  1. "Owen is a much better player than Martins." Well he hasn't been this season if number of goals and assists is the criteria you're basing your judgement on. And what else can you base a striker's measure of success on?
  2. Well all I can say is that it will be like going back to the seventies/eighties if they bring in quotas, whoopdedoo, we can watch a team full of Huntingdons, Carrolls and Chopras (ooh, Chopra - isn't that a FOREIGN name? We'll have to look at how we can stop the Chopras of this world playing here as well). And look at all the trophies England won in the 70s and 80s - and 90s when we had only a few foreigners in the Leagues..... Oh.
  3. Yes I give you that one about the transfer fees, but I still think most Agents are scumbags and greedy bastards.
  4. I just don't understand why no-one asks why Bent cost 16 million , how many goals has he scored so far, 1? Carrick cost what 18 million? Is he worth that? Was Jenas worth 8 million and so on and so on, SO why are English players so expensive? They're rarely as good as their foreign equivalents. No wonder clubs don't go after English players, expensive but not particularly world beaters, or even close. Watching Portsmouth the other week the thought struck me, THIS is the future of English football, cheap, African players who love the game, who love having the chance to play the game they're good at and relish the chance at making a bit of money for themselves. They're also not up their own backsides like a list of the England players (take your pick from about 20). I hope that this foreigners cap talk disappears and fast, if the English players are good enough they will rise to the top, perhaps if the greedy bastard agents drop their price a bit there might be more English players bought and sold. If you ask me it's all jingositic, xenophobic nonsense with a teensy weensy bit of racism hoyed in for good measure.
  5. He's obviously got a routine wich drives me insane as well, he takes exactly the same time to kick out every ball, I counted the seconds at one game as it was driving me mental and the timing was exactly the same every fecking time. He should have watched David James last week, his distribution is how it should be - fast and accurate - no hangin about, slowly walking back, kicking his boots and so on and feckin so on. >

    Players in public

You must be dyslexic - I saw his 4 x4 (Landrover I think) last week, it's either 5MRE or EMR5 or something like that.

    Mike Ashley

So you've read 40 hours worth of articles about him and nowhere have you read where he's a recluse and unknown to most of his staff? Riiigghht. Here are a few links for you, they weren't hard to find, just type in Mike Asley Recluse in google. Why can't we all just be pleased he's obvioulsy enjoying life at SJP instead of dissecting his every fart forgodssake. We moaned endlessly about Fat Freddie, let's be pleased and optomisitc and get the positive vibe going for once. http://uk.reuters.com/article/sportsNews/idUKL0776077820070607 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Ashley_(businessman) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/global/main.jhtml?xml=/global/2007/02/14/nrecluse14.xml http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,2138093,00.html
  8. OK then name me one wonderful football commentator of the male variety (or pundit come to think), especially on MOTD - erm, easy, they are all shite.
  9. Spot the obvious mistake, "bought a month ago" - he's been with Celtic since last summer. It's a crap story from a crap source and no doubt has come from the McKay stable. Ignore it. As someone said, why pay 9 mill for a player that cost Celtic 4.5? Not Sam's way AT ALL and Freddie's gone so it's a non story, I'll bet my mortgage on it.
  10. We might be like the jealous girlfriend but he's acting like a spoilt brat. He expects to be starting every time, says things like "I'll be fit for the next game" but doesn't add "if selected" after it, puts his pet lip on and says the only person he will listen to in terms of his fitness is the surgeon (so in other words stuff you Allardyce), gets his mate to say he doesn't know why everyone is criticising him, doesn't celebrate his goal and cups his ear a la Dyer and god help us Reo Coker, makes a programme about how he is ultra passionate about horses but doesn't come over that way about football. He's part of the reason why I can't be arsed about the England team, along with other precious ones like Ferdinand, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney et al. And once he's got the record for England goals he won't be arsed either. I'll be amazed if he plays 5 games on the trot never mind 30, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be injured come January when Oba's away at the African Nations.
  11. I still think he's been influenced by his England colleagues, and his father is playing the game of speaking to the press and then denying anything was ever said and then oh how hurt and upset he is, oldest PR ploy in the book. Except he's dealing with Mort now who won't be impressed. However I'm sure the deal will be signed and sealed later than sooner, and we'll be subject to every move by his "no clue how to be an agent" father. Why isn't he aware that an opening offer is just that, he says not enough, they offer more and so it goes on. No doubt similar offers were made to Milner and N'Zogbia and were turned down too but we didn't have all this nonsense.
  12. This smells to me like he's been talking to other England players and has been unsettled by them. And for some inexplicable reason he thinks by going to the local press he'll get the fans' sympathy because he is a Geordie, if he thinks that he doesn't realise that no-one is bigger than the club and the fans will soon turn against him. The fact that he's saying "play me or I'll go in January" is an absolute disgrace. Frankly if that's his attitude then he can feck off. A 21 year old picking the team? Aye that'll be right. I don't care if he's the best defender in the world (which he isn't and never will be), we've had enough of young English so called talent with "potential" that never appears and too much "aren't I the greatest" attitude (Jenas, Dyer, to name 2). Don't let anyone think this is made up by the press, it's being drip fed to them, word by word. The fact that he and his father are annoyed that Sam is saying they shouldn't have gone to the papers shows what naive negotiators they are. Get an agent son - and if you don't like it here bog off to West Ham to lord it around with your England mates. >
  13. Leave it as it is - I think more and more Newcastle fans really couldn't care much about England anyway. If having more foreigners means the national team goes down the pan then so be it, supply and demand and all that. Wouldn't keeping places open for English players be positive discrimination? Isn't that against the law?
  14. Being at the game on Saturday I was extremely impressed with Geremi - he seemed to be at the heart of everything, in the right place at the right time. The stats also bear that out. The only disappointment were his free kicks (corners are Ok though), but now that Nobby is gone we don't realistically have anyone else, Milner's free kicks are pretty poor, Emre's are atrocious, I suppose the Zog may be a contender. I'm disappointed that people would be so negative so early about a new player who's played less than a dozen games for us. He's good now but once he settles he'll be even better. And captain wise he talks about 6 languages, he's articulate and I can't see him hiding from the cameras in defeat like Parker so often did. He'll only be "dropped" if he's injured.
  15. I see Stuart Rayner of the Chronicle says that West Ham are due to make a bid for Giles Barnes as they can't or won't buy Dyer. Do these journos ever talk to each other? >
  16. It could be someone else feeding him stories of course, the same person that fed him the Dyer story, someone else with a grudge against the club and with a shaky connection to West Ham? :shifty:
  17. Are Beresford and Oliver best mates? Beresford slated Oba all the way through the game today on Setanta. There seems to be a concerted effort to get rid of Oba by a small clique. He obviously doesn't give interviews to Anal , could it be as simple as that?

    Kieron Dyer

I'm sure he'll be away, I'd put money on it. I think/hope they've looked into his tw*ttish history and said feck him, we'll make it hard for him and make him suffer, I hope so anyway. Petty I know......

    That c*** Oliver

So Owen is out for a month and we would say to Martins he should find a new club? Oh. Yes Anal that makes a lot of sense. He's panicking big style, innit.
  20. The way I look at it is anything I spend on SKY/Setanta is entertainment, it's a meal out or a few pints in the pub a couple of times a month and a taxi home, so it's worth it in my book but I do see what you mean about the difference in price with Premiership Plus. I got a 16 year old the first time I phoned Setanta, she sniffed throughout the call said eh a lot and I thought this will be a miracle if it works - I nearly asked her if she needed to borrow somebody's hankie. She took my details and that was that - result. A week after Setanta went off altogether, I phoned again, got a really nice woman who said "I can't understand it, your bank details have disappeared altogether". I didn't say well I'm not surprised at all, I said mmm wondered how that happened? She said I really don't know, but you're the second person in a row it's happened to! Anyway all is well now. Roll on next Saturday. BTW our game v Bolton is being covered live by Talksport - ful commentary.

He just sounded like a bitter and twisted old man, you would think that the only thing had happened since May was that Dyer had gone to West Ham and we were reliant on the dosh to sign Smith. So then it was a whole thing of "oh well what happens if it falls thru and NUFC won't get the money" and well Smith has been signed now, bla bla. No mention of Cacapa, or Viduka, or any other signings. Oh no "sam's not happy" "it's not like it was in the brochure". Of course the other "source" at NUFC that is gone is Dyer. Who else would have told him that he was going to West Ham? Sam wouldn't. And you can see Dyer telling him that if Lampard was going, Chelsea would come in for him, because let's face it the only fool who would believe that would be Dyer himself (and Anal of course). But Anal's a danger because he will use his negativity against the club he supposedly loves.
  22. Every time I see a post like this I wonder if some folk would like him better if he was called Billy Martin and he was from Wallsend? I think the answer is kind of obvious.
