Watched the full 90mins last night of the villa 6:0 at the start of the season and smith actually had a good game! Buzzed around nicked the ball back a lot without fouling. When he got it played neat quick passes and kept us ticking over. He also nearly scored when he busted a gut to get in the box but was tripped up. It's about the only game i remember him having a decent game last season but i think we signed Tiote shortly after so he probably just gave up trying. That or it was a fluky game. Don't get me wrong, I'm saying he had a good game but I mean a good game for him, compared with say Tiote it would probably be the equivalent of a distinctly average Tiote game.

From what i saw of him at a west ham. and once or twice at hoffenheim (but that was maybe 2 seasons ago) I like the way he seems to win flick ons but then instead of casually just admiring them like Shola he chases after them and gets involved with the rest of the build up. Also seems to have abit more pace about him compared to best and shola. So aslong as we sign a Pacy nippy striker aswell i think he would work well as Alternate option cause he's tall and fairly good in the air.

I still don't get why people think even if we were willing to sell that Nolan would drop down a league? He bossed the championship and got 12 goals last year in the prem. So even if we didnt want him they're are plenty of premiership teams that would probably still like him.

God i really want Zog back. Something about seeing him play for france last night gave me abit of pride like he's still our's and he's made the step up. Time to come home Charles

We've got to convince them to come here first. Perhaps Sunderland are more realistic about what they can attract. I'd like to think our backups if we fail with those bids are still better than that lot though, don't rate any of them. Thought Brown was decent at RB about 3 years ago and Gibson occasionally hits a belter but still don't think they would do well if we signed them.

I really don't think Nolan would drop down even if we accepted a bid. He proved this year he can get goals in the premier league.

with £20m we bid for gameiro, gervinho/n'zogbia and they go for gibson brown and o'shea. But ofcourse they are NE Top Dogs!

N'Zogbia has played on the right most of this season. Even if he was to play on the left, selling Jonas would be foolish. I can't see it personally. Oh yeah i would much rather keep Jonas in the team. I just think it is more likely Pardew would drop him initially, rather than Big Kev. I think we really need to sort out a deal now or we may have real competition. If villa sell young which they will and for a sumit like £25m+ then they will have plenty of cash and N'zogbia is the perfect fit for them just like Young he has pace, can beat a man and can take a quality free-kick. Plus with Martinez maybe going there of course he will want Charlie.

on paper yeah that looks sweet but i think in reality jonas may be benched or sold if we did get n'zogbia and ben arfa comes back strong, because i think nolan will be in the starting eleven. How long that lasts when it finally becomes obvious to pardew he is the odd one out remains a mystery

For me, Ronaldo is the greatest in my life time so far. Messi is awesome but their was just something more about Ronaldo. I would have loved to have seen the pre-injures Ronaldo in the prem or even just today to see how he would do because there has never been a more direct and lethal striker. Watching him just pick it up go on a run, little step over, Boom weaker left foot, drills it in the bottom corner. Unstoppable. I tend to just believe this "thyroid" story about his weight. just makes it easier to carry on worshipping him
