The only logical conclusion is the checks completed on Wednesday. Funds transfer started immediately and is now complete. They agreed to delay the announcement until after the weekend to discourage breaking of social distancing. I’m bi polar with regard to the take over. Half my brain is saying something is rotten after they expected the checks to be done on Thursday but then got pushed back. I think the whole thing could have gone to shit. The other half is believing that the store being down is due to the deal being done and sports direct no longer having the commercial agreement to be the club store.

Also if there is no relegation. Liverpool are champions all but mathematically that will be confirmed after a couple games. So the only reason the season is finished is financial and to decide champions league spots. So 4-5 motivated teams. 14-15 teams with players who are playing for noting and potentially don't want to be there. There will be some shocking results. What a farce.. Players could just say fuck that I’m not going to as football concentration camp for a month I want to be with my family. possibly aye, but highly unlikely unless they live with at risk people for example The question is be asking myself is do I trust the rest of the players in the league/ my team to not go out on a bender the night before the football training starts. There have been stories about parties etc already. So the more mature players potentially with kids having to in effect increase their social circle to toe rags. Out of 500 players I reckon there will a few that refuse to take part. they'll be getting tested every day or whatever mind, but yeah if it's incubating and not picked up that's a risk of course but is that going to be any different when people go back into offices & on transport etc.? at some point we're gonna have to lay down some rules and assume people are mature enough to follow them or we're never moving on I think the tests are good at saying you have it but not great at saying you don't. Fair points. My assumption was that the football would be going on before the general lifting of lockdown.

I still think if/once prem checks are completed we would hear something before the transfer of funds, can’t see something like that not being leaked Yeah true.

For all the talk of financial issues I’ve not read of any clubs actually being close to pressing the administration button.

Me too. I’m completely fed up with it. And now another weekend where no news is guaranteed.

From the telegraph article “It is believed it may now take a few more days for the investigations to be finalised”. Why is anyone expecting anything today? We’ll be lucky if we hear some thing next week.

I seem to recall Northern Rock over paying a few years back on the condition the money went on a player. That way they go additional value through their sponsorship. I’m guessing that sort of stuff would not be allowed. Although I guess it could be commercially argued that a company could pay 200 million over the odds with these sort of conditions meaning we went higher in the league benefiting them. I’m just making this up and it is early days, we’re not taken over and we do not know the business plan of the new owners yet.

I’m feeling less and less comfortable with the idea of finishing the premier league season. I think some team will end up getting screwed in the relegation battle. A team that would not necessarily have gone down if the season had played out normally. This could be due to any reason - maybe they have a reduced squad as some players refuse to play or have players stuck abroad, the 5 subs suits some teams more than others, some teams could be breaking lockdown to stay fitter, playing with no fans changes the game, maybe our players/manager feel unmotivated as they think they will be on the way out after the takeover(granted this one could have the opposite effect) etc etc Who ever goes down will feel it was somehow unjust. If you start a season knowing the rules/playing field it’s fair but flipping them mid season is not good. The decisions are being made for financial reasons not for the integrity of the game. I’d like Liverpool to some how be champions but to remove relegation. I don’t have an answer I’m just uncomfortable with the direction we seem to be going.

Let’s say Ashley thought the value of the club had decreased in value more that 17m since the deal was agreed. Due to the situation at the moment. This could be him discouraging another round of negotiations.

Stating the obvious by the Premier league need to pull their finger out. Approve. Take the shit. Declare that there is nothing they can do pithing the rules of the test. Then we move on. This circus is fucking tedious.
