We'll smash them.

I don't think he's done owt wrong by being out to be honest. If the story that someone provoked the fight is true, then dickheads can provoke a fight anywhere, any time. Granted, it's more likely to happen there and seemingly then, but young lads go out on the town, that's what young lads do. A tad irresponsible, maybe, but hell who hasn't been...

Aye it'd be great like. Truly believe lesser sides struggle at SJP because they're not used to the intensity and stature of SJP

Yep, I agree. Has been bouncing for both games.

The Corner was jumping yesterday until they scored I'd even say

It says a great deal that we are so disappointed to have been the better side for 60/70minutes vs Liverpool at home and to come off with a narrow defeat. Last year this was unthinkable and the years prior to that it certainly was. That's not to say we shouldn't be disappointed. 11 vs 10 for the majority of the game and in the lead - we shouldn't have thrown it away, but the reality is that Liverpool have a history of winning leagues and cups, they have a team of former champions and a champion mentality. We don't. We have a try hard, live and learn, hopeful attitude where we're grateful for whatever we achieve. The same could be said about the cup final. We are some way from having that, but it will come. Priority has to be a top 4 spot again for us until such a point our squad is capable of competing across multiple platforms and then hopefully we'll pick up a league cup to set the ball rolling. That first cup will (hopefully!) be the catalyst for multiple cup and potentially league wins. Its just a dark cloud that hangs over us at present. I'll be honest, I get a bit too caught up in the atmosphere at times to do a proper analysis, but I thought Gordon was outstanding, Tonali and Joelinton were excellent too but we just seemed to come off the boil for a brief period. That was enough 'blood' for them to smell and latch on to and just through some sloppy defensive errors and quality finishing we lost the game. A bit of rub of the green/improved movement/finishing might well have seen us see the game off comfortably - thinking back to when Wilson ran offside and Miggy hit the post in particular. I think we'd be naive to not accept that Liverpool are a good side though and deserved their win. They kept themselves in the game, boxed both hard and smart and took their chances. I used to like Klopp but his arrogance has usurped his modesty in recent years and now I cannot stand the bastard, but every time he beats us, he has the right to be just that. Liverpool are a siege mentality club, which is where they differ from Man United and where we have a striking similarity in my opinion. We're at our best as a club when we're the underdog, when folk expect nothing of us. I think the two clubs are very similar in that regard. Only in more recent history (if you can call it that!) they've managed to harness that into something more successful and we've been incredibly mismanaged at varying levels since the late 90s. Personally, I don't hate Liverpool, they're probably in some way what I want us to be, (some way!) But I cannot stand that twat Klopp and some of their self-righteousness. Brighton up next and it's important we get something. A draw there would also be massive and we then need to start getting points on the board in the games we'd expect to. Things seem doom and gloom after two losses but in reality we've played the best club on the planet at present and been a bit naive vs a quality side. Live and learn. We have to move forward and have faith in our ability both on and off the pitch and need to ensure we don't get carried away to the point its at our detriment, as has been the case under previous managers...

They held in the game and we allowed them to be equals. Naive both on and off the pitch. For that they deserved their win.

Teams expect to win certain games, it's the same everywhere and in every sport. However, it seems to be used in a way that those 'expecting' are delusional whenever it's someone who doesn't fit the narrative the media want to portray. It's a load of bollocks really. Newcastle fans can fairly realistically expect to beat any of the 15 teams who finished below them last season - why? Because we proved last season to be consistently better than them. Not difficult really, is it? Of course you're not going to win every game vs teams that finished below you last time out, but given our home record too under Howe, it's hardly unreasonable to suggest we may fancy our chances today.

I said before a ball was kicked I'd take 3 from the first 3 like as the minimum we should be aiming for. The fact we got 3 from Villa buoyed me with confidence especially in the manner that we did. I watched Liverpool vs Chelsea and was entirely unimpressed by both sides. To get a draw today would be an improvement on last season in like for like fixtures. However, I just feel beating these really means they've kinda got to beat us at Anfield (same goes for Villa). (In a theoretical world where we win the games expected, of course.) Ideally a win this week and a draw vs Brighton and I'd say we've probably exceeded what you'd expect from the opening 4 and with some less difficult games after you'd fancy us to gather some early momentum.

Fantastic. The fact they're making such comments suggests they're uncomfortable with our presence.

Right behind them today, and right behind everyone of our players as individuals. Give Liverpool hell. Let them know we aren't going away.

As in they're concerned to play us?

Great interview from Eddie Howe. Standard stuff but just refusing to get involved in trivial bullshit, focusing on how we can be the best version of ourselves and ultimately showing some class where other managers don't.
-
Big game tomorrow - even bigger after today. Arsenal, Brighton and arguably Man United have all dropped points unexpectedly and if we win we'd have taken 6 points from two of our other champions league rivals. It's obviously early doors but go into the games where we're expected to take maximum points after already taking points off all our competitors and we can be super confident. Losing tomorrow would be a massive boost for Liverpool too in my opinion. Cannot see Chelsea picking up the pace enough until they're already too far behind but Spurs are looking steady at present. Fancy it to be wide open this year though until around the 35/36 game mark

His son designed it, which makes it even better ?

@wor jackie (Apologies G... ) Graeme will hate me for this but I am going to say it anyways... Graeme is the beating heart of Wor Flags. I was proud as punch seeing clips of the lads and lasses last neet. As a group, we receive a lot of positive feedback and it is very much appreciated. I hope you all don't mind but I often send screenshots of the positive feedback and ideas from here because I truly believe it helps fuel the group as much as the donations and wins do. Graeme and I have been in Gallowgate Flags and Wor Flags from the start. Graeme recruited me as fellow gobshites in the corner from the Ashley days. I think I maybe stood out to him when we played Liverpool some years ago and refused to stop singing at 3/4/5 nil down and when I wouldn't back down to 3 or 4 lads offering me on for doing so. It transpired that Graeme used to go on all the same buses etc. as my Dad and others, and like my 'match crowd', his is made up of generations of following Newcastle as the baton gets passed from old to new in that (hopefully) everlasting cycle. We attended meetings etc. In Gallowgate Flags' inception and as things developed, stuttered and ground almost to a halt our friendship developed as our values aligned and came to the fore and as such Wor Flags was born out of likeminded individuals who wanted to reshape the future or the group. That 'reshape' has led us to where we are today. The ambition, passion and dedication of the group is epitomised by Graeme (and a few of the other, older lads). Graeme works incredibly long hours and then still comes in to do the flags and often breaks up his work by ordering items and providing feedback to folk in the group etc. Throughout each working day. He's not alone, there are a multitude of others, varying from other 'more mature' folk such as Chris and Don to parents like Laura and young lads giving up a Friday night session like Ben, Ryan, Joseph, etc. I guess it's almost like a little cult these days The group really has become tight knit though and in the face of adversities that a lot of folk don't see, always rallies to do what it needs to. The largest examples being 'that' Keegan display and also the stance it took vs Ashley both as a collective and as individuals. There is also a belief that we (Wor Flags) support Newcastle United and as such there is often push back from us when requests come in to perhaps showcase ourselves (as we support Newcastle not Wor Flags). Obviously this wasn't one of those instances and people will believe what they want to believe, but our purpose for doing any of the (social) media kinda stuff is to increase interaction and ultimately donations rather than notoriety and to also help fellow lads and lasses do what they love to do, creating content and joy for the masses. Again, Graeme is the perfect example of this. He'll be super embarrassed by this post and by the Amazon documentary, but his humility and that of his family, are possibly the most important factors of Wor Flags, and as much as this post is perhaps the opposite of the ideology we have, just as our flags display a pride in our city, this post is my tiny display of love for an absolutely great man, a great family and an a fantastic, fantastic group ??
