  1. Yeah, that's me too. Plus I have obligatory support of England and Australia. I kinda think the US should back England this time round. We now have a legit royal hook-up, plus our team is full of mediocre cloggers too. Might have gone that route if Lascelles and/or Shelvey had made the squad, but alas...
  2. Planning to watch some of the World Cup with a friend whose family is from Belgium, so I guess them?
  3. How come ? She's been involved in the sale of one club and never ran one, Ashley has owned one for years She has to have some in depth knowledge re football industry to act as a middleman in the Man City takeover. And the fact that Rafa is her mate adds further credibility. Ashley problem is he didn't have the knowledge beforehand, and he refused to adapt to this industry. He was trying to do his own way by running the club like his SD and failed. And, what's even worse, is the people he wrongly trusted are pure shits. On the other hand, as long as Amanda listens to Rafa, we simply can't fail. Really no downside from my perspective even if Amanda is purely buying for future profits. This is really the one thing that makes me confident that PCP would be better than Ashley. Admittedly, there couldn't be a lower hurdle to clear. But Staveley already being acquainted with Rafa and his public comment about having a second set of January transfer targets would suggest that she's willing to trust his judgment when it comes to the squad and that her group is prepared to spend accordingly.
  4. All of this. It's weird to wave the flag nowadays with all that's become attached to it. To even need something out of final day of qualifying with all of the resources in the US, with a player as talented as Pulisic in the fold, against the general level of competition in CONCACAF is pretty embarrassing. Definitely feel bad for Yedlin, though.

  7. Somehow we're going to end up with Pardew, aren't we? All the talk about the NFL, etc. I'm happy Klinsmann's gone, but a little scared about what happens next.
  8. You know the Sounders or someone are going to steal it and make it absolutely intolerable.
  9. Well, that was unexpected! http://i.imgur.com/dUcpDQl.gif
  10. we don't win anymore, he's going to make Newcastle great again. Going to do the best deals, we're going to be huge. That deal for Shelvey? Worst deal in history. We're going to get the right people in to do the best deals. Sounds like we're going to bring Messi in and make Barca pay for it.
  11. Playing the long game so that he can eventually start blaming science for his losses again.
  12. And mentioning a couple different times about the first objective being a win on Monday. None of this Pardew "maybe we can scrape one against Morecambe" nonsense.
  13. Probably took one look at the goal Elliot allowed against Stoke and nope octopus-ed away in horror.
  14. From the Sun article: And somehow he could be interested. Worst "pals" ever.
  15. I think I found Pardew's account on that Palace forum:

Watching the Union is basically exactly like watching NUFC: getting ripped to shreds at the back and can't keep the ball. Fun weekend.
  17. Bring back Shola to score in the Camp Nou to go with Doumbia and we're sorted.
  18. Revenue sharing maybe, although Mike Ashley doesn't even want to share revenue with f***ing NUFC. They'll never implement a cap, imo. Agreed, nor should they. It'd be the quickest way to not be the most high profile league in the world anymore. Some would argue revenue sharing already exists since the TV contract is paid out evenly (with rewards for performance) unlike La Liga. The additional CL money is becoming less important, although the allure of the competition itself is a major recruiting tool. Face it, you're trying to mess with something that is pretty fucking great. You're just sick of supporting shitty teams in every sport. It's not great at all, though. Again, playoffs have been the source of every bit of my sports misery. If someone wanted to remove playoffs from Baseball tomorrow I'd be 100 percent in because the Yankees print money and it would be like the fucking 20's again. But playoffs are the reason the Yankees are fucking shit and if I step away from how bemused it makes me it's outstanding that the fucking Royals are the champs. Hell, my baseball team is owned by the American version of Mike Ashley, and it won the title twice in six years, with none of the same players the second time as they dumped everyone who won the first one over the course of the following season. I can see both sides of this argument, but adding playoffs is absolutely the best way to produce unexpected winners/Champions League qualifiers.
  19. Totally agree and some of our fans are part of the problem here, sickened me where I heard of the abuse he got at Watford. For Perez the pressure was off, he wasn't even expected to be a first team player initially, he came in for a very low fee. This lad has had a weight of expectation put on him early on and simply not been given the chance to even try to live up to that. It's the shadow of HBA hanging over all of these players. He blew the doors off Everton in his first start so now the fans expect it from his "replacements." Totally unfair to Cabella and Thauvin, but so it goes...
  20. I assume it's the same people who like Colback, but I can't believe there's a contingent that wants him back. Barely plays at this point and hasn't been any better than "pretty good" in the five years since we shipped him out. Sure, there's a parallel universe where NUFC didn't sell him and he became the next Shearer, but in real life he's a huge waste of time.
  21. Sound piece of business letting this dude go for free. That highlight's more exciting than anything NUFC has produced since he left.
  22. We can over-achieve. Yeah, Alan, you were a real gung-ho motivator when questioning our ability to take down the giants of Morecambe.
  23. I wrote a blog post last week criticizing Colback for his overly safe and slow-paced passing and saying that I saw him as a squad player. Multiple people wrote in to tell me that I had no comprehension of the sport. did my part Thanks, man! Those comments were so ridiculous that I literally sat there a couple nights later and tweeted out chart after chart of other 4-2-3-1 midfielders in the same position (Shelvey, Henderson, etc.) to demonstrate that you don't have to be allergic to the final third of the field when playing that position.
