Keegan on the BBC:
"We played very well early on for a team that has not been having results go for us and we built the platform for a victory by taking the lead.
"Sadly half the second half came and I'm baffled by what happened because it was the same players but we never really got going after the break.
"Their first goal was a hammer blow and our goalkeeper got injured at the same time and when they got their second we had a mountain to climb."
"So, then we just let another two in"

-
We better win, cause it's my birthday, and that's my wish for the day

I'd say that the only one to keep would be Enrique, Beye, Faye, Zog and Martins. Other than that i really think it's time for most of them to leave... and I hope they do!
-
I think Smith will be shipped out in summer anyway.
Think alot of people will be replaced

fuck the ref, and fuck the offside rule..

very important goal... you can see Newcastle lack of confidence.. Go go go!

"A message to all Aston Villa fans, my best mate is a friend of Martin O'Neils assistant manager John Robertson, and from what John said to my mate, SIX or possibly SEVEN WORLD CLASS players are arriving at Villa Park in these last remaining days of the transfer window. Unfortunatly my mate said that John would not tell him who the players that Martin is looking at are, John would only reveal the number of players that would be arriving.
So my mate and myself do not know who these players are.
However John DID say to my mate that two of the players Martin is looking at come from NEWCASTLE."
who the f*** can that be! world class???
oh... that's Carr and Ameobi...

Newcastle have their sights on some real big name players but I understand some major (and I mean major) world stars have already been approached. For their clubs the price was right but none of the targets are interested in a move to Newcastle. The big players want to play in the big teams, in the Champions League and clubs with a big history and quite Frankly Newcastle just is not that club (sorry Newcastle United). Expect to see some second rung players (but still quality) at SJP next season though. I would not be suprised to see Robben and Ruud Van Nistelrooy there next season. An outside bet, but if you have a couple of quid to spare put it on Rio Ferdinand to be wearing the black and white stripes next year.

Obviously, we are not going to bring in any more players this window. There a lot of rumours - infact we have been linked with almost every footballer out there. We should really try to get in one creative midfielder, other than that I'm kinda glad we haven't spread the cash. Silly Season = Silly Prices.

"We're going to get caught in a three-on-one," I would protest. Keegan would reply: "Nah, if we concede, we'ill just score another."

Never in a million years will huge clubs sit buy and watch a player like Mascherano come to Newcastle, thats if he even would think twice about it.
You never know with Kev - he can persuade anyone
-
Who could you get for £18m who would be as willing to come? What does Mashcereno offer that Carrick doesnt? MAybe a little more defensive protection becuase if you ask me, Carrick makes up for that with his passing ability.
as a defensive midfielder mascherano is miles better than carrick. Mascherano is a fantastic tackler and rarely misplaces a pass. the attacking midfielder should provide the creativity not the defensive player. Mascheranos passing is underrated, whereas carrick doesn't seem to want to dirty his shorts.
how much would both of them cost approx.?

What do you think about Riquelme? Sure, he'll take some time to adapt (if he ever does) but his technique is superb, that's atleast how I remember him from the Argentina matches.
I'm not updated on his current situation... but he's been injured quite a lot ...or ?

Fair point! Obviously, there are many players to pick from, but I guess there's only a few that would settle in as quickly as Carrick (with that calibre). And keegan wants that type of player. However, I must admit spending that much money on him would be crazy. It's a lot of cash!
Plus, whenever Ferguson decides to sell it's not because he's forced to, it's because he knows the player is 'past his peak'. S.A. Ferguson is damn good at that, and he's rarely wrong

Kikin Fonseca is my top Football Manager recommendation. Ahem.
That's just pathetic. Nothing but pathetic! There's absolutely nothing to gain by mocking me or my post. My list is long, but atleast I'm thinking 'outside the box' which is just what we need (and obviously allowed to in this thread). I can only follow up what's posted above - what makes you believe that you are any better than me at picking players? (elbee909?)
If we have a s**t load of cash to spend, then I'm sure you can compile a pretty decent XI out of my list...?
And about the Carrick talking - seriously for £18 mill ?? mackems.gif You got to be f***ing kidding me. As some other people have said as well, we can get much better for that amount of money. And S.A. Ferguson is not known for selling his players before they are over their peak. Newcastle on the other hand, has sold Andy Cole to Man Utd, let Saha go (he wasn't good enough???). We have also brought in Smith and Butt for Man Utd - have they ever played as well here as at Man Utd?
W/e agrument.... £18 mill is pure robbery, he's overpriced, and if Ferguson want to sell.. it's his problem. Sure we need a player of atleast his calibre, but not Carrick for that much...

Problem is though, during the Bolton game, I saw the "Allardyce ghost" hanging over the team, so I would have to agree that it would take us some time to adapt a more attacking style. Also, we need different players than what we have. One could clearly see that. So, I guess a lot of the players we have (brought in) will be shown the door during the summer.
