I don't see any faux indignation in here. I also don't see anybody saying you're morally wrong if you continue to support the club and the takeover without worrying about sportswashing. All I see is people saying, for themselves, that they're working through some level of discomfort with the level of connection with KSA. I can't see why anyone who isn't interested in that aspect would care that others are.

The thing to me is that it's not binary. You can support the club and the the takeover and not one bit diminish your ability to criticize the KSA, if you want to. Or not -- and it doesn't mean you support the KSA.

Maybe we can repurpose some support the team, not the regime flags.

I wasn't doing any particular ranking or comparisons of wrongs in my post--simply pointing out that it's completely normal and rational for me to be able to love my home country while still being horrified by things my country does. In the same way, it's perfectly normal and rational for us to be able to continue to love and support the club while also being horrified by things the KSA does. It's part of the calculus of every day life.

I'm very uncomfortable with many of the things my own home country does. It's the only place I've lived and the only place I've ever known. It's my home and I love it. The world-- and life itself--are complex and nuanced. Yet we navigate through it every day and survive it as best we can; finding moments of joy and peace and contentment as and where we can; balancing risks and rewards as best we can; trying to do good when we can and avoid doing harm, all while keeping in mind there are no absolutes and everything has issues of magnitude and proximity. This is no different.

Harm the fucking brand. You know what harms the fucking brand? The PL being utterly fucking incompetent. Greedy owners secretly setting up closed shops, fuck anybody else's interests. Harm the fucking brand. Fuck off.

PL should offer them arbitration.

Unfortunately, that's the price of this going through. PL transparently kowtows to Bein and fucks over a member club, its fanbase, a city, and a region at its behest. No repercussions.

There's really no way this gets done without a binding agreement to withdraw the CAT case. Nothing on the CAT site yet, but it probably takes a couple of days for stuff to show up on line.
