I think everything's done and dusted, we just haven't gone public with it yet. Would suggest we're waiting on something ie at today's game or with another signing.

Wouldn't be totally opposed to having him as a 4/5th choice striker - he's better than Smith and Ameobi and wouldn't cost nearly as much.

Pants. Hasn't shown enough going forward for me and puts his defensive skills - which are solid when he doesn't overdo things - to alot less use. He's got good acceleration but doesn't have the pace of Zog or Jonas and from what I've seen is no better when crossing.

I'm not doubting his ability as a player here but as an Enrique fan I can see him shunting Jose to one side which will do little to develop a game that could really come good with more experience. Not disputing the fact that cover is needed for LB but not to the point where Enrique becomes the cover - he's good enough and we could put some of this money elsewhere into a top class playmaker for example. Good to see us looking at players of Taiwo's quality but perhaps not at the expense of the growth of Jose Enrique? I don't know though, perhaps the competition will draw out his best. Guess we'll wait and see.

When he was available he was more or less always in the first team iirc. He's a good player with bags of potential but if he did come I think our midfield would still lack the invention and creativity it needs at the moment. Plus I doubt he'd come cheap and leave without seeing what Hughes can do with City ala Dunne.

Going only by updates but it seems to be a big improvement on the games in Mallorca

Hopefully, would be an ideal signing, good premiership proven player and wouldn't cost too much. I don't doubt he's a good player but I don't think he'd be the right sort of left-back to accommodate Enrique as he'd demand a first team palce and effectively shunt an extremely promising player out of the side.

At least in the Mallorca/Hertha friendlies we've been able to keep possession and pass the ball well, the Hertha game in particular we dominated most of the play and were a bit unlucky to lose. Granted it all went to shit in the final third but that lack of creativity was mostly down to Smith and Ameobi being completely static - with the movement and pace that Owen and Martins will bring back into the team I think Guthrie and the like will be able to be much more inventive in their passing as they'll actually have some darting runs and more valid options ahead of them. Here's hoping for PSV and Valencia we give their defences a real hammering with Owen, Martins, Beye etc back in the frame and see a couple of goals. The 3 new signings all look quite promising as well and great value for money too and I'm dead excited for who else Keegan brings in.

I can see Guthrie succeeding Butt as our DM.

Duff's looked dead sharp so far. Made more of an impact than Milner and Geremi already.

Not a bad first half that, Guthrie and Jonas have been excellent I think. Guthrie's passing has been spot on for the most part and looks very alert and sharp with the ball at his feet - has rode over a fair few challenges with ease. Jonas has been everywhere; seems his lungs know no bounds but also looks like he can pick a pass and beat his man as well as giving good cover for Charlie. On a side note, Smith has done absolutely fuck all. Even Shola's got involved a fair bit, complete waster.

Some nice play down both flanks so far.
