No thanks.

I don't know how reliable The Mirror is, though rumour might well be very true, as Xisco is not held in very high regard here. But looking at the article it's written/translated as if we are letting him go for free, which I highly doubt.

Deportivo out to rescue Newcastle flop Deportivo la Coruna are hoping to sort out a permanent deal for Newcastle outcast Xisco, according to Spanish reports. The striker has just returned to Tyneside after a six-month loan spell with old club Deportivo. He has appeared only nine times for the Magpies since joining from Deportivo for £5.7m three years ago. Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro is waiting for the green light from Newcastle to open negotiations with the player. link: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Newcastle-flop-Xisco-wanted-on-permanent-basis-Deportivo-La-Coruna-after-loan-spell-last-season-article755301.html

Not saying that he has done that before. I believe he will this season. Have you seen his reaction to Nolan being sold, and his own contract negotiation? He'll make a living hell on twitter when he realizes that his only options are getting sold, see out his contract or agree a pay-cut on a 2 or 3 yr deal. I really struggle to see Barton be professional and keep his performance up tbh. I'm fairly sure he realises his options already. And I think you're overplaying the influence of twitter in the dressing room just a tad tbh, I doubt Jonas will refuse to pass to him because Joey mentioned him in a hashtag, y'know? These guys see each other every day of their working lives and have a working relationship that stretches back years in some cases, just because we're privy to tiny fractions of their thoughts at any given time doesn't mean we should be constructing full blown character portraits and soap operas based on them. What you say is valid. However, in the case of Barton you should take into consideration his rather troublesome past, and the fact that he's been in jail while contracted to us. He's done well for us for such a short time when you look at how much time he's spent here. Overall he's been disappointing in my opinion. Of course youcan't get the full truth and aspects from twitter and the media about someone, but you certainly get a good picture of people opinion, because that is what Barton is expressing - his opinions. He's entitled to it, as much as people are entitled to judge him by his opinions, match performance and on- and off-field actions.

I'd be a very happy man if Barton left. He did well for us last season, but his personality is all but professional. He certainly will provide discomfort in the dressing room.

How have you moved forward? Are you seriously trying to tell me that Ba is better than Carroll or Cabaye is better than Nolan? Come on man,at least be honest. They may well in time go on to be better but at this moment in time your squad is weaker than when it started the beginning of last season. We don't know that yet. What we know is that Ba has a "shaky" knee. (Mind Carroll has not been playing much for Liverpool only returning 1 or 2 goals, whereas Ba put 7 for a team ready for relegation all season) As for Cabaye, he offers something totally different to Nolan. Nolan has two things, leadership and he was at the right place at the right time - therefore netting goals. Both important qualities, yes. But he didn't offer much apart from that.

O'Shea would be an absolutely fantastic signing and easily our best signing of the summer. This is not a computer game, this is the real world, you have to be realistic and someone like O'Shea would be an incredible signing for a mid table team like Sunderland. I'm not talking computer game at all (I would do that in the game thread). Where do you see O'shea play? For me, he is a right- or left-back. Who do you have there today? Bardsley, Richardson, Angeleri (anyone else?). I can agree with you that he's better than those three. But to me, it's pretty alarming that you would go all out* for a 31 year old defender of O'shea's calibre. * all out = describing him as an incredible signing, when in reality, he's just an upgrade. At the age of 31, he might have some valuble experience, yes. But he's not really a long term right/left back for you. I just think you should go for someone younger (yes, EPL experience count), and maybe look for something for the longer term than just a season or two. And stay away from Man Utd "rejects".

As much as I appreciate the rivalry. I've got no problem admiting that you got a decent player in Larsson. I don't know much about Gardner and Wickham to judge them, but going by the price of Wickham and his age, £8-£12 mill is a lot for a 18-yr old kid who has only been playing and scoring in the championship. But, by all means, a possible promising prospect. Am I worried? No. I still think we have a better squad than you, but selling Nolan might have proven stupid. Last season Sunderland was dependent on a couple of loan signings, which won't return (?). So that might have weaken your team. There's still plenty of time left in the transfer window, and both teams can sign good players. However, I can't figure out why Sunderland haven't learned from our previous mistakes (Butt and Smith) by signing Man Utd reject. Gibson and O'shea (missed anyone?) are strongly linked with you.

...just playing with thoughts here. But if Zog does sign does that mean that Jonas or Barton is leaving? Can see Ashley hold out for an offer for either of them, to see what he can squeeze out there, and that will ultimately tell how much we are willing to pay for Zog.
-
Guess we are just holding out due to the high fee demanded. Once Wigan back down and realize that a) nobody will pay that much for a player with only a year left on his contract and b) Zog alone will not save them, then thing will get interesting. I guess at that point, we will eventually see if Zog really wants to come here, or if he just wanted to come because we are the only/best option at the time. That is... if our interest in him is real.
-
Whatever you say, we don't know the exact numbers behind anything. Secondly, we also know Ashley and Llambas can't be trusted. 3. We do not own the club, guess who does? .. and then look back, and ask yourself: has complaining about it helped?

Are we not done signing Man Utd junk? Butt... Smith....?

Sounds like they got an exciting player in Wickham. I know nowt about him, only heard and read things. On the other hand, its quite surprising that they fork out £8-12 mill on an 18-yr old when the rest of their team lacks so much talent. Wouldn't it make more sense to upgrade what they got with more experienced players? oh, wait.. what am I saying, it's Steve Bruce nevermind...

It's that left back from Tolulouse. We are back in for him as we have given up on keeping Enrique.
