  1. Can we have a how often are you checking for updates poll?šŸ˜‚
  2. Wish they would. But even if they are already happy I'd see them adding a week for appearances.
  3. Christ! Keep him motivated. Let him finish the season. Even if its is a tiny chance the new owners can not change the manager now as if we get relegated they look like morons.
  4. I'm, like I guess a lot people are, absolutely pig fucking sick of this shit. It's been a fucking decade and now we're so close yet so far. Attacked from all angles in the press. Being locked in our houses doesn't help. Please give us some good news soon that the checks are passed.
  5. What would they have asked the government about ? I think any reason not to, knowing the answer will be no. then the premier league can wash their hands and say they went beyond due process, the government deal with Saudi so who are we to block a club doing it.
  6. This fella is speculating that the premier league probably reached out to the government for advice. Which makes sense.
  7. I donā€™t. But I think there will be some stories to calm the nerves on the bein thing. Leaked from the buyer side.
  8. It does feel that way. I think the non refundable deposit helps in a small way with the premier league checks. The premier league will be in zero doubt that if they deny the bid it will go to court. No one, even billionaires, walk away from that money. If they try to block the takeover they need to be 100% that it will stand up in court. Or the premier league themselves will lose money fighting it. We are not in the world of Liverpool and man united old boys ruling every red card appeal decision against Newcastle then having a laugh in the pub. Itā€™s the premier league up against a global multi billionaire corporation that has invested substantially already and will lose more if it fails. The grown ups are at the table.
  9. They knew things like bein would come. Theyā€™ve backed themselves to the tune of 18 million that it wonā€™t be an issue.
  10. This makes me nervous for some reason. Everything makes me nervous I guessšŸ˜£ it just feels like preparing if it does fall through. ā€œIt was not my faultā€.
  11. Trolling warning... don't take me too seriously... But given this all goes through: If you look at the number of sales of teams over the last decade maybe his selling strategy has done us a favour. Pricing out the buyers who wanted to make an immediate profit on us has only left one type of buyer. Hopefully the mega rich type. We could have been purchased by some right chancers if he dropped the price by 50-100 million. It could be that he's done what he promised which was to only sell to a team that can take us forward. Time will tell when the small print of the deal starts leaking.
  12. I took it as a rejection of the articles over the weekend that Ashley can pull out.
  13. Honestly no. I think the leaked ā€œ it is signed and canā€™t be backed out storiesā€ have been done to ease tension.
  14. Tl;dr: Other big brands have questionable ties too. They all do, and we buy them. Thatā€™s my point, try and life your own life as a nice person, with a sone conscience of others, the works etc and to what you can the most to make your own world a better world for you and others the most you can.... End of the day Doug Forcett lived his entire life trying and failed.
  15. 3-0 would be a better analogy. It's happening, it's not just something that has been done on a whim. Iā€™ll meet you half way šŸ˜œ
  16. Heā€™d go a decent job there from where they now are.
  17. It feels like weā€™re in the FA cup final, 1-0 up, going into injury time but the fourth official has held up a sign with 1 month on it.
  18. They are I get why the above happened. But for people looking for movement on the takeover reading pages of me talking moral shite is tedious.
  19. Iā€™m going to back away as this feels more like a conversation over a pint than in a forum. Iā€™m arguing one side as Iā€™m frustrated with the Newcastle bias. This is making people jump to quite large conclusion on where my moral compass lies. I donā€™t have energy to write long posts justifying everything.
  20. Continued from wrong thread... Mate please stop. I mean that in the politest way. We will be the plaything of a billionaire owner and no more. You can't seriously believe that pissed up Geordies slurring the Blaydon races will convince the Saudis to suddenly see the light. Not entirely no. But letā€™s say over a couple decades their youth come here. Support the team. See the region. Get influenced even in the slightest. It will have some effect. A woman leading the negotiation small effect. The necessity to stay in line to work with premiership rules etc. There is no single solution for these things. People do not change quickly. Integrating and influencing each other is the only chance IMO.
  21. Stop being so relentlessly thick for the love of god. Citizen = a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized. Being a citizen of a country is different to running it. Seems you missed my point. Note how I did that without in insulting you? This place is going down hill fast. You said you could come up with a decent argument then didn't. People are so desperate for Ashley to go they are prepared to overlook the fact that we will be owned by people responsible for a hell of a lot of deaths. Ashley was a greedy capitalist fuck who is responsible for terrible working practices in his businesses. Replacing him with people who are morally worse because they might make us competitive is not cause for celebration. They were stupid arguments deliberately. Ok so how about Ashley ignoring social distancing rules at sports direct warehouses (proven with photographic evidence) which put us all at risk, especially all of our elder relatives? Why did he do this? For profit. He's a cunt who is morally reprehensible. They new lot are worse. I don't understand how you are struggling with this. They are a country with some views we had in the 60ā€™s. how do you influence and change that. How do you make it better? How do you make the world believe in equal opportunities for women, race, sexualities? I donā€™t believe isolation works.
  22. Also rather than seeing this as sports washing could it not be seen as an opportunity for us to positively influence their region? Look at the make up of the consortium. A women heading it. Even if this is just propaganda it will influence the region.
