Wasn't it the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last season after losing to Sheff Utd that saw us pick up speed a bit and get some better results? Hat trick from Martins, heh.
-
Where the hell has Cacapa disappeared to? Is he still injured or has he just been dropped? Apparently Taylor is still suffering from his back injury so if he plays won't be 100%. I think that currently our only fit CB is Roz..

Source?

To be fair I would too. I don't think he brings anyway near enough to a full 90 minutes to warrant starting him.. I think we lack real depth in that area moreso than others.

Since the Blackburn game, Same has mentioned preferring Smith in a strikers role as opposed to his midfield role.. wouldn't be surprised to see a midfield 3 of Butt, Emre and Barton and a 3 point attack of Milner, Martins and Smith.. thats my guess anyway.

One of the most enjoyable derbies I have been to in recent years is Sheffield Wednesday v. Sheffield United.. even though they're both from the same city, there can still be as much venom as you'd get with the tyne-wear matches. I also find it interesting that the Notts Forest/County derby is generally very dull and lifeless, whereas the Notts Forest v. Derby County matches have a real edge to them.

Haha, brilliant.

No beef with Europe at all. Just not keen on people assuming the world revolves around Europe and everyone else should change what they do to accommodate Europeans. Expecting the world to fit in with what Europe does is arrogant though tbh. The reasons for holding the ACN in Jan/Feb have already been mentioned. The sport doesn't belong to England, Britain or Europe - Africa have the right to hold their tournament whenever the f*** they like. If this ruffles a few feathers then yes, 'tough s***'. I just hope you are just as outraged when the likes of Given, Owen, Viduka, Emre, Milner and Taylor are called upon to represent their countries. Cos that's totally different isn't it? Well, it is actually. We make time in our own league to accomodate the internationals... Also, the world/european cups aren't in season time, but if they were, I would be very pissed off if I saw the players mentioned f****** off to play in some cup. With all due respect, you're missing the point. the Internationals? f****** hell! International matches involving African countries aren't as important? It was well known when the ACN was taking place for years and years. People are only twisting and fretting because they haven't been intelligent enough to have a squad to deal with it. Africa has the right to choose when to hold the ACN. Full stop. It seems that every time somebody gives you an answer of some kind you try to twist the words. Other International competitions are held out of season because then the entire situation is made easier for the club, country and also the player. Fair play if ACN is in Jan-Feb it's just one of those things, but you must be able to see why people would be annoyed, especially since teams like Newcastle will have to go another two or three fixtures without our top goalscorer potentially.

I'd be very interested in reading this too.

The entire structure of the club has changed, from the owner to the majority of first team players.. give it time. Besides, until very recently there hasn't been much choice in the midfield creativity-wise, with Emre either being injured or looking mostly ineffective and N'Zogbia playing at leftback. Barton has been injured and Damien Duff is out for another 8 weeks or so still.. Solano and Dyer are off the books and after that there isn't much to choose from apart from fairly similar midfield characters. It'll come good. If we're playing s*** now and fifth, there isn't any reason for us to adapt better over the season and achieve some long awaited consistency.

Do you know the history behind the word RACISM ffs?. Its ridiculous to even mention them in the same bloody sentence let alone put them on the same level of discrimination. Being fair, all he said was that they are similar because they are both forms of discrimination. At no point did he really compare the significance of their history or pass judgement as to which is the worse.

Playing in Serie B though. Italian fizzy pop league. Boumsong was a fucking car crash.. fair play some players just don't adapt, but he just outright took the piss. If you don't quite remember check out YouTube.

Well no, definately not.. probably not the best example but I think my point still stands. Looking at last season I'd blame Shephard before Roeder, because it was FF that appointed him, although it could easily be said that Roeder never said no.. Either way I don't think that Roeder deserves the abuse that he's gotten.

If anyone is interested, Poll isn't actually answering from the lawbook, more his interpretation. My law is a bit rusty (I have a referee qualifaction) but I'm sure the infringement would come from the player trying to pull the shirt, never mind just pulling it. The laws state similar things with yellow cards, like a player kicking or just merely attempting to kick another player.
-
He was a good player for us and his heart is in the right place, he just lacked the ability to manage NUFC. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the Roeder haters are people who never got a chance to see the performances he put in for us. Would the same people jump on Alan Shearers' back if he took over as manager and failed?

If you like alot of chocolate on your biscuit join our club.

Seeing Allardyce celebrate a goal Oba-style would be my last dying wish.

Second place so far, not bad for me

Nice.... Don't quite get why you posted that gem in this thread like... Me either, and i dont understand why it would matter how a football player looks, specially one who will be playing for Newcastle united this season.. Would'nt mind if Frankenstein was our left back, so long as he did a good job. You mean Frankensteins Monster.

I have a whippet, ironically he's called Merlin. Good post though.

Talking of form and points on whatnot, from what I've noticed from the last few seasons (with the odd exception aside) if you get on average 1 point per fixture, or 38 points total then you're skimming safety/relegation. Any below that and it's pretty much guaranteed. However, if you average 2 points per game - 3 points per home game and 1 per away game for example - you'll pretty much win the premiership, or be in a title race at the very least. I reckon that a top 6 finish is easily possible, but like several people have said.. it's all about consistency. I think with a bit more depth and less injuries (come on BS) we could be there.

I was watching Soccer Saturday and when I saw the Bolton goal update my heart literally sank.. After all the times last season that we were doing well until the opposition scored a goal, causing our heads to drop, I was pretty worried like. But it's a thing of the past! Big Sams revolution has started rolling! Interesting thing in the interview how Sam brought up about changing formation several times to accomodate the change in pace of the game.
