "Pop" Robson, when we beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park: http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/BryanPopRobson-NUFC_zps778b684c.jpg "Jinky" Jimmy Smith, in the same match: http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/JimmySmith-NUFC2_zps0c9a3506.jpg Another one of 'Jinky' http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/JimmySmith-NUFC_0001_zps0f747063.jpg Some memories of our 1969 Fairs Cup Winning Team . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/1969EuropeanFairsCupWinners_zps18bbc5d2.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/1969EuropeanFairsCupWinners001_zpsc807a9c9.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/1969EuropeanFairsCupWinners002_zpsc763e6bd.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/BobbyMoncurwiththeEuropeanFairsCup_zps2fbd9b26.jpg
  8. It seems that most of us now seem to realise that each season (for as far ahead as I can imagine) is going to be pretty much identical. There may be some slight/minor variations, good or bad, but basically they will all be identical. That is, as long as Ashley owns the club, his will "will be done" (by Pardew, or whoever, or whoever). It is quite amazingly sad, speaking as a "Glory Hunter" who got his first Season Ticket the season after we won the Fairs Cup, and who lived through the (very similar mentality) Westwood / McKeag eras, and then tasted the FRIGHTENING EXCITEMENT (when 'anything' was possible) of the Sir John Hall/Keegan/Shepherd/Bobby Robson years. Now this! My Dad had a phrase he used when people didn't look healthy, he used to say "you look like death warmed up" . . . but even he would not have expected NUFC to be "specifically planning" to be like death warmed up, for the next season, and the next season, and the next season . . . ad infinitum. Some members don't like to read things like this, I know.
  9. My photo is of the shop in the 'temporary buildings' in the Haymarket. I have a photo of the shop in the ground, and it is quite different.

  11. Thanks for posting my newspaper cutting from 1989. This proves (what we all knew anyway) that the gates (said to be "there for decades") were only there for a few years, certainly less then ten! Yeah i nicked it off scraper city Very interesting thread on NUFC that you regularly post in. Keep posting here too! Glad you like it, I'll try and post here more often. Used to, a few years back!!
  12. Yes, the quoted 1989 Newspaper Article (McKeag & co) mentions in the final sentence . . . "Work will start soon on the replacement of the gates at the Gallowgate entrance to the ground". I actually can't remember them being there, but I assume they were exactly the same as those at the Strawberry Place entrance (that I always used). So, it is THOSE gates that were on Gallowgate (ie, near the 'Leazes End') and NOT those at the . . er . . "Gallowgate End" of the ground (confusing!) on Strawberry Place in the newspaper article, that were taken to Woolsington Hall and are now coming back? So, they were even 'newer' than the ones in the 1989 newspaper article!
  13. So, my cutting has been used in the MAG . . . and I didn't even get a credit!!

  15. Looking at the current League Table, and the points gap between 10th and 9th, I would think that we will comfortably (and quite soon) arrive in 10th place . . . where we will STAY for the rest of the season. So, end of season = 10th.

    Loïc Remy

Whereas, now, Remy will be offered to us (cut price) when QPR go down. Would we want him though?
  17. 1972, in fact! See below link . . . http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=63356797&postcount=114 Been refurbished a fair few times since 1972, mind. Interesting article! Very glad that they didn't have a stadium built all the way around like the East Stand mind Saying that i quite like the East Stand, it adds a bit more character to the ground I've never been able to find a picture of the old East Stand on Leazes Terrace either which was interesting http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/1972PlansforStJamesPark008.jpg Yes, where the East Stand now is was known as "the Popular Side". The Popular Side holds a strong place in my affections, as it is where I went to watch my first ever match at SJP . . . and I was "hooked" !!!

  20. Keep taking your meds mate it will all be fine, or we can win championship again You disagree with the straightforward Logic? I am straighforward but I think you'll find I have not commented. Did I say you had?
  21. The irony is that the cynical people (I was one of them not so long ago) are proven right again and again at the end of the transfer window. On the pitch, where it really matters, we've outdone ourselves the last few seasons however. Here's hoping it continues! We shouldn't be thought of, by anyone, as "outdoing ourselves". As a club we are well capable of achieving consistent success, without "outdoing" ourselves !!!!!! Surely! Then, we can kick-on to the next level. Oops . . . that is what we were meant to start doing in the summer transfer window, oh well!

  23. Having finished 5th last year, we were in the perfect situation to "kick on" with a bit of effort, ambition, planning and investment - into the Champions League places. It didn't require "a lot" of any of the above either, because of the standard we had already reached. So, either 3rd or 4th (with the above) was "more likely than not". Now, after a (Lord Westwood / Gordon McKeag - "style") deliberate policy decision at the top being clearly taken NOT to participate in the potential stress and effort caused by expectation and possibly "striving with might and main" to ACHIEVE (revealed by our Transfer Policy this summer) then 7th is our MAXIMUM position. OTHER clubs have taken 'different' decisions, so (for example) if Everton build up as they look like they might, then that 7th could even be 8th . . . or lower! I stress, "7th or 8th" are our maximums, now!! Those who were around under Westwood and McKeag (ultimate ambition being 'upper mid table and/or survival') prior to the SJH era - will know exactly what I mean.
  24. Memories . . Who remembers the fabulous SCOREBOARD at the Gallowgate End at St James' Park? http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/ScoreboardatStJamesParka.jpg
