Especially happy for all you that live in the area, knowing that the knock-on effects for the community ought to be pretty huge.

new forum who dis?

Not that I've seen. Even the ones that usually pick at each other seem to be singing from the same sheet.

Fair deal.

I mean, it was irrational, and not framed as belief, but as actual knowledge, and he was totally condescending, buy yeah, good on him.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's not get carried away, here.
-
I won't let them hurt me again.
-
And if it wasn't clear before, it's certainly clear now that broadcast partners can bully the PL into doing pretty much whatever the fuck they want.
-
I hate it when that couch their tweets this way. Like, I don't give a shit about confidence. We've had confidence before. It means shit. I don't care what's "thought" by anybody. I have lots of thoughts that amount to shit. If you have anonymous sources just say you've got anonymous sources. If you're speculating, say you're speculating.

Let me know when you've decided it's time to order a pizza, @Ameritoon
-
That was short lived.

Yeah, and if so, then an extra hearty "Fuck you" to the PL, because it's basically just confirming "yup we're corrupt as fuck". (But also we'll still take the takeover, though. )
-
As a director it would have to submit a declaration about a whole laundry list of things specified under the rules -- a lot of we haven't done this, we have done that, this is true, that isn't, etc. -- and it would have to comply with PL rules. As a sovereign nation, it's generally not going to want to do that sort of thing.

"The Premier League has now been provided with written assurances that the Saudi state will not interfere with the running of the club and that only the PIF will be involved in Newcastle operations along with minority shareholders. Any breach of that undertaking could lead to directors being suspended." If this is the case, it's an absolute farce that this hasn't been done eons ago. It also doesn't get KSA outside of the definition of "Director" but if the PL's willing to buy it, more power to them.
-
They could say that and let it go through, but logically it doesn't hold water. The rules don't say "test someone when there's a complaint," they say "you're a director under factual circumstances x, y, and z, and as a director you've got to do 1, 2, and 3."
-
The fucking state of this. "Newcastle takeover deal back on . . . . Potential deal could be revived . . ."
-
@Jackie Broon knows.

The PL's position has never been "KSA's a director, but it can't be a director because piracy." It's been "KSA is a director because of the relationship between KSA and PIF, full stop. So KSA has to acknowledge it's a director and give us the declaration and information required under the rules, which it hasn't done." As a matter of logic, removing piracy doesn't solve that issue. I don't doubt that piracy was an issue, or even the sole issue, driving the PL behind the scenes, but they've never copped to that before, and to let this go through now they'd either have to cop to that or just say "Yeah, so we just decided we were wrong about that whole director thing. Soz."
-
I'll tell you what. Even though I'm very skeptical, I really, really hope this does go through. No supporter deserves to endure the unending firehose blast of shit to the face that we have, only to have hope yanked away yet again.
-
I mean that's fucking categorically not true.
-
I mean if the PL does let this go through I will totally not complain one bit. But fuck it, like, just crumple up the entire PL rules, because they mean fucking nothing. Start using hands in games!
-
I'm going to be the lone hold out. Not happening.

The Athletic dude does not even claim to have a source.
