  4. Curiously, we've now equalled Sunderland's total point score from the 2005-06 season. After 7 games
  5. As long as our football club is under M J A Holdings or whatever the f*** its called, we have every right to look at what he does with 'his' money. No we don't. Don't be ridiculous. For starters, him losing a few grand at the casino isn't going to affect the long-term future of our club, and secondly, do other people have the right to tell you what to spend your money on? No they don't, and it's no different for Ashley regardless of what he owns. And what about when it's a loss of £1.2 million in the space of two hours, a week before one of our most promising players for years is sold? Are... are you suggesting, um, genuinely thinking... for real, that Ashley sold AC to cover personal gambling losses?
  6. Just on the subject of progress, on the left we have the squad of 2006-07, on the right, the squad of 2011-12. How many players would you want to never, ever see pull on a black and white shirt again, and how many make you tingle like you're 12 again when you think about them? It's only my opinion, but I'd mark that down as progress. Mike Ashley has made unarguably dire mistakes (I'm not saying I'd like Lambias to die in a fire, but, no, scratch that, I would like Lambias to die in a fire), but he has got better (which is to be expected from a shrewd man with 4 years of club ownership experience), and, the fact of the matter is, we're stuck with him. If you want rid, you need us to do well - both on and off the pitch (wages/turnover for example) - enough that some multi-billion sheik or conglomerate buys us; either that, or you need us to be so dreadful that Mike washes his hands of us entirely and writes us off as a bad loss with us languishing in the third tier. Surely you're not so small minded you'd prefer the latter? This season has started well, I'm enjoying the best start we've had in years, with a sparkling, motivated, vibrant squad, which still has Santon, Marveaux and Ben Arfa to (hopefully) draw on and, so far, ramming the relegation prophesying naysayer's words down their throats. Of course I'd like Falcao up front , and I do harbour some doubts about our ability to grow and build a side over the next 2 to 3 years (and let's wait and see what happens in the next two windows before we start really worrying about that little chestnut), but for now the most pride since SBR was here will do me.
  7. Calm, cool, collected, dead to me.
  8. Anybody spot this yet? @OptaJoe Opta Sports 0% - Newcastle's PL win percentage without Joey Barton in the team during 2010-11, compared to 34% when he played. Available. 28 minutes ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply https://twitter.com/#!/optajoe/status/98042555396128768
  9. Is there anything similar run at any other clubs, where you have to be a (paid) member to be eligible to buy away tickets?
  10. Smiles, but tired. I didn't want to intrude too much, shook his hand, told him well done for the match, and said how much I enjoyed watching him play. He didn't say much back apart from a "thank you", then went back to his mrs. I don't think you can read too much into it...
  11. Just met him in Mcdonald's on grainger street with his stunning girlfriend. Lovely fella, strong handshake grip! Going tonmiss him if (when?) he's gone.
  12. For any who missed the shithouse mail article about fighting, it's here too: http://uk.klikfc.com/article/325215:/newcastles-cheik-tiote-and-shefki-kuqi-in-training-ground-scuffle
  13. Just here at sjp and the ref has looked dogshite from the gallowgate corner. No replays at the match though! Has he been that bad?
  14. I think that's probably it; the kernel of truth, delivered by a cunt
  15. I dunno, it's just the cargo cult/bleak shore that got my goat. Feels like we're being assaulted from all sides at the moment
  16. I really don't know quite what to make of this crass and frankly offensive piece from the markedly southern Independent: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/james-lawton-sacking-hughton-was-crass-but-it-was-sadly-typical-of-newcastle-2155749.html

  18. Motherfucking YES. £10 bet on the away win vindicated. Off to spend the £100 before the pub shuts
