ive not really followed the takeover thread but i dont get how Moat needs bank loans to take over when he has "financial backing from a property developer, Ben Zion Rabinowitz" also why are we pushing for this bloke to take over when he is needing the club to sell 3 more key players to get bank funding, or do we need to do this even with ashley staying put?

Where would freddy find the other 80 million tho. Well consider he has the ~£65m he was supposedly offering previously. He must have already figured that he can 'afford' the wagebill and has a plan to get us straight back up. £20m down, that gives him a £45m pot to play with for a year - to invest in the manager, the squad and basically make damn sure we make it into the Premier League. From there he could probably attract sufficient funds to pay back the £80m IMO, especially considering the sponsorship deals that are due for renewal at the end of the coming season. This is all very basic and no doubt someone will call me on it, but I'm just saying that it seems feasible. But if we get someone buying us on this buy now 20m pay 80m later does that not worry anyone that it was a huge gamble even with spending say 20m+ on players/management what if we dont go up? sponsorership etc wont cover whats owed what then.. Oh of course. There are no guarantees. But it's the kind of gamble anyone is going to have to take - even Mike Ashley himself. yeah suppose it could attract a buyer who could affored the club outright but would find it hard to stump up that and the cash needed for players to have us challanging on top of that

it says hes only willing to pay 20million now and 80m next year whats that all about, be quite worried if that payment was based on the money we would get from us getting promotion and the money that comes with it edit Ok it dont say that at all ignore me

is it just me or do we always look close to a take over or big take over news on days we sell players? i predict more news when beye slips out the door

Scrape together £8000? there must be at least 10 millionairs in the squad so cant imagine it took much scraping together.

Smart move imo. He has prob about £100million to spend on players this summer, may aswell get Owen for free too. Absolutely - I have had the best laugh in weeks looking at all the posts who derided Owen as a player, now furiously huffing & puffing in trying to justify their stance, now that Fergie looks like signing him. Because nobody in their right mind would be able to portray Fergie as a bad manager, there are now comments about his ego etc..Please... Anything rather than admit that Owen was playing in a crap team, getting no service and, as any intelligent person would be, totally pissed off with the comedy show that was Newcastle United.... Owen will be an asset to Man U if used sparingly, as Fergie doubtless intends to do - he will be getting 100 times better service and support than he did at NUFC and this move will benefit both parties - I am not in the SLIGHTEST bit surprised that this has happened because Fergie, despite his arrogance at times, is still a shrewd and clever manager. Do you honestly think any Newcastle supporter is going to have a positive thing to say about Michael Owen? every fan has the right to hate the bloke, we can blame the the way the club has been ran as much as we want but Owen was being paid 5m+ a year and his total lack of fight and commitment in the last month of the season was embarrassing, this bloke is the club captain and has not said one thing to the fans or media about our relegation. I honestly think Owen regrets not signing that 75k a week contract in September, he would be now on the verge of being paid a fortune by 2 clubs.

Leaving it another few weeks means our best players will leave, we won't have time the remove most of the shit high earners from the side (meaning a shit unmotivated side and the huge wage bill staying in place) and we may not even be able to get a decent manager. It would end up costing the new owners more then they could possibly save on the price of the club. IMO they'd only do that if they have no idea about Football. I think its quite possible that the buyers are holding on until Owen, Viduka etc contracts are up as theres at least a 1 million pound saving if the end of contract payment rumours are true, i know 1-2million is not a huge amount but it would pay 2 players 15k a week for a year, so if it was a case of holding on for 2-3 days then its sensible, but as you say holding on any longer than the middle of this week is just crazy.

Didnt Jewel buy Valencia? wasnt Bruce anyways, He had a decent season with Wigan, got them 11 more points than us so not spectacular, dont see where he gets the tag of finding great new talent, apart from Palacios who he had at Birmingham and Wigan i cant think of any others, Figueroa was ok but he came from the same club as Palacios so hes got lucky there its not as if hes trawled the planet for them He might do OK at Sunderland, but as has been said, as soon as they have a blip over 3-4 games they will turn on him, pretty much like our fans would. It reminds me alot of Big Sam coming to us.
