  1. You can't be the chairman- you started it.
  2. bitter, bitter, bitter I think people were saying the same thing last year tbh, the UEFA cup only gets interesting around the quarter finals mark once all the teams who, let's be honest, are just making up the numbers have been knocked out. I mean when you think about it, for our team to have progressed so far under Roeder and Souness, can it really be seen as a prestigeous competition? 'Boro in the Final? It's quite sad that the thing that has been keeping our hopes up for the last few years has been beating the likes of Zulte-Waregem, Levadia Tallinn, FK Ventspils et al, only for us to trip up when we finally meet a decent team (bit harsh mind, we beat some decent teams last season). Not inspiring, would love to win it but as far as priorities go I would prefer the carling cup as I believe it's harder to win. There is only one european competition as far as I'm concerned and it's not the UEFA cup. Any player who would go to a team because they qualified for that competition is probably a crack addict. Its a measure of success- a team which is in europe is atm more successful than a team out of europe. Players and crack-addicts alike choose to play for more successful teams.
  3. Duff and Shola have both been much better players for NUFC. And I say that in full knowledge of how s*** they've been. I agree with you there Alex but how many chances has Ameobi had compared to Luque? You're right. I think Luque came here, was unlucky with injury under Souness and was totally discarded under Roeder and did deserve a chance after Palermo away, when although he was nothing special he scored the winner - doing a striker's job. And after Roeder had put pressure on him (unfairly) before the match. Under Allardyce he's looked ok pre-season. Better than he's looked before here I'd say. I think his attitude has been questionable at times though too. He's definitely looked disinterested mostly when he has had a chance (some would say you can't blame him). I'm not sure he really deserves to have had a run in the current team. Personally, I think he isn't suited to English football. Fans highly rating luque and saying that he hasn't had a chance, its all guilt-speak tbh. they just don't want to believe that we took on a 'class' player with a potentially glittering career ahead of him and basically f*cked him up (souness and roder); he has shown no signs that he is even remotely close to the player he was at deportivo, and its sad really.. but we cant keep him on our hands because we feel sorry for him. I wish he did become the player you lot are touting him to be, but he won't.. better he leaves and has the chance to pick himself up and start anew
  4. At his age his market value is aroung £5-£6m. Viduka's a good player, if he was still on contract boro wouldn't let him leave for anything under 8mil. (especially to us) Took into account inflation aswell
  5. i understand people's frustration, that our spending has paled in comparison some of the other billionaire owners, but if we paid the current market price for the players we got on free (i'd estimate 9 mil for viduka, 6 mil for geremi and 3.5 mil for cacapa) would people be happy then?
  6. i'd put a hundred pounds on him going first.... if i wasn't such a coward
  7. yes, the intimidation factor will be key... nothing like 3 screaming fans willing the home side on Or they'll all come dressed as red seats and stand in silence again. love it when they do that.. sometimes i almost think the stadium is empty..
  8. yes, the intimidation factor will be key... nothing like 3 screaming fans willing the home side on
  9. i assure you, i wasn't implying suicide at all.. yes sh*t does happen, but i'm still going into this match with arrogance
  10. Why do people keep saying this? He was a first team regular for Allardyce's excellent Bolton last season, and a rock in their side. He'd be a bloody good 'squad member', if not a regular. They only finished 6th man! We surely need to be challenging for the league or Allardyce and the board have failed! This season is wasted. We could be in for a relegation battle. it's all over, i'll let the FA know that we don't even want to compete this year. relegate us now Always one who has to go that step too far stems from my abuse as a child.. often had to overexagerate to compensate for such a decrepid life... thanks for bringing that up
  11. Don't worry, you get wrong for being pessimistic here, you get wrong for being optimistic here. If you don't take the middle ground your a lune & your opinion counts as s***, you'll get used to it. i'll certainly try don't no what the uproar is tbh.. don't have to be liverpool to beat boro
  12. nothing wrong with a bit of optimism.. jesus can't be pesismistic, cant be optimistic.. looks like we're going to have start adopting realism..
  13. come on alex.. have a go at him now. btw i totally agree The sentiment, like yours, is correct. But to say anything less than a win is abysmal or a 'total shambles', can only come from someone thinking we're something we're not. Only the top four (if that, tbh) have the divine right of saying that. You can't go away to anyone in the Premiership and claim anything but a win is a 'shambles'. 1. Are we a better team? <yes move to question 3> <no move to 2> 2. why not? 3. Are middlesbrough a weakened side? <yes- than yeah we should win> <no move to 4> 4. Are you mad? Yes you can say that, is it wrong to expect a win against a side we should be beating? Expect a win, yes. I'm expecting a win. But to say it's a shambles if we don't is plain daft. Am i really actually wrong here? That was fun btw, thanks. just thought the point would come across stonger if it was interactive technically you're not wrong, but still, speaking for myself i'd be gutted if we didn't pick up all 3 points. its a game we need to win if we want to climb up the table.. we can't justle settle for draws against teams that we should beat I'd be disappointed with a draw. I wouldn't be 'settling' for that. I just wouldn't regard it as a 'shambles' if we only picked up a point. dissappointment, shambles.. same thing really..
  14. if you're gonna wish.. then wish we'll buy him

  18. tbf he did do this when he got rozehnal.. since mort wasn't even in the picture yet.
  19. This is like the rozehnal deal.. this is how sam plays it, bargain-hunter that he is. Sam's playing the bluff, sizing them up..
  20. your comment is very much appreciated
