I don't think there's any way we'll spend that much. Our wages + amortisation costs are already £255m (using Swiss Ramble's rough 90% estimate for how much players/staff contribute to the wage number). These are all very rough numbers and UEFA uses calendar years instead to make this exceptionally complicated, but that amount on £320m in revenue gets us just below the 80% mark that UEFA will apply for 2024/25. I've posted before about optimism for the next few transfer windows based on the current PL PSR regulations, but UEFA's cost control metric and similar coming to the PL is definitely more difficult for us. That said, there are a number of angles here. The PL % may be higher and may also get phased in over a couple years. Plus, the UEFA penalty for a first time offense under 10% is 10-25% of the overage so we could push things to 89% (£285m on £320m revenue) and then pay a penalty of at most £7.5m. Increasing revenue really is the key and we have work to do just to get back to ~£320m in 2024/25. Ashworth could help and a training ground/shirt sponsor this summer would be huge. Looking at this again recently I can see why there will definitely be player sales.

Definitely possible. I do find it hard to believe that a club is just going to accept a relegation if a points deduction is the difference. But there's also so little time between seasons that I don't know how anything gets done about it.

He got injured four times this season. 3 games in a week (hamstring) - Fair to be annoyed by this; he is fragile 6 games / 368 minutes in 2.5 weeks (hamstring) - Not reasonable 6 games / 453 minutes in 2.5 weeks (calf) - Even less reasonable Torn pec wrestling - freak injury IMO the responsibility for two of his four injuries this season are on the club. A player with his fitness record, who may not have even been 100% fit at the time, can't be asked to do what he did on two separation occasions.

My preference unless we find a reasonably priced, young alternative to serve as a backup striker is: - Keep Isak - Keep Wilson - Sign an elite RW who can also play up front like Gordon - Limit Wilson to one game per week max. If Isak is hurt and Wilson has played that week then we function as if he's hurt and use either Gordon or the RW. (If we can get a good fee for Wilson then I agree it might be the last chance to sell him, but I don't know what that looks like)

My impression is this is a much more rigorous set of requirements with the onus on the club to prove it's ok as opposed to the PL (or whomever) needing to prove it's not ok.

People are being really harsh on Wilson and also underestimating how difficult / expensive it might be to replace his goals. We ran him into the ground on two separate occasions this season, and now a freak upper body injury is the last straw.

Of course they use Anthony Gordon as the image for the article. That's clearly the most relevant example of a club using inflated sponsorships.

I'm glad we can't spend whatever we want because it would be ridiculous - either luxury retirement home ridiculous (Ronaldo / Messi / Neymar / Benzema) or unfair ridiculous (Mbappe, Bellingham, Osimhen). But it's equally silly that we can't spend anything.
