You know, I totally agree with Keegan. You guys were talking about "The REAL test for Mort and Ashley" in another thread. Well, for me this is the real test. Ashley has no other option than to fork out some cash. What's he suppose to do? Sack the Messiah? mackems.gif
Well THAT would be the end for this club, surely!
It seems as though Ashley does not have the money to back his managers in the transfer market. After he bought the club and paid off the debt, it seems like little "Big Mike's" bank account is close to 0 (Zero). Really a shame! And you know what.. of all the people at the club, I have the most trust in Kevin Keegan.

To be honest I don't feel our ambition has changed that much, basically because I couldn't care less what the media write about Newcastle. One could of course discuss forever reasons and meanings behind everything that's being said and done.
The thing of interest though, is Ashley and Mort. Yes, it's true they paid off a considerable amount of debt. It is also true that because Newcastle don't win anything (has done that for years now) the income level is below the "top four". Rish people don't invest a great deal of money without getting some sort of return. So, for Ashley, what is the sensible thing to do? Considering Man City, West Ham and Chelseas (among others) spending spree in recent years, only Chelsea have returned stable success (that is, now in the top four). But they spend more than they earn. The other clubs have had varying success when you consider the amount of money they have spent. Tottenham now bought Modric, but struggled in the EPL, Man City bought alot of players and did a very impressive first half season, but the fell apart (and now Eriksson is leaving?)
Most fans expect Ashley to show is financial power in the transfer market this summer, and when Owen's contract still hasn't been negotiated and there's a lot of uncertain aspects concerning, people (the fans) start worrying. I, for one, consider Newcastle to have taken a very big step in the right direction by clearing debt, improving (?) the infrastructure by appointing Wise, Jimenez and Vetere and so on.
Next would of course (?) be to hand Keegan his "war-chest". I really appreciated Keegans loyality and honesty. What he is saying, wether it is frustration or pressure.. is that we are a club that has not preformed well recent years, infact we haven't won a single competition, nor are we in Europe. We are also known for being the media's "drama queen" - something always happen with and at Newcastle. In other word, we are media favorite team to write shit about, and stirr things up.
If you consider this, with the fact that spending a lot of cash does not guarantee success, and that we are miles from the "top four" it all makes sense. For all I know, the geographical positioning of Newcastle might be an important factor why certain players choose Chelsea, Spurs or other southern clubs ahead of us.
The bottom line is, as some already have written, this has been blown out of proportions. Come August, and I bet we have Strengthen the Squad, and gotten rid of some dead wood.

Allardyce Will Always Be Remembered For... making me excited ahead of this season, and partly optimistic... but quickly driving me into frustration, and pessimism...

Half time : How are we doing?
Finished horribly but started very well with periods of mediocrity in between.
So, nothing new? Just the same old story? Guess it'll be another loss today?

Toon are 66% worse off under Keegan
KEVIN KEEGAN has made Newcastle 66 per cent weaker — and that’s official.
The hapless Toon boss has seen the club’s points-per-game average plunge by that staggering amount since taking over in January.
And ahead of today’s Blackburn clash, skipper Michael Owen admitted: “Confidence isn’t at its best. There is nervousness.”
A SunSport survey reveals their average points return has slumped from 1.18 to just 0.40 per game since winless Keegan succeeded Sam Allardyce.
That’s easily the worst of the eight Premier League bosses appointed since the start of the season.
Spurs’ Juande Ramos has had the most positive impact with an amazing 161 per cent improvement.
Owen, who had to wear the players’ ‘I had a Sh****!’ novelty T-shirt for being the worst trainer this week, said: “We need a win and the sooner the better.
“As soon as we get that confidence will come flooding back.
“We’ve got an awful lot of games left and we aren’t in the relegation zone.
“We’re not at panic stations but are well aware we need to get a result — and fast.”

MICHAEL OWEN admits Newcastle's confidence has hit rock bottom.
The Toon have not won in their last 10 matches.
And Owen, who has scored twice in the last three games, says Kevin Keegan's men are desperate for a victory.
The England striker, 28, revealed: "Confidence isn't at it's best.
"There is nervousness throughout the side.
"We need a win and the sooner the better.
"As soon as we get that I think confidence will come flooding back."
Despite sitting just six points off the drop zone, Owen is not worried about getting dragged into a relegation battle.
He added: "We've got an awful lot of games left and we aren't in the relegation zone at the moment.
"We're not at panic stations but we are obviously well aware we need to get a result — and fast.
"This game against Blackburn on Saturday is one you look at and think Newcastle at home should be getting something out of it."

"Nice" to hear that from our new cpt.....

omg, we got Keegan for god sake! What we need is for this thread to be closed.
-
That's true!
Probably the worst fans in England are the man utd fans, they can't stand draws or losses. They are so spoilt and demanding.
-
Hopefully our team would look something like this next season:
GKs: Given, Jussi Jääskeläinen, Tim Krul
DL: Enrique, Nicky shory/Wayne Bridge
DC: Taylor, Faye, Campbell
DR: Beye, Faty, Wes Brown
ML: Zogbia, Downing
MR: Arshavin/Bentley, Milner
MC: Barton (If he can sort out his problems), Carrick, Adrien, Albelda/Aimar
ST: Owen (If he signs a new contract), Martins, Carroll, Crouch/Ashton/Cisse
Know it's too much to hope for, but still.. would be sweet!
-
Hmm.. Im just gonna
before the match...
I'm sharing hoiuse with two crazy man utd fans, and they always invite a bunch of other man utd fans whenever they play a match. :-[
Now that's pressure... can't fucking stand it. I'll go home earlier if we are 2 or 3 goals up ..
-
I hope Lyon give Man Utd a really good match, and that Man Utd really have to work to find their way around. That may increase our chances on saturday.
-
It's more likely L'pool will get taken over before us. So why not write about that shit first, and how Wenger and Benitez had a perfect day at work?
THE clock is ticking and the detonator is in place

Do you have official links to back that up? (not trying to be an ass here, but I've only read it on the internet) As far as I know, we backed out because Dinamo demanded to much. Well, for me, here's the thing. The last time we did really good was under Sir Bobby Robson, a true geordie lover. Since Keegan in the 90's it only went one way... and that was certainly not up. We got Robson and we did very well... for me.. an important reason for that is that he really cared about newcastle and really cared about the job in hand. His passion was true Geordie love. Keegan is the exact same in my eyes, only younger.
I don't want to blow this out of proportion now, as it is just a meeting, and for all we know it might be a very positive meeting... but as a final say: We better spend some money this summer, cause our squad is really thin, and seriously lacking the req. talents in some areas.
