" To be fair I've not seen any of this love in for Giggs as I hate the bloke for the reasons mentioned by others but surely the people praising him, are doing it because he's an excellent footballer and not praising what he's done off the field?

I think the original point someone was making was that Barton is the last person to be going on about someone else being a "wrong un" Anyway, I find it funny that for so long there was that whole "super injunction" and now you have people like Barton just outright accusing giggs of things like making her abort a baby

Very strange game. Had the feeling of a midweek cup game the way the crowd seemed so dead for much of the game. One of those games where the players don't care how they win they just want to win. First half was so passive from both teams really. Second half was better and West Brom scoring was almost for the better really as it woke us up a bit and we re-focused. Cracking hit from Sissoko. Had to explain to a mate that the goal had more meaning because we've been waiting for him to spank one into the top corner since the day he signed

Very good and I said earlier feels like we haven't had a problem scoring goals all season, it was just the shambolic defending that was costing us in the early games. Still though, can't help being frustrated that we can never go and get that 3rd goal in games and avoid these nerve racking final 10mins in games because we are only 1 goal ahead.

They said exactly the same the season we came 5th. Obviously there are elements of luck to any good run but you can't put a whole good season down to luck

Not quite as good as he has been in other games recently. Give him the armband back seems to really focus his game.

Have to say I'm glad we went back to basics with defending. We were scoring goals at the start of the season too but defending like amateurs. Now the fullback don't bomb on everytime like idiots and the midfield protects them.

Have to disagree. Very good in the championship. Good in his first 2 years in the prem. Tragically bad last season to the point where his manager simply referred to him as "the other guy" . Now he's sort of back to how he was in the 5th placed season.

Just don't play a suicidal high line like we have every single home game against these lot ever since Pardew took over. So dumb as a high line plays perfectly into their hands with a back two of Willo and Colo.

Think which ever back four he picks today will probably end up in him getting criticised. If he benches MYM then we'll say we missed his pace and he didn't deserve to lose his spot. If he benches Colo then something like we missed his experience, he's the captain etc. I'm edging towards the idea we will miss Mapou slightly more.

In a weird way, I'd be less concerned being 1 or 2 ahead against a better side going into half time because we tend not to take them for granted so easily. Our players or manager, whoever you want to blame, have a tendency to take the foot of the gas whenever we seem to be bossing a game. They seem to get a bit arrogant and think they can coast home and save energy against the likes of Hull and Norwich.
