Imo our best period of play was the last 10-15 games when the midfield pairing was Shelvey and Diame. We dominated opposition midfields at times. I think we can all agree. merino's young. Hopefully he sticks around and finds his way in the league. At this point, he's a worthy backup and I'd never complain if I saw him in the starting sheet.
Early when he was starting, I feel like we wern't dominating like we do now.
I'd like to see it. I think we tried it in a couple games but we just lumped balls up to him. Would like to see what he can do with the ball on the ground.
Dunno, I see him giving the ball away cheaply. Not physical enough to get it back. Anything good with him isn't effortless. He has to exert maximum effort to pull things off IMO.
I can see us getting frustrated with him in the same way we did with Colback.
Couldnt believe it when a sky panel I watched last week said he was going to be our most influential player at the wc.
I Love sterling for sure, but He's an off the ball/first touch player. I feel like we're going to give him the ball in Russia and say "make something happen". That's not him. He'll be hung out to dry. At City he's got De Bruyne, Silva and Sane to feed him. No way we have the artilerary in England to do it.
I think our real influential player wil be Kyle Walker. He'll get up and down the right and cause damage.
Dunno how he plays, but Emery does have quite the impressive resume.
Excellent win statistics and his list of honors is admirable.
