Because Ben Arfa's major talents other than his dribbling, are his passing and vision. He'd get a lot of benefit from someone with intelligence and good movement ahead of him. Carroll has neither. With that midfield, you need a man that bases his game on intelligence over physicality. Exactly why I don't think I'd take him back. Not just because of Ben Arfa specifically but more for the midfield that we're trying to build in general. If we get this type of football that we seem to be heading towards then he would not fit in here in exactly the same way that he's not fitting in at Liverpool.

Feel the same way to be honest. Obviously I'd love to have a settled left back in place but the team spirit/the fact that we're winning/etc have made his departure that much easier to take. Was really one of my favorite Toon players though.

I actually enjoy the radio to be honest. Obviously I'd love a good TV feed but there's something nostalgic and antiquated (in a good way) about a radio feed. It's a lost art-form, calling a game on the radio.

Pards doesn't really play that weakened of teams in cups, he takes them very seriously. I think maybe 3-5 fringe players to come into the starting 11 with maybe 3 on the bench with mostly first-teamers.

We probably played our best football of the season and played the ball along the ground for most of the time. We did go route one a couple of times and so we should, just not all of the time. Cabaye could have had 3 and we didn't have a poor player, unlike against QPR when most were poor. Think about how bad we were against QPR, we were as good against Villa as we were bad against them. No idea if they were poor or if we just made them look that way, I guess we were just that good and they couldn't get the better of our midfield. It's easy to say they were shite but we deserve credit for that, if they were. There were long periods of time where the ball would not leave their half. Was entertaining to watch.

Yes. There were long spells of the match where only the NUFC away support were creating any sort of atmosphere. Must be great for the lads to be on an away piece of grass and feel like they are getting home support.
