Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed
JoeyBartoon replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
The recruitment team are a complete mess 😂 -
I’ve come to terms with the likelihood that he’ll leave — that’s no longer my main concern. What matters now is how the club manages the situation. It’s absolutely crucial they control the narrative and handle the sale entirely on their terms, with the club’s long-term interests at the forefront. I’ll be genuinely furious if they cave to any low-ball offer from Liverpool. This deal has to reflect the player’s true value. Even more importantly, reinforcements must be secured before any sale is sanctioned. Ideally, this transfer should go through at the very end of deadline day — not a moment sooner.

Once Eddie approves a target, it’s up to Nickson’s and his team to assess the player’s value and guide the club on what to bid. But based on recent activity, it’s clear they’re not doing a good enough job. Despite having access to extensive data and scouting resources, their valuations often seem off, leading us to missing out on realistic targets (Trafford). It’s their job to help the club act decisively and smartly in the market, the current results suggest they’re falling short.

They’ve got some nerve Liverpool fans. In 2013, they refused to sell Suarez, kept him for another season, which he excelled, before selling him to Barcelona.
-
The club needs to bring in players before selling Isak. I agree there’s no way back for him right now, but I’d probably wait until the final day of the transfer window to let him go
-
We’re not the make a wish foundation ffs
-
You’ve just spent £80 million on a player based on potential. Any deal for Isak, a proven elite forward with three years left on his contract, will naturally reflect that context. At around £150 million, you’re paying for one of the best strikers in world football — not just talent, but consistency, and Premier League-proven impact. If you’re willing to invest big in potential, you’ll be expected to pay a premium for proven quality.

I don’t think it’s bizarre at all — Pope’s distribution when he’s off his line just isn’t up to the level you’d expect at the top of the Premier League. He often looks uncomfortable under pressure, and his footwork is noticeably slow when trying to sort himself out. You can see it in warm-ups too — he tends to stick to safe, sweeping passes out to the full-backs and rarely attempts anything more progressive. I’ve yet to see him whip a pass into midfield or switch play with real intent. He doesn’t have the technical range or confidence on the ball that keepers like Raya, Ederson, or Alisson bring. And in the modern game, especially with Newcastle trying to evolve tactically, that becomes a real limitation.
-
Pope is guff off his line, if Howe wants to play this way this season then they’re just gonna have to up the bid .
-
Surely this the remit of Nickson and Andy Howe? I remember reading something about Nickson building relationships with Gordon’s agent about 6 months before the transfer.
-
Yeah seen that. Either way, it’s a massive summer for Nickson and Andy Howe, we can’t have another disaster like last summer.
-
Honestly no idea why the club don’t just pay the reported 40m Burnley want for Trafford. Everton paid the Mackems 30m for Pickford 8 years ago. We look like we’ve been dragging our heels over a few million for a future England number 1. Hopefully the City interest means we just meet their valuation and put an end to it all

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

The club is clearly protecting itself ahead of a potential Isak sale next summer. I’d imagine we could get around £150 million for him, but without a proper replacement signed up, we’d risk being hit with inflated prices in the market. -
Tbh I don’t think 2 or 3 players signed will be enough, I was hoping for at least 3 1st team players and a couple for the bench. We still need to replace the players we’ve sold
-
Targeting only English or current Premier League players leads to inflated prices we can’t compete with. We should be looking abroad, where quality talent is available for far better value. Should have learnt that lesson with the Guehi nonsense last year
-
I’m not too fussed about Elanga, I honestly don’t think he’s got the quality to help move this team further forward
-
I think Tyler Dibling will be the one Howe wants to bring in
-
Great player for the club but shouldn’t really be anywhere near a prem squad now, let alone starting. Looks more suited for the ballers league
-
The player id sell if PSR was still an issue. Hasn’t kicked on this season imo, still quick and can look dangerous, but final ball and decision making is awful at times

Isak would have about 40 goals if he any players 5-10 yards from him. -
Massive pressure on Villa now if we beat Ipswich.
