That’s the thing. A Bruno injury (and by all accounts he’s nursing an ankle knock) means draws or worse instead of wins. Until Liverpool drop points I’ll worry.

31m is a bargain for a player of his quality and pedigree tbf. We’re likely looking at younger players so I doubt it’s true but man… a midfield of Bruno, Brozovic and one of the Joe’s would be so, so good.

It’s only a matter of time before they’re good again. Money, big club reputation and being in London means you can only fail for so long until you accidentally stumble into a formula that works. The annoying thing is, even after this absolute shambles of a season, players will see Chelsea as a more attractive proposition than us in the summer.

I think for me it’d be: Tierney-30 Caicedo- 60 Maddison- 40 Pedro- 30 making up the 10m difference in player sales if possible. I think I’d rather go for 3 “world class” players/ elite prospects for 60+ (on the assumption that they’re truly worth that). Loads of teams looking to overtake us are able to spend 40 odd million so going beyond that should hopefully be able to get the kind of talent that draws a line between ourselves and them.
