There'd be less hate for Pardew if he wasn't the manager, too. Think the reaction to this is a bit over the top. He was wasting away at Spurs and yes, we gave him a chance, but he's 27 and wants to play Premier League football. If you remove Rafa from the equation everyone would think "who can blame him?" Sure, we all think we'll get promoted and if we do with Rafa we'll be more attractive than many clubs, but given our history Rafa could easily walk by November and then he's lost at least one season. Add in the fact he's from London and this was probably pretty easy for him. Plus, I think he's a solid player but nowhere near as good as some make out. Would have destroyed the Championship mind you.

I like Townsend but think he's being massively overrated on here now.
