Think this is a lot tougher than it looks on paper, they haven't lost by more than 1 goal this season and have scored against City and away at Spurs. They'll make it tough for us to break them down. We should have enough to win but it won't be the walkover we're hoping for and a draw isn't a terrible result.

Not sure how this has happened, took them ages to confirm this one, then they voided it and refunded me, now its showing as lost?

Only a couple of times I felt like they could do something, Pope knocking the ball back into danger when he should have collected and towards the end of the game when our left hand side was non-existent. But I still felt anything coming into the middle was going to get smothered, it was a real bodies on the line performance. Even then that weakness on the left gave them courage to push forward and we nearly walked away with the smash and grab. And good, I like it when they all think we're crap/lucky/undeserving because they continue to undervalue us. Milan at home will still be a tough game because I think they'll sit deep again and want us to ask the questions, I just hope the other group games are more open as it seems even our own supporters think we can't attack.

I don't think I was worried at any time that we would concede, it was a dogged, if a little ugly at times, display and we were determined not to let them through.

I think rather than be worried about our attack we should note the defenses we have played. Villa opened up because they thought they had the attacking ability to beat us and we punished them, City is the outlier, we just couldn't get a hold on the ball they're just too good. Then we have Liverpool 11v11 we had the measure of them and would likely have gone on to win, but they went down to 10 and sat in a low block to tire us out and it worked. Then Brentford came around and we're happy to sit deep nick the 2nd ball and hit us on the break. Then tonight Milan, there was large swathes of the game where they allowed us possession and hit us with the break too, Tomori was an absolute wall, it wasn't until we started to tire that they pressed high up the pitch and it nearly cost them. We don't have the players, nor the ability to unlock a deep defense either with quality defenders or a well drilled back line, it was a problem last season and continues to be a problem now. All the teams we've played so far bar City have been happy to allow us to have the ball up to the half way line and ask us to break them down.

I'll say one thing, I felt like the game was going a lot better when I just watched it and didn't follow it on here

Warmed up, then cooled down just stood there

We've got to shoot on sight now

What is it with them getting away with grabbing shirts constantly?

That's 5 star accommodation in Blackpool

Started the game as a side who have had a 3 game humbling, however as the game went on it was all us and any attack from Brentford was snuffed out. It wasn't pretty but it was needed and gives us something to build off. Let's not forget we did that with a weakened team as we looked to save legs for Tuesday. Given the above circumstances and the result I'm happy with that performance.

Imagine blowing the whistle there

Got our tails up now, need to exert ourselves onto this and don't give them an inch to get back into it

Well done wor Cal 17 left to get

As if ?

Finally!!

Ref needs to keep an eye on their keeper time wasting too btw, every time he brings the players in for the short ball then tells them to go long, taking ages with those kicks when we're on top.

Bar the first 20 minutes I think we've done OK, not half as bad as some making out, we just need something to land in the final 3rd, they've defended well and made it difficult for us to find any room.

3-1 Toon, been in my head for days

Maguire must be finished now, he's so poor

That's exactly what it's like everyone knows everyone and if they don't recognise your face they get wary. It's a local town, for local people.

I'd say it's more like the other way round, I lived in Fleetwood for 25 years and it's a close community and a good place to live in terms of it being quiet, however it's the biggest cul-de-sac in the country, only 1 way in and 1 way out and there's absolutely nothing to do there and barely any jobs so most move to Blackpool for work.

Fleetwood have been around since 1908 but we've had a torrid history, the last incarnation was called Fleetwood Freeport and basically a pub league team, attached to the local park I was able to watch them from the park wall as a kid, probably why I wasnt really bothered with football growing up This Fleetwood was formed in 1997 and has been historically our best team finishing 4th in league 1 in 2017. To answer your question, Fleetwood and Blackpool do hate each other but it's not as rabid as the Blackpool/Preston North End hatred. The "Fylde Coast derby" was scheduled for yesterday but postponed for the internationals, but it will be a tasty affair between the supporters.
