lived in saudi arabia for a while (not there anymore) and, yeah tmonkey's spot on.. besides its not that extreme; they absolutely gorge themselves at 4am (before sunrise) so that they can comfortably go through the day- the harder part is to keep pure a few friends fall in to the trap of swearing. Then at sundown.. a real feast> actually its a pretty amazing experience, i've tried fasting many a time and the food just tastes better. its a shame to see some people on this thread slating a religion, that clearly already gets enough stick. not a muslim btw

Who the hell eats their breakfast, dinner and tea at work in a single day? I scoff a bowl of porridge at home at about 6am each day. I have a salad at about midday at work and have my tea at home in the evening. Nobody at work sees me eat 3 times. bunch of wankers doing it on purpose "oi that guys fasting, lets eat all day in front of him"

they can't do a lot of things during the fast: swearing and lying included. At fatoor (when the sun falls and evening prayers begin) they can break their fast.

Very respectful . yeah Rodrigo is the epitome of tolerance

anybody else impressed by fulham? didn't see the match but they always produce cracking games, and at 3-3 it sounds like a good'un. Shame it wasn't on for me

Not to sound defensive... but in what way is it a stupid question? (albeit not as interesting as HTL's ) owen has done nothing to deserve a place yet he is constantly making the teamm whereas the backbone (goal-wise) of last seasons team is left out. he's a class player and in a team that look like they're running in a thick goop of snot ( tried to forge a link there) his blistering pace should make him a regular first-teamer Owen is a far superior team player than Martins, who is a bit of a loose cannon and one-man band. I like Martins, but he needs to improve his general team play imo. I'm hopeful if he is patient and doesn't spit his dummy out that he will learn from Owen and become a much better player than he is now. How then does he learn when he's not playing alongside owen, or getting limited game time? He's a great prospect- yes he has to learn- and a great player, it just pains me to see his confidence wane away when he doesn't start.... He learns by general day to day work. I don't believe Owen and Martins can form an effective partnership, so he can't learn from Owen on match day. After saying that, I'd partner Owen with Martins ahead of partnering Owen with Ameobi. That's one of the reasons I mentioned the other day about FS not being able to see the wood for the trees. He automatically went for the "big man," "short arse" irrespective of the fact that Ameobi should be on the beach. He should have started with Owen and Smith up front, there's no doubt about that at all imo, but if FS wants to continue with the stupidity of using Smith in midfield, then he should have started with Owen and Martins. In fact, I'd sooner Given had started and FS had gone with Owen and Harper up front, than Ameobi. And I'm not joking. Yes a good sunbathe would solve all his problems.. i for one would love to see them both (martins and owen) play together on a regular basis..

How? should've added a wink then?

This. Plus muslims can make up for not fasting in ramadan by fasting at another time, and by being especially charitable during the month.

Basic economics really. you see the demand for football in england is very very high and the supply of class footballers in the labour market is very low. Draw a simple demand and supply chart to reinforce the point.

Try being a fan in the States. Wait, don't. You'd lose your s***. i feel sorry for you.. when i visited a family friend (a brit) who lives in queens, i hated those pricks who interrupted (his yankydoodle friends) saying "its called soccer", real football is more of a man's game um.. no it f****** isn't, we invented the sport so we can call it what we want- do we call basketball spamalamdingdong. and yeah american football is a man's game ffs, those guys are more padded up then their illiterate soldiers. needless to say things got violent Ah that would prrrrrroper grind my gears that like. I would have brought up the whole 'world series' thing with baseball to see how they'd justify naming it that. American football might be tougher than football, but its hardly tougher than rugby. i remeber saying stuff like "just because you americans are too impatient and stupid to sit through a 90 minute game without seeing a 50-55 scoreline, doesnt make it boring.. u fat shit" and it pissed me right off when they called it a "pansy sport" and that it takes less skill to "hoof a ball down the field" than to "pick out a runningback with a pin-point throw"... i fucking exploded (btw i'm not joking when i said it got violent, we actually came to blows until friends split us up.. now that passion )

Say Cheese! (or in Carr's case, lay off the cheese)

the sad thing is... its almost true

down to poor tactics by rafa again.. the man doesn't understand that the PL has to take priority, not putting your best players on at the beginning of the game is madness

We created 20 shots with 10 on target vs Wigan. Should we be creating more? We have scored 6 goals in 5 games, yes not the greatest haul but not the worst either. Barton and Emre are the 2 "creative" players in our team, not quite Gerrard and Alonso but they will do more work in the final 3rd than Butt or Geremi would. Thought that was pretty obvious. let's face it no matter how many stats you try to throw about, we havn't exactly been a creative force so far. What Baggio and others are saying is that teams like ManCity for example have been playing good football. Check with Doc Spectrum if you like he is delighted. Have Man City been missing their 2 central midfielders who could be classed as creative or attacking? the roeder excuse " i swear will break the top 6 if all our players are fit"
-
they've played man utd and arsenal they've also played some convincing football.. hate them though (just wanted to add that)
-
Phil K and baggio have every right to be frustrated, we've had an easy run of games and failed miserably to gain the amount of points we should have. people saying we're a middle table outfit and it'll take time yadayada.. bollocks look at man city... "lets not get our hopes up too high for fear of being let down boohoo"- whats happening to newcastle fans. wheres the ambition, the delusions of grandeur ffs how about a "we're gannin win the league like!"
-
yeah if he keeps getting shunned like this there's no doubt he'd want away in the jan tranfer window... if you're not playing you might as well not play for a more successful team.

would be a big blow if we lost against west ham on home soil.. mainly cos i hate the bastards but like i said before, i had a dream tht we lost 3-2 just a silly dream but it'd be freaky if it were to come true.. *rubs crystal ball, smirking*
