So not EVERY NUFC fan is a George fan. But I suspect 99% will be.
  2. I've heard Rolf Harris doing Led Zeppelins "Stairway To Heaven" though (Seriously. He DID - got to no.7 in the charts) Dolly Parton's version of Stairway is ace and better than Rolf's. So there.

Every Newcastle fan should read that and every stupid journo who thinks Ashley's 20 million will go into buying players should read it too. I like this Georgey boy more and more.
  4. And then be added to Ashley's hate list, KK, Shearer, the fans, Shepherd. I doubt it's this though, Hughton would probably grab 5k a week.
  5. Saw that - he was commenting on the latest sale report about Ashley rejecting the moat bid. Claims neither side are making any comment about it (the report) Until Hughton signs on the dotted line I refuse to give up hope that we'll be sold I wonder how they're excusing this delay to him? I can't imagine that Hughton is on on this wheeze of smoking out buyers. But I'm sure that's the reason he's been 'offered' the job.
  6. It seems to me he wants out for definite, he's just playing the gambler he is and so is Moat. He didn't, for whatever reason, want to sell to Sheard and his crew and he and Moat have entered into this endgame, let's hope it's the final stages. If he wanted to keep the club he would have announced it by now. The puzzle is why he has told Hughton the job is his, another chess move I suspect. If Moat pulls this off and raises more money it shows his determination, I can't see him throwing in the towel now (Moat that is).
  7. More likely he's decided that there's very little prospect of selling the club this season, and the manager's position needs to be settled at least until next year. Potential buyers aren't willing to take the risk on a Championship club with a high wage bill. If we're promoted, they've got a bargain, but if not, then they'd have to bear a loss. Why does it need to be settled? Hughton is doing ok as he is, why does anything need to change if the club is not sold? Leave him in the caretaker role. I know what you mean, but it gives everyone the message that change is not imminent and the owner is planning for the status quo to remain for the rest of the season. It's also a vote of confidence in Hughton and, indirectly, the players. It's also only fair that if he's doing a manager's job, that he gets recognition for it. Of course why didn't we think of that, we have to realise how Ashley is such a sensible and erudite thinker, and how he always aims to do the good and correct thing.
  8. Quite, I wonder how Hughton will feel if Moat takes over and he's paid off (cheap for Moat anyway). Ashley probably thinks it will sour Shearer to the fans as well if Hughton is turfed out while we''re at the top of the League.
  9. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1222962/Charles-Sale-Newcastle-owner-Mike-Ashley-dithers-80m-sale-Barry-Moat.html?ITO=1490#ixzz0V01Ss0El From the Daily Mail CHARLES SALE: Newcastle owner Mike Ashley dithers over £80m sale to Barry Moat Last updated at 12:27 AM on 26th October 2009 Mike Ashley's sale of Newcastle reached new farcical levels over the weekend with the owner - having given the impression he would finally accept the reduced offer of £80million from long-time prospective buyer Barry Moat - delaying his decision yet again. This is the third time in less than two weeks that Ashley had called supposedly definitive meetings having indicated he was prepared to do a deal with Moat. This is despite Moat continually falling short of raising the £100m that Ashley has wanted from the start of this interminable selling process. Deal or no deal? Don't ask Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley And sports retail tycoon Ashley, whose Newcastle thinking differs on a daily basis, has made these promises of an imminent sale while at the same time offering caretaker manager Chris Hughton the role on a permanent basis - which wouldn't be in his gift if he sold the club. To complicate further a mess that the near 44,000 fans who watched Newcastle beat Doncaster on Saturday don't deserve, Geoff Sheard's rival consortium were ruled out of the sale, having failed to place £100m in their lawyers' client account by last Friday's deadline. Yet the Sheard team claim the money will be in place this week - and no one else has been rejected from this circus.
  10. I just find it strange that Hughton was to be appointed on Tuesday, then Friday, then after the game yesterday. But there he is, still hanging about waiting for Llambias to find a pen. Looks to me like they are stringing him along until Moat finally finds the dosh. Except they haven't told him their devious little plan.
  11. How does 'something does not add up. Halliwells agree too' translate into Moat bid accepted?
  12. Hope you weren't silly enough to put a bet on that.
  13. And bore them to death in the process. The Celtic fans hated the way he had them playing, even though they won stuff. I just don't get sacking Southgate who bored them all to death and replace them with a little naff arsehole who will bore them all to death and annoy them in the process. Thank Christ he was probably too expensive for Ashley.
  14. What a pile of kack that article is.
  15. Hughton isn't really up to the job. He should be thanked for his efforts anyways, but he (and the team) are being found out now - BIG TIME. The players probably think, wtf we'll all be sold anyway in January, so why bother? And they will know they can walk all over Hughton, and they probably are (sounds like it accordin to Caulkin's article).
  16. Having Ashley as an owner is like having a cruel stepfather, he hates your guts but tries not to be too blatant about it. Moat would be like a Guardian Angel in his place. Ashley has money but refuses to spend it (because he has some kind of plan of buying kids to sell on like he sells his crap trainers), at least Moat would be in a position to find backers and has a genuine love for the club (we assume). Nothing could be worse than this for the club, to have a guy who walks all over us and enjoys it like a school yard bully.
  17. Mmm, my theory from yesterday (and someone else's if I remember correctly). So he screws Keegan, Shearer and now Hughton, nice guy Fatash, full of class. I wonder if Hughton will put up with being used as a pawn? Probably. He'll stay until chucked. Haway Barry man, do the business, at this rate we'll be hoying ourselves off the Tyne Bridge en masse.
  18. Aye I thought this, good to know I'm not the only cynic. I just don't believe a word they utter. I think everything is done for a reason for them and their ends. On the other hand giving Hughton the job would be typical, he's cheap, he won't argue and he'll say all the right things when Enrique, Taylor and Jonas are sold in January with another Harewood or Raylor coming in (or even worse) for three months.
  19. If there is no long term plan, whats the point then ? I dont buy the "it gives us stability" line because we are, apparently, still on the market and being run by an incomptent bunch of fuckwits. Having a bloke in charge with the official title of "manager" doesnt change that one iota. The best way to give us some stability would be to appoint a full time manager, employ a proper MD from a football background and, most importantly, strengthen the squad. Hell will freeze over and we'll still be owned by Ashley, have a fuckwit like Llambias as MD and have a squad like the pub down the road, except we might be in the Conference by then - or lower.
  20. He was the worst player on Saturday, lost the ball everytime he got it. He wants to be grateful we've taken him on - hopefully he'll be gone in January.
  21. It is his club he owns it..... Without the fans there would be no club, its ours and it'll still be our club years from now when the fat prick is long gone. Dustynrg, no team can be expected to be strong enough for the Premiership when they're still in the Championship, the time the strengthen for the Premiership is in the summer after promotion. Fair enough, but my point is if Ashley is still in charge when and if we get promoted there is no earthly chance of him strengthening the squad, he will think he can get away with spending no money. On his previous form there's no hope of him strengthening.
  22. Don't worry they'll see us again the season after. I'm sure they'll survive until then.
  23. The problem is (and of course Ashley can't see it) the squad is nowhere near strong enough if we get promoted. We'd get slaughtered by the likes of Arsenal and even Spurs with the likes of R Taylor and Harewood (FFS) and Butt. On one hand he says he knows nothing about football and on the other he has to have final say in who's bought? I just want him and his scabby greasy liar of a friend to fuck off, I'd rather have Moat with no money than that waster who has money but refuses to build up the club. GET OUT OF OUR CLUB!
  24. Talking about Sirous Mahjoob, can we add this to the list of Ashley/Llambias lies? You can just imagine them making up a story for a laugh. It was Llambias who told a journalist about this Sirous Mahjoob. I just wish they'd bog off for good but it's looking less and less likely.
