If ManU had not rejigged their finances just to sign Rooney (i.e. Ferguson knew he couldnt miss out on him), we would have landed Rooney. At the time, Everton were your bog standard lower mid table team with no money and no indication of moving forwards. IMO they had nothing but a dirty side that kicked lumps out of the opposition team, although thats easy to forget now that them and e.g. Blackburn have moved on and play decent football. Right now we'd look back and think Rooney wouldnt move because it would be a sideways step, but at that time we were still a club that had recently been in the CL, we were still in Europe having just finished 5th, and we still had some star players in the squad - i.e. it looked like we merely had a blip as all sides do. Hence, we'd have been a sizeable step forward over Everton at the time. On top of all that, you have the fact that we'd have offered ludicrous wages that even now Everton wouldnt be able to or want to match, just as we did with Owen. Hence, if ManU werent in the picture (as they had led everyone to believe) and the choice was between moving to us on big wages and playing alongside Shearer et al, or staying with Everton for another year, I think he'd have moved, and therefore I dont see how it never would have happened. never would have happened 'cause manu would NEVER have not signed the lad, they were always gonna do what it took to get him, our bid just forced their hand (i take it you've heard the kenwright/shepherd rumour) - BUT in the other universe where ferguson misses out on the third english footballer who is the best of his generation then yeah, perhaps we might have got him but if you think it was possible for even a second you're mental - i'm sure i even remember rooney saying he'd never have joined the club anyways after the event get a grip man We stuck a bid in and took a chance, we had nothing to lose, id be pissed off if i thought the club wouldnt bid for a player of Rooneys class just because they thought someone better might come in for him, as like Arshavin, i dont think we have much chance of getting him but would still like us to put a offer in.

The sun had a small dig at us about round leaving, Saying Keegan had took a huge blow after Dennis Wise had given Steve Round permission to talk to everton
-
The way you are talking is as though Arshavin has no say, he clearly knew that playing in europe for Zenit and then with russia in the summer would get him a move to a big club if he performed, and if not he had the likes of us and Everton to fall back on.

just posting to sign up for the free £100, thanks
-
i think there great - as long as your not involved in anyway!!
-
dont know if i should do this or not, i was offered one but renewed home ST and didnt take them up on it, il miss maybe 2-3 league aways max, if i dont take it up does that mean someone outside the top 1500 gets offered a away season ticket or not. the way it reads is that theres 1500 places and they wont be offerd to anyone else as says you can change your mind at anytime as long as your still in the top 1500
-
i thought there would already be bad feeling towards him? he's been at the club nearly a year and hes yet to kit all the fans out in Sports direct chav trackys !!

well after reading it propley the £1334 i need to pay as a 1 off for 3 seasons seems a good deal, thats £445 a season in the gallowgate, its another 800quid more than i was expecting to spend but then you pay nothing else till 2011 for home league games. i can see the club offering these kind of deals every year to try and keep people at least a season in credit. -
from what i read of it, its pointless, away games are still based on the points system. just saves you filling out and posting the forms

Unless I'm reading this wrong, you're saying they're going to charge interest for paying in installments? That's a fucking joke. so you can pay a extra 148 in intrest to freeze the price of your ticket for the next 2 seasons - that makes no sense unless they are expecting a huge rise in prices in the next 2-3 years -
why does everyone think he would be such a good coach?
-
They have Queen of the south 10-15miles away...if they really want to watch lower league scottish football!! Was a great story dont forget they made the cup final and got into europe, but i dont feel sorry for anyone other than the fans and whoever has lost wages to them..

the more crap clubs that show interest the better, can only help us keep hold of him/make him realise he's lucky to be here

Moreno Tempted By Spurs Switch Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno has admitted he is flattered by interest from Tottenham Hotspur The Bolivian ace starred in the Copa Libertadores, firing eight goals in 10 games prior to Cruzeiros exit at the hands of Argentine giants Boca Juniors. Manchester United have targeted the 20-year-old as a possible replacement for French striker Louis Saha, who faces the axe this summer after an injury-ravaged career at Old Trafford. But Tottenham are the only club to have made a solid offer so far, as they seek attacking reinforcements given likely departures of Barcelona target Dimitar Berbatov and ₤16 million flop Darren Bent. Spurs initial 6 million bid was rejected last week, and Cruzeiro chairman Alvimar Perrella urged them to return with a new offer, insisting the club are willing to sell for the right price. Moreno has confessed he is tempted by the prospect of a move to North London, and said: "I was told about the offer made by Tottenham. "Of course I would like to play in England. But as I said before, I have to like the place where I will be. "The club has to get to an agreement with my agent and from what I know what has been offered wasn't enough." http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=704354 Watched a few Cruzeiro games in the Copa America and cant belive Marcelo Moreno has scored so many goals he didnt stand out in the games i watched reminded me alot of Savo Milosevic !!

-
Dont really get the 3 year thing is it saying you can pay for next season then the following 2 seasons over the next 20 months(based on last seasons price thats about £50 a month in the gallowgate) or as 1 bulk payment
-
Dont know if its been mentioned, but the amount of Man utd fans that have been on TV/Radio today claiming yesterday was the Greatest day of there life - where the hell were they 8-9 years ago on the same day they completed the Treble and played in a far more dramatic final.

http://mbl.is/frimg/4/60/460838.jpg That should have been Ronaldo Hate both teams but Chelsea moaned and surrounded the ref all game so pleased to see them lose it in style!! Can understand Terry's disappointment, but fucks sake have some self respect and keep a lid on it till your away from your rivals - he just looked like a spoilt brat crying !!

Rangers and Celtic will always sell 4000+ tickets thats the only reason they keep getting invited.
-
Hope Sven hangs on to be sacked and costs them millions.

And on the down side every one of them now has European football to offer potential signings whilst we don't. we will just have to target workshy players who want less games.
