  1. Staveley will buy us if/when we stay up. She'll not be back. She will be. Oh, most certainly she will be back, as she hasn't gone away. The ONLY time anything SERIOUS gets done in things like this, is when the spotlight is off the people involved. Like now. So, just wait and e n j o y !!!
  2. If anything, definitely unhelpful. From what I understand about the nature of the man, it would motivate him to do whatever he thinks we do not want, and never to do what we he thinks we might want. Having said that, I doubt if he would take any notice of it at all . . he would see it as "beneath him" to even acknowledge anything like that.
  3. Am I the only one thinking that this is just a "tactic", and that the Takeover will still happen? Hmm, probably only me . . .
  4. Just seen Rafa Benitez being interviewed on Sky. He was saying he still had no idea how much his transfer budget was, so he couldn't yet do anything about new players. "We are just waiting to hear" he said, smiling. Now, I do not think Rafa would be smiling and looking so happy and relaxed as he did during all of this interview, if the total lack of a known budget (by 5th January) was THE ONLY thing happening. He would be furious, angry, frustrated, worried . . and he would show it. In other words, he "is" exactly what he "appears" to be - totally happy and contented . . and that can (really) only mean one thing. He knows he will very shortly (very shortly) have the money and new owner that he needs. Today's interview is (far and away) the clearest indication of this that I have seen, in this entire long saga. GREAT NEWS VERY SOON FOLKS
  5. If it is "within 14 days of the declaration" (as said above) and this announcement/declaration is made on the 6th January (as it is being suggested it may be) then add on the 14 days from the 6th and you get to Rafa's mentioned date of 20th January. It all fits !!!
  6. When the "Sandman Signature Hotel" took over the famous 'curved' office block that had been the Newcastle HQ of S&N, they fitted the Famous Blue Star back onto the side of the building. An excellent idea . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/Sandman%20Signature%20Hotel%20-%20SN%20Blue%20Star%20at%20night_zpslzcl51jf.jpg
  7. Probably more of a bargaining point. If she knows Ashley isn't going to invest in January, there is a good chance the club will be relegated and the value of the club will be massively damaged. So That gives her a strong bargaining point and can just say that she shouldn't have to make a purchase that is reliant of her to invest additional money to make the basic price she paid him worth her while. I've explained that really badly. No i understand what you're saying. It seems that neither of them wants the responsibility of the January investment though, which is a worry for me. I'm no business expert but you'd think if Staveley had huge financial backing then we'd get a situation where the squad got some heavy investment to guarantee survival as much as realistically possible, whether the takeover had gone through or not. That isn't mentioned in that article so maybe Staveley doesn't have the financial muscle that we're all hoping for? From what's been reported, it sounds like the 'heavy investment' that is required is only likely to be about £30m because the takeover isn't going to be completed in time so we are relying on loans from Ashley. If that's the case I don't blame PCP for worrying about the very real chance of relegation. That investment should have been made in the summer to guarantee safety. If it is only £30m then i think we're probably f***ed anyway. That barely buys you 2 decent players. Unless we could pull off some very clever loans then it wouldn't be enough IMO. It seems to be very much common sense for both PCP and Ashley to repeatedly talk about a relatively small amount being made available, like £30M. The real amount may well be (has to be, really) a fair bit larger. If the real amount was known, logic dictates, then player prices quoted at us would be much, much higher, we would be held to ransom, really. SO, I am (in consequence) VERY HAPPY to have this £30M figure quoted, and re-quoted, in any and all Media !!
  8. Correct. The silence and "no denials of the made-up leaks and rumours" from PCP, can mean only ONE thing. A deal is in preparation. Whether Ashley will accept it, is another matter altogether, but certainly the clear signs are that he (now) WANTS to sell.
  9. It doesn't need a fourth go in the Champions League, it just needs (as Stifler said just now) . . . "an NUFC with ambition could easily sell 8-10k extra seats". Ambition was specifically and coldly removed from NUFC some ten years ago.
  10. Which ironically is not far from the original use for the land our ground sits on. Oh yes . . "Gallowgate". As explained here - http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=106216591&postcount=4203
  11. I think after half a century without a meaningful trophy we could be allowed some leeway when it comes to buying some success. Yes, I just cannot believe it is 48 years since my first year (as a kid) having enough money to go to most of the games. 1969 was my first year, and as my own School Report once said . . "a good start, but must try harder" . . . http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=55836819&postcount=942
  12. Pretty sure the ‘data room’ process will be done online. From what I’ve read on it, the club put all the accounting books etc to a 3rd party who keep it all safe. From then on any 3rd party who have signed a NDA will be given a password where they can log on and look at all the documents, so there will be no guys with boxes of files. That is how I understand it to be also. Online access.
  13. Whereas I do do do dah dah dah, (stand close to him)
  14. Can't believe what I'm hearing "Ashley has SportsDirect plastered all over the stadium. He deserves it - he saved this club" the f*** I heard it, I am aware that people can have a "wide range" of opinions on life . . . but there are some things that are factually impossible to have "opinions" about, and this Jack Guy appears to think that the Earth is definitely FLAT and that night most certainly DOES NOT follow day. Beyond doubt he was an active supporter of another football club, perhaps even from Sunderland.
  15. A bit over the top as usual, but we should be one of the most attractive clubs in the world to buy. Not only unique in being a one club city, but we stand apart from most of the other clubs in England in both geography and passion for the game which has to be a massive factor. It would be for British buyers anyway, my only worry is whether foreign buyers would realise it. Someone like Stavely would be crucial in conveying this. You see nothing clubs like Crystal Palace and QPR getting bought up and you wonder whether the owners think just because they are in London that somehow gives them extra value? Its not over the top like. We are already in the top 20 of world club's and that's with Ashley as owner. We have one of the best manager's in the world in charge, one of the biggest stadiums, a huge huge fan base and a pretty decent foreign following. There is not a club on earth that could achieve what we could with major investment, not a club that isn't already an established power base or elite club anyway. These were the (not so long ago) days . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/5th%20Richest%20Club%20in%20the%20world%20-%20NUFC%201999_zpsgot9hsio.jpg When is this from? 99? Isn't that when NTL gave us a 24 million interest free loan ? I seem to remember some kind of loan from NTL, at some point in our history, but "loans" do not form part of "Turnover" so would not be included in the above figures.

Infuriating how we didn't capitalise. We were ABOVE BARCELONA !!!!

  18. This link has already been posted, but just reading it again, fills me full of hope . . . http://www.arabnews.com/node/1171891/sports#.WdTkVGtA2GN.twitter
  19. Of course. We have zero intention of ever being a top 6 club. So different from the Sir John Hall era, he always talked about his intention, and the sheer importance of, Newcastle United ALWAYS being at or near the very top of the Premier league ("where we should be", as he put it) otherwise we would miss out financially and if there were any 'European Superleague' developments. It was automatic that we were always, and always would / should be, one of the Premier league's very top clubs. The very opposite of todays "inferiority complex" attitudes.
  20. What a shame, to die so young, very unexpected at 76, these days. RIP Freddy, and thanks for being a strong and major part of the "Newcastle United with appropriate ambition" that we enjoyed in the 1990s and early 2000s.

    On this day...

Tony Green was one of the greatest players we have had over the last 47 years that I have been following NUFC. I kept these newspaper cutting from that sad time in November 1973 . . . http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/TonyGreen-November1973_0002_zpsissyiys9.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/Tony%20Green%20-%20November%201973_0003_zpsuoakoyfr.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/Tony%20Green%20-%20November%201973_0004_zpsx0fpngqi.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/manorpark_photos/Newcastle%204/Newcastle%205/Tony%20Green%20-%20November%201973_0001_zpskim9npnm.jpg
  23. No, that ship has sailed (probably ten years ago).
