  1. Long may it last. It's not the fucking superbowl
  2. Frankly, it's inevitable given the tribalism in football that people's views become distorted when discussing clubs, or fans of clubs they either like or dislike for whatever reason, and so, it is hard to paint a true picture from afar without having to swallow some degree of propaganda which generally leans in some form of direction. However, taking the view (as many on Twitter have done) that this is entirely the fault of Liverpool fans is entirely lazy and dangerously ignorant. Football fans, of any club, would likely attempt to 'break in' to any such occasion or stadium if they were playing a Champions League final, and whilst that in itself is unlawful and dangerous it is somewhat understandable. Who wouldn't want to experience the (potential) 'experience of a lifetime' watching their club be crowned the best team on the continent? Despite this, they are also not void of any blame. There will have been a minority doing so and as previously mentioned, they shouldn't be. Especially as they, themselves, have fought for years to clear their name on the Hillsborough incident. At Marseille, as a young teen, I remember how the French police were dressed, how they treated us and how we were housed. One giant warehouse panelled out into 3 screening areas with riot police dressed like robocop pushing people about. Yet somehow, flares managed to make there way from the Marseille end to ignite the paper/foil display at the front and create a fire that burned towards us. The football hooliganism of our past once again acting as the timeless stereotype of how all our fans supposedly act, whilst those in the Marseille end actively endangered everyone. However, once again, minorities spoil it for the majority, and it's no real surprise when you see how some of the England contingency act when they're away that we're still tarnished with such a shit reputation. Perhaps though, just perhaps, a novel solution would be for all of the corporate pigs to fuck off and leave tickets for actual fans these events? Perhaps, policing should be put under more scrutiny as they seem to have an increasing amount of free licence to treat people like animals? Perhaps UEFA need to fund security for these events more appropriately? After Hillsborough, surely all sides should have learned, just as we should learn with wars... But I guess not.
  3. Aye, he needs likeminded people to be voted on the board and whom have a longer temperament than I. Otherwise I can see the same influences being rife.
  4. Certain individuals and their influence within the Trust are a negative influence in my experience and opinion . However, Greg is not one of those.

Sunderland focused on their own shit today and fired themselves back to the Championship. Let's face it, they don't belong in League One. Think they'll stay up next year too tbh. They'll probably hover around the championship for several years.

That thread sums it up. Why don't they just focus on their own lot like? If they go up they'll be saying how we're devestated and how they're back and the biggest club in the North East and how everyone hates us and loves them, yada yada yada. Despite still being a divisiin below us and likely for some years yet. Sad. Mackem. Bastards.

It's funny, given their relegations and subsequent, prolonged activity in the doldrums of the third division, I rarely give these a thought for around two-thirds of the season nowadays. It's only when the season starts drawing to a close and when Newcastle (in recent years) are safe, that they actually matter. There's always a lot of talk in fan bases about how rivals are 'rent-free' in one anothers heads, and ours is no different. I honestly doubt our fans would not have been singing anti-Sunderland songs in the same scenario, given the amount of time they'll be there before the game and the amount of drink consumed. There's only so many songs you can sing. However, on the other hand, I do wonder just how many songs they have that don't feature Newcastle. Singing about Shearer being shite for one is delusional. Also, any notion that Sunderland is somehow a nicer place, and Newcastle is a shithole, is entirely delusional. What has happened in the North East as a whole is wrong, and Sunderland and Middlesbrough have been left behind with little to hold on to as Newcastle has diversified and become the regional capital. Perhaps that was always the case? I think any 'normal' person can see that. Sunderland and Middlesbrough were good working class cities that have been ran into the ground and that is a shame but perhaps that explains the whole chip on the shoulder mentality they have? Therefore, it's only at times like this when I can genuinely say I hate them and that's purely based on the hatred they hold for us. I just find them somewhat laughable, and on days like today I hope as they fill the Wembley air with songs about Newcastle and Newcastle United rather than getting behind their own team, their fairly sizeable club gets smashed by someone like Wycombe, and they're reminded why their small-mindedness belongs in the third tier of English football. For every season they're down there and focusing on us, that's where they'll remain. They need to get their shit together and focus on their 12 fingered inbred selves.

Well, they're saying they're going with the same supplier as the club are as it makes logistical sense. So presumably, the display goes from all to nothing. In which case, this isn't Wembley's fault, you'd think, it's the club for not checking they can firstly use said materials and secondly advising the group to go with them without doing the checks. I suspect it's probably closer to the truth that they've either tried to go cheap and been let down by the supplier, they haven't got enough people to facilitate the display (or whom want to stay sober enough) or tjat they simply haven't had enough time/money to achieve it. I'm curious as to when this crowd funding thing started and as to when they started planning for this, if they were planning a foil display for 20+ thousand that won't come cheap and neither would hiring an organised team to facilitate it. Cannot imagine they have more than 20 or 30 people involved in arranging the displays either. Did they do that last one with the cats eyes and one stand? Like I thought that was decent for a 3rd division side tbf. I'm just not sure their message is/are the only issue(s)...
