    Arda Turan?

We should sign Simon Adabesi. He'd be fantastic for the cruching tackles.
  2. Why do people seem to think that we can only play one formation? Can we not mix and match to suit opposition? Just don't get why some people make out it's one or the other.

Haha didn't didn't Enrique join because of Luque, and then we sold him about a week later?

    Arda Turan?

The Modric thing is getting lots of people worried I think. We're still not entirely sure on the ambitions of the new board though (not that I'm saying they have to prove it this early into the summer), so IMO it's quite understandable that they are nervous. Especially when it comes to a player that seems to be highly rated such as this guy. I don't know personally. I think at least some sign of intent needs to be shown before the Euros, lest we get taken for mugs after it. I just don't want another fiasco like the last few seasons with last minute deals springing up. We know that players have been scouted and there is a list of players that they want.. maybe I'm simplifying it, but as such there hasn't been massive progress. You may say that it's only early, but that hasn't stopped other teams bringing players in already.

Interest from Spurs Apparently, Spurs have bid 13M yep, a spurs fan, who may not be my friend for much longer sent me this http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/1157/picture1ea7.png Wouldn't it be great if he turns down the bigger Spurs offer to sign for the Toon? Revenge is what I am dreaming of... :-( What pisses me off - assuming these rumours are true - is that first off Spurs sign Modric, our first choice. Fair enough, kick in the balls but we'll get over it. Lets go for our backup target. Hang on, Spurs have lodged a better bid. So not only do they go for our main target but then our backup? It's fucking ridiculous. After they sign this guy they'll probably STILL buy N'Zogbia and have an entirely left-sided midfield. Fuck the lot of them.

Why not??? if we think within our realm, we will never improve. Football is about the world and not about our city alone, wonder why the likes of Pool, Man U and even Spurs and believe it or not Leeds are more popular than us. It upsets me when i go to places like China and Singapore and they are not very familiar with the Newcastle name. They only know it as Shearer's club who is basically not very good. Anyway, its a chain reaction, if we are really no good and stay as over-rans, our standing be it Scotland or France will dwindle and that is negative as far as i am concerned. In a way, its a measurement of our success and progress as a football team. Give over man. I travel to Spain all year round and every time I go people recognise my toon top. When I was a teacher in Bejing people knew who Newcastle were there. And I don't get the Shearer thing, are you saying he's not very good or that the eastern hemasphere or the world think that?

    Frank Lampard

Something about Gerrard really annoys me. Amazing player, but I hate the whole Mr. Liverpool thing. He was in the paper the other day demanding that Liverpool splashed the cash this summer. Give it a rest.
  8. Doubt you're in for him. We're not. Nah, I'm with you on this one.
  9. Sometimes real life gets in the way.
  10. is that one of the no frills carriers? I take it the airports are nowhere near Madrid? Ryanair are the worst......I once flew to Frankfurt Hahn.....but the airport was 2 hours outside Frankfurt near the luxembourg border! (my fault for not researching it beforehand but to call their airport `Frankfurt` was taking the pi$$ on top of having to pay 30 euro return for the bus trip to get to Frankfurt - would`ve been almost the same price taking a proper airline ) Madrid has two airports I think, but I've only ever been to one. Just a short taxi ride into the city. Funny enough I use Ryanair, but I've not really had the problems you've talked about - but then again I only really fly to Spain to see people out there. EDIT Just checked it and Madrid Barajas (Madrid International Airport) is 12km from the town centre.
  11. For flights alone you can get free flights and just pay £5 tax. I fly to Madrid quite alot and the most I tend to pay for a return to Madrid is about £30.

    Todays Rumours....

The Spurs of this transfer window reminds me of a grubby toddler that wants the toys the other kid at playgroup wants.
  13. Aye, I can feel it. Except we'll get Chelsea, not Cardiff. You know we'd get a run like arsenal, man u, liverpool, chelsea and even if we came through that lot we'd end up drawing barcelona somehow in some new rule made up of not allowing us to ever win anything. If a rule such as this appears on the yellow ticker on SSN in the next few days, I'll hunt you down like the dog you are. Overrall I didn't mind the match, hardly a classic. I just really, really loathe that awful "Come on Pompey, Pompey come on" chant in that stupid Southern accent. I don't mind Portsmouth as a team or the place to be honest, but for some reason that 'apples & pears' basic as f*** chant enrages me.
  14. That photo reminds me of bobbleheads you used to be able to buy as a kid. ..were they called bobbleheads?
  15. The current home kit is for 2007/08 - 2008/09 I believe. We tend to change the away kit every year.
  16. It'll have been on a Spurs forum within minutes, too late, sorry. News just in that Spurs have signed the picture in a 4 year deal worth upwards of £15million. News conference and unveiling at WHL at 1pm
  17. Incorrect quote from N'Zogbia. Twisted slightly to hint at leaving. Nice one Louise.
  18. Off TalkSport: Heh, I'd love it if it was true.
  19. Heh, this didn't work out for me. I was living in Derby for nearly all of this season. Backfired somewhat. same here. Maybe I saw the wrong parts like. No, you didn't. You saw all you needed of Hull. I think it was voted the worst place to live.. or was definately up there.
  20. Lord Coe has told Sky Sports News he would like to see Sir Alex Ferguson manage the Great Britain football team at the 2012 Olympics. A Great Britain football team for the London Olympics has been a subject of debate for some time and Coe is all for it. Coe, the chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, confirmed holding informal discussions with the Manchester United boss but did not divulge whether the Scot was interested in the post. "I would love to see Alex coach the team," Coe told Sky Sports News. "I can't think of anybody that frankly (more) deserves at the end of a stunning career to be in charge of young players here. He added: "I've spoken to Alex. "We know each other. We're good friends." Chelsea fan Coe's bid to land Ferguson first came to light two months ago, at which time United expressed a relaxed attitude about the approach. Ferguson was thought to be intrigued by the offer but reluctant to accept were it to interfere with his duties at Old Trafford. Door open The concept of a British team, which last entered the Olympic qualifying tournament with an amateur side in 1972, is controversial. Both the Scottish Football Association and the Football Association of Wales are opposed to it, with the former indicating they will attempt to block Scottish players from being picked to play. One of the reasons for their stance is the fear Fifa could strip the home nations of their special status, which guarantees each nation voting rights within the organisation. Fifa president Sepp Blatter initially claimed this would not be the case, but more recently said a British team should consist exclusively of English players. Coe insisted the door would remain "open" should the Scottish and Welsh FAs relax their stances. "I clearly want the best players - wherever they come from Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England - to be there," added Coe "But I also recognise it is an issue for the individual football associations and the door is open." The venues for the football tournament in 2012 are currently limited to England, with Old Trafford, St James' Park, Villa Park and Wembley all to host matches. Coe said he would "love" to include Glasgow's Hampden Park and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on the schedule. But he revealed he would not lobby the Scottish and Welsh associations to change their minds, adding: "I'm not going to get sleepless nights over it." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3565620,00.html Nice to see SJP as a venue at least.
  21. And there goes the credibility of your source
  22. Did a quick scan around google and found a few stories from the last 7 days with a few lines about us looking at/enquiring about Veloso and/or Moutinho.. Could be a grain of truth in it, could be a non-story. +25 pages within the next 12 hours
  23. Seeing Keegan treated with such little respect from some people when things didn't work out straight away. Watching the slide of form from what at first seemed like a fairly positive start. Being destroyed by Portsmouth within 10 minutes. Sometimes you can accept it throughout a whole match.. but 10 minutes?! Being let down by another false dawn. I didn't really expect a high finish and 12th would have been more-or-less acceptable for me (year of transition/other teams who are now on the up have had mediocre seasons before etc) but it was the way in which it all unfolded. We didn't have a go, we didn't have a clue and we didn't seem to care.
