just seen an interview with Ji-Sung Park. Spoke good English. Seem to remember reading somewhere his English was still quite poor given the amount of time he's been at Man Utd.

if anyone wants to stalk... WayneRoutledge I'm hungry... Nandos? about 1 hours ago via UberTwitter

at times it seems to be 'one more touch, one more touch' which can lead to him losing it, whereas he might be better off having a shot himself or looking for the pass.

only problem with a poll is how susceptible it would be to sabotage from mackems and the like. If it was just on the official site like the MoM poll, they could easily go en-masse and vote for the shittest one. It would have to be restricted to ST holders/members who could log in with a number to stop that sort of thing happening.

if that was aimed at my post, I was joking.

most of the corners failed to clear the first man last night. Not nice as it forced memories of Geremi back into my head. Woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat thinking we'd re-signed him.

Six good reasons to hate newcastle by Notts Forrest Fans
WarrenBartonCentrePartin replied to Thespence's topic in Football
went in the Goose post match last night, and they left SS1 on. 'Time of our lives' came on and it was Forest (I assume that was done on purpose). Wouldn't be surprised if seeing this has led to further angry posts calling us a small, non-achieving club etc. As is always the case with football fans, they're living in the past, but to be honest aren't most clubs with the exception of a select few? All part and parcel of fans winding each other up. Brush the comments off and move on. We're going up, they might not be yet. -
nicely set up, that.

I want to be there to celebrate, so I'll say Monday. Would love it to be Saturday, but unfortunately I can't afford to go down to Peterborough. If its sealed on Saturday though, Monday will still be an excellent night.

anyone leaving the Leazes middle after FT see the Forest fan leaning over, making cut-throat gestures? He was getting really irate and the steward about 3 feet away was just laughing at him, while the steward next to us below was just shouting up while laughing, "Stevie man, just hoy 'im oot!" Same lad just after Enrique's goal lifted his shirt up, I think to imply all geordies are fat, however he himself was far from trim.

was an absolutely quality moment last night. Think everyone around me in the Leazes embraced each other in uncontrollable merriment and elation.

The old Chris Hughton discussion thread
WarrenBartonCentrePartin replied to Parky's topic in Football
Hughton confirms he will be Newcastle boss next season Chris Hughton has confirmed he will remain as Newcastle boss next season – and insists he wants the unlikely scenario of having BOTH Andy Carroll and Steven Taylor in his team. The Newcastle boss is facing his biggest managerial test this week on and off the pitch and he admitted yesterday to “challenging issues”. Newcastle are remaining tight-lipped on the vicious internal bust up between Carroll and Taylor which left former England Under 21 defender Taylor with a double jaw fracture and only able to eat liquids through a straw. Hughton refused to let slip any hint of an incident in a bid to protect Carroll. The former Spurs coach now has to keep a lid on different opinions in his dressing room over the handling of the affair, a major test of his man management and leadership behind the scenes. The severity of Taylor’s injuries elevated the incident well above the usual training ground scraps, and Hughton’s public backing for Carroll - calling him a “vital” player for the future of the club just 48 hours after their fight - has left him considering his Toon future. Newcastle play a crucial potential promotion clinching against third played Nottingham Forest tonight knowing a win would put them 13 points clear of the play-off zone with a game in hand. Hughton says his relish for the top job is undimmed by the controversy he has dealt with in the last week and said: “I have a contract that takes for another season after this one. So I don’t see any reason at this moment why I wouldn’t be. “All of it is a challenge - from what you do from the coaching side to the management side, dealing with whatever issues you have to do deal with it - it’s all challenging and it all comes in one package. If you don’t enjoy that challenge, you shouldn’t be here. “I think over a period of time you develop as a manager and as a coach. Come the end of the season - wherever we end up at the end of the season - I will be a better manager for the experiences we’ve had this season. “Will Andy Carroll be here next season? Yes, absolutely. Will Steven Taylor? Absolutely yes.” Taylor has a year left on his contract and will attract bids from Everton and Aston Villa in the summer. Hughton says he doesn’t have to justify the inconsistency in his disciplinary approach which saw Carroll dropped earlier in the season when he was involved in one nightclub incident, but picked to start against Doncaster after his fight with Taylor. Carroll scored the winner, and Hughton says he is simply pursuing results to get Newcastle over the promotion line. He said: “What I don’t have to do is to go into any specifics. My job is to manage this football club and this group of lads. Around that will always come decisions. “I have to make decisions every week on whichever team I pick - sometimes you get things right, sometimes you get things wrong and I will continue to make decisions that I believe are right. “For every team I pick I pick what I feel is the best team to win a football match for me. Around that there are issues of fitness, form, individuals, players coming back - those are the things that I take into account. “My philosophy is we’ve got to do everything we can to win football matches. We’ve got a crowd here with high expectations - they expect us to get promotion. That means winning enough football matches to do that and that’s why such a big focus remains on winning those games. “I think that at football clubs there will always be issues and it’s about working around the issues and on the important thing - winning enough games. “We have high expectations here and to meet them we have to win games and that is our focus.” Newcastle are the only club with an unbeaten home record and have a host of players fit again including Mike Williamson, Jose Enrique, Alan Smith and Peter Lovenkrands. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Chris-Hughton-confirms-he-will-still-be-Newcastle-boss-next-season-and-insists-he-wants-to-keep-hold-of-both-Andy-Carroll-and-Steven-Taylor-despite-their-vicious-bust-up-article371845.html -
why is it though that our supposed fans on other message boards always spout utter shite? Or is it that they banned any sensible Mags on there for fear of a well thought out and liberal point from a Newcastle viewpoint being made?

Fight/bust up at the training ground?
WarrenBartonCentrePartin replied to binnsy's topic in Football
surprised this hasn't popped up yet (in this thread, anyway. Apologies if posted elsewhere) http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Steven-Taylor-set-to-quit-Newcastle-after-becoming-the-victim-of-a-vicious-hate-campaign-with-Everton-Chelsea-and-Aston-Villa-all-keen-on-the-defender-Exclusive-article369437.html -
mackem I know reckons its all down to whether they can keep the same back 4 game in, game out, which they're struggling to do. Ferdinand at LB, Mensah and Turner in the middle and Bardsley at RB I think he said.

Did he really say that? Christ almighty! sure did. Unbelieveable (Jeff).

Andy Gray when Liverpool were already 1-0 up, "If they [sunderland] don't score today they'll get beaten"

Carlisle gifted Southampton the first 3 goals like.

fucking tell me about it! Especially when I looked online before we went and there was supposedly a direct bus from Port Authority. Went there, asked at a desk where we got it and were told they stopped running that service a few months beforehand! Ended up having to get a train from Penn Station to Seacaucus (didn't even know what train we were getting on as a ticket inspector wouldn't tell us, rude bastard) then a bus from there to Giants Stadium. Was a right carry on!

excellent finish by Jloyd (what a bizarre name)
