http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/4940522/Cristiano-Ronaldo-in-tunnel-bust-up-at-Newcastle.html Cristiano Ronaldo in tunnel bust-up at Newcastle Cristiano Ronaldo was embroiled in a furious bust-up in the St James' Park tunnel with Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor midway through Manchester United's 2-1 victory on Tyneside on Wednesday night. By Rob Stewart Last Updated: 12:16AM GMT 05 Mar 2009 In an extraordinary spat as United restored their seven-point lead at the Premier League summit, the pair traded insults at half-time just moments after the United forward had been left writhing in agony, clutching his face on the cinder track, following an intemperate challenge by the England Under-21 captain. According to witnesses, Ronaldo and Taylor were involved in a war of words as they headed to their respective dressing-rooms which saw the World Player of the Year allegedly ridicule his opponent's footballing skill. Taylor hit back by branding the Portuguese international "ugly" as temperatures rose before Ronaldo's team-mate, Rio Ferdinand, and referee Steve Bennett, intervened. The fracas occurred shortly after Ferdinand was booked by Bennett for his furious reaction to Taylor's challenge on Ronaldo. Newcastle's caretaker manager, Chris Hughton, defended his player. "Steven's not a malicious type of player," he said. "He's a player of high energy and enthusiasm and that's what we expect from his play. "Ronaldo was going past Steven and it was probably a bit headstrong of Steven but in his endeavours to pull him back he caught him on the shoulder and I think that's all it was. I have had the opportunity to seen it again on television. Anybody that would have looked at the incident again would have seen where it made contact and he made contact on the top of his shoulder and his neck." Hughton said that he did not know if any United players had been enraged by Taylor's challenge on Ronaldo in which he used his hands and feet. Hughton did, however, speak with Taylor in an attempt to avoid having him sent off as he had been booked by Bennett. "The only word that we had with Steven was the same as we would have with anyone that had been booked in the first half," Hughton said. "That's that they have to be careful because they are only one booking away from a red card." Newcastle are just one point above the relegation zone and were also the subject of reports of a training ground altercation between team-mates Andy Carroll and Shola Ameobi.

Like anyone on here gives a shit about who wins the title?
-
51,000 there and they're going on about the disappointing turnout (on 5 live). That's when they're not wanking over Rooney.
-
Steven Taylor just went up in my estimation, doing what thousands of us would like to do to that prancing c***.

NUSC write up of Llambias attendance at the Supporters Panel meeting
dustynrg replied to Happy Face's topic in Football
That may be but they have the advantage of being trained journalists and they can string a few sentences together without sounding much like a 6 year old. And they have the added advantage of an audience of whatever the paper's circulation is. Unless NUSC can find a similar outlet and better "reporters" they'll always be at a disadvantage unless they put their views across in a more readable and grown up fashion. The worry for them must be that if the local press have turned against them they'll soon be struggling to get their points across. -

"Teasdale was later revelling in his new found "fame" and excitedly told the Journal: "His (Derek Llambias) explanations were fair enough." Crikey, stick the knife in. I thought that was a good article but probably won't serve as a warning to NUSC at all to get their act together. If they don't have any more support from the local rags they'll need to work very hard indeed to get it back. Or fade into oblivion. I wonder where they'll be in one year's time? -
It's strange how he isn't that popular wherever he plays though. It's not just here, Liverpool fans couldn't be that arsed with him either. It''s got nothing to do with being a "badgekisser" or not, it's more to do with the feeling that he isnt really part of the team (apart from England). On the other hand, no-one can fault his professionalism or his attitude, he just doesn't appear to be part of things, hence people's opinions of him.

As someone said before, Llambias and NUSC come across as bad as each other, the way that report is written looks snidey, and frankly, ignorant. Just give us the facts, not the smart arse comments and the "My Dad's bigger than your Dad" crap. The TF report was miles and miles better and gave us some facts far more than whoever wrote the "NUSC notes". We all know being a Newcastle fan is garbage at the moment but acting like 6 year old schoolboys does neither Llambias or NUSC any good whatsoever and is more likely to inflame things to an even worse state. Oh for Chris Mort being back in the chair, but it's not going to happen. Wouldn't it be great just to go to be able to go to a game and cheer the lads on and forget about all this shite. -
I can't believe Colo is getting stick. Ask yourselves why since Bobby left our defences have been crappier than crap? Good defenders arrive here like Boumsong (yes Boumsong) and Cacapa and Colo and in no time at all they're being ripped apart by strikers and us and MOTD. I've always thought the fault isn't always with the defenders but the midfield. We've never really had a collective decent midfield, players who worked together, melded well, DEFENDED well. It's like a leaking sieve. And Habib Beye would have tracked Gardner, without a shadow of a doubt. All this technical talk of why it should have been Colo who saved us instead of Taylor does my head in. Habib would have cracked it - no earthly doubt.

Bentley is everything that's wrong with football, misses a penalty and can't help looking at himself on the big screen as he walks back to the centre circle, it's a wonder he didn't have a comb in his pocket to adjust his hair. As soon as it went to pens Man U had won, Spurs players don't have the bottle for such stuff.

Andy Grey - "Scholesy" I was waiting for "Ahhh he just can't tackle" chuckle, there's time yet I suppose.

Newcastle’s director of football going in the summer By MARTIN HARDY, 28/02/2009 DENNIS WISE will end his controversial stay as Newcastle’s executive director of football in the summer. Sport of the World has learned that the former Chelsea star is set to step down from his position at the end of the season. Wise’s appointment in January last year, just days after Kevin Keegan had completed a stunning return to power at St James’ Park, was ultimately a major factor in the departure that ripped the club apart. Owner Mike Ashley backed Wise, whose involvement in transfers infuriated Keegan and significantly diluted his powers. But Wise is now ready to leave his £1.2million-a-year position at Newcastle, despite being heavily involved in the club’s January transfer window negotiations. He set up deals for Albin Ebondo and Michael Johnson which fell through and was offered Peter Lovenkrands BEFORE Kinnear. He also tied up Ryan Taylor’s switch to the North East. Perilous His mandate has also been to develop the club’s academy and he has overseen an influx of overseas young talent. But he has remained a hugely unpopular figure at the club and he will leave by mutual consent. Despite the unrest, the Toon WILL stick to the same management structure that caused such annoyance with Keegan. Subject to medical clearance, Kinnear will return to the Newcastle hotseat, but with Wise’s impending departure, he could eventually be offered a similar role, allowing Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood to take training. Ashley is bracing himself for a further £8 pay-out. He will have to pay former boss Keegan around £4m from his own pocket over his exit. Keegan had claimed £8m for constructive dismissal while Toon chiefs countered with a suit of their own for breach of contract, demanding £2m. But the club are seeking a quick settlement and hope to push through a package this week. Spirit But such is the perilous nature of the club’s finances that Ashley will have to fund the Keegan pay-out on his own. England striker Michael Owen will also be offered a new deal in the summer at significantly less than the £110,000-a-week he currently picks up, having already turned down a reduced three-year deal worth £12m. It is assumed he will spark a Bosman scramble but team-mate Nicky Butt last night said: “I still believe Michael could be staying. “Negotiations have stopped at the minute but it’s not like he’s going about saying he wants to leave. There could be a bit of a shock. He might stay.” Toon face Bolton today and Butt added: “We all have to stand up and be counted. We have the fighting spirit and the players to keep the club up.”

Aye but we love him and he loves us, it's a lerve thing.

To be honest. If I was in my twenties, earning more money a week than my Dad used to see in a year, and birds who wanted my willy because I kick a football well you are gonna party a fair bit. I'm not a huge lover of nights out but with all that free time once a week wouldn't be too bad. As for the SAFC thing thats just daft. Should two mates who work for rival mobile companies not hang out together? These players will have known each other long before their time here and if they want to go and relax with friends so be it. As long as it doesn't get in the way of the football I don't care ,I hardly saw Bassong giving his mate Cisse an inch. If only. I haven't got a problem with them dipping their dicks, if the lasses want the badge, give them it. Its the drinking to excess and not just once a week that pisses me off. Funny how the pro's who dont get ratted 3 times a week stay fit. What - like Owen and Viduka and Smith?

I see it's on Setanta Ireland, you'd have thought it would be on 5 or something.

Which channel is it on brummie?

Whose, Freddie's? mackems.gif

You KNOW the guy is an A1 arsehole, he'll say anything to big himself up (via talking about Spurs naturally), isn't he the best coach in the country and other such nonsense? If they lose a couple more he'll either walk or start to blame the players (again).
-
Just had a peep at the Everton boards and they reckon they'll win this 5, 6 or 7 0. I'm not sure if they're joking or not.
-
I'm amazed, I mean how dare they rule a Man U goal offside?
-
Are you being ironic? I'm glad to see his corners and crosses have on the whole been pretty poor as they were with us. If he's England material then God help us is all I can say. Start of Villa's bad spell tbh, they've ridden their luck far too long. Watch and wait.

And their funny handshakes... Or is that the other lot?

That's only because thankfully most good posters and righteous NUFC citizens don't post on this forum. This board is full of mackems, wums and johnny foreigners, didn't ya knaa lyke? You forgot the agents provacateur(s).

It's worked in the past. he's already almost 2 years into the "grand plan", these "plans" which people said always succeeded. Or do I take it, he's starting again to see how the next 2 years goes too ? Shame the grand plan of actually capitalising on the clubs fanbase, and strengthening the current first team and encouraging our best players to see a future at the club wasn't on the radar. I'm worried we're not following the Spurs "plan" closely enough. Spurs are spending money, we will never be like that. Yeh and look how high up the table Spurs are....

This may be your best ever post, I absolutely wholeheartedly agree with every sentiment. And on another note, how anyone can argue that Man U haven't bought the League (but Chelsea have) is such complete bollocks. Ferdinand, Rooney and Ronaldo cost about 70 million but that was YEARS ago, so that doesn't count? Even Nani cost a reported cool 16 million, Berbatov 33 million, - looking at the team on Saturday the cost must be around 100 million at least, but they haven't bought the league?
