  1. Toon are 66% worse off under Keegan

KEVIN KEEGAN has made Newcastle 66 per cent weaker — and that’s official.

The hapless Toon boss has seen the club’s points-per-game average plunge by that staggering amount since taking over in January.

And ahead of today’s Blackburn clash, skipper Michael Owen admitted: “Confidence isn’t at its best. There is nervousness.”

A SunSport survey reveals their average points return has slumped from 1.18 to just 0.40 per game since winless Keegan succeeded Sam Allardyce.

That’s easily the worst of the eight Premier League bosses appointed since the start of the season.

Spurs’ Juande Ramos has had the most positive impact with an amazing 161 per cent improvement.

Owen, who had to wear the players’ ‘I had a Sh****!’ novelty T-shirt for being the worst trainer this week, said: “We need a win and the sooner the better.

“As soon as we get that confidence will come flooding back.

“We’ve got an awful lot of games left and we aren’t in the relegation zone.

“We’re not at panic stations but are well aware we need to get a result — and fast.”

  2. MICHAEL OWEN admits Newcastle's confidence has hit rock bottom.

The Toon have not won in their last 10 matches.

And Owen, who has scored twice in the last three games, says Kevin Keegan's men are desperate for a victory.

The England striker, 28, revealed: "Confidence isn't at it's best.

"There is nervousness throughout the side.

"We need a win and the sooner the better.

"As soon as we get that I think confidence will come flooding back."

Despite sitting just six points off the drop zone, Owen is not worried about getting dragged into a relegation battle.

He added: "We've got an awful lot of games left and we aren't in the relegation zone at the moment.

"We're not at panic stations but we are obviously well aware we need to get a result — and fast.

"This game against Blackburn on Saturday is one you look at and think Newcastle at home should be getting something out of it."

"Nice"  to hear that from our new cpt.....

  3. Hopefully our team would look something like this next season:

GKs: Given, Jussi Jääskeläinen, Tim Krul

    DL: Enrique, Nicky shory/Wayne Bridge

    DC: Taylor, Faye, Campbell

    DR: Beye, Faty, Wes Brown

    ML: Zogbia, Downing

    MR: Arshavin/Bentley, Milner

MC: Barton (If he can sort out his problems), Carrick, Adrien, Albelda/Aimar

ST: Owen (If he signs a new contract), Martins, Carroll, Crouch/Ashton/Cisse

Know it's too much to hope for, but still.. would be sweet!

  4. Keegan on the BBC:

"We played very well early on for a team that has not been having results go for us and we built the platform for a victory by taking the lead.

"Sadly half the second half came and I'm baffled by what happened because it was the same players but we never really got going after the break.

"Their first goal was a hammer blow and our goalkeeper got injured at the same time and when they got their second we had a mountain to climb."

"So, then we just let another two in"
