Harper 6 - Had nothing to do. Beye 6 - Solid, dependable, his usual self. Bassong 6 - Same as Beye. He made a few errors but made up for them. Coloccini 7 - Again was very solid, him and Bassong showed what an average footballer Peter Crouch is. Gets an extra point for this performance after all the criticism he's received. Enrique 6 - Was doing fine till he got injured. Smith 6 - Very good from Smith. Tough in the tackle, got himself in scoring positions, only a few passing errors. Butt 7 - Best performance of the season. Did hardly anything wrong all game. Duff 6 - Did well at left back, still got forward, delivery was good. Owen 6 - Did ok, tracked back, worked hard for the cause. Should have buried his chance though. Martins 6 - Same as Owen, always trying, needs to improve in front of goal if we are to stay up. Viduka 6 - Caused them problems, held the ball up well, was unfortunate not to get a goal. Subs: Guthrie 4 - Worst performance of the season from Guthrie. Poor passing, lost most 50/50s and poor to average delivery from set pieces. Jonas 5 - Poor, made no impact on the game whatsoever. Carroll 6 - Shouldn't have come on for Viduka, didn't really cause them problems bar his header. Great at defending corners though. We should have won that game, everyone knows that. They were poor apart from the last 10 mins. We didn't have enough creativity they set their stall out to get a point, and almost got more. Ala Bolton in Keegan's first game back. When Viduka came off we should have gone 4-4-2 and tried to get in behind their defence which will have been tiring near the end. Have to try and get something at Anfield. Anything more than a defeat is a bonus.

Risking it there like.

Exactly, press absolutely love Liverpool. and Get in 2-2 by the way @ Gomes

Im not really arsed as I hate both clubs, but I would rather it was a good honest game of football without controversy rather than top club favouritism. Agreed, I can let poor decisions go if it stops Liverpool winning the title mind.

Am I alone in wanting Man U to win then?
-
I exploded when that went in. Great goal.

Not if you compare Smith's performance with Nolan and Butt's on Sunday.

Harper Edgar Beye Bassong Enrique Barton Guthrie Smith Owen Viduka Martins This is assuming Taylor isn't fit and Enrique is.

Bradford City 0-4 Man Utd. Beckham's corner that Scholes smashed in, was an absolute footballing masterclass from Beckham and co that day. Bosnich G Neville Berg Silvestre P Neville Beckham Keane Scholes Giggs Cole Yorke Scorers: Yorke (37, 40) Scholes Beckham The best Newcastle side I've seen live Newcastle 3-0 Bayer Leverkusen 1-Shay Given; 12-Andy Griffin, 19-Titus Bramble, 30-Steve Caldwell, 35-Olivier Bernard; 25-Brian Kerr, 8-Kieron Dyer, 11-Gary Speed, 32-Laurent Robert; 9-Alan Shearer, 23-Shola Ameobi Ok, so we had a few injuries and it wasn't the best team we've put out, but we absolutely smashed them. I really thought we had a shot at the league that year. Until Man Utd beat us 6-2 at home. Out of curiosity what happened to Brian Kerr?

If we play 4-3-3 it has to be Barton-Guthrie-Smith. Is Enrique back for Monday? If so we can drop the immortal bag of wank that is Ryan Taylor.

Caulkin is a fantastic sports writer, The Times sports section is far better than any other British publication.

Dreading it. If we don't win I will be one extremely depressed human being.

Smith's passing was miles ahead of anyone else that played in the centre of midfield today, I'd hate to see Butt attempting some of the cross field balls that Smith did with ease. Been saying for ages that Smith should start ahead of Butt. Not that Smith's great but at least he's not half dead. Smith isn't great, but he has some quality which Nolan and Butt lack. Until he came on we looked utterly lethargic in midfield.
-
Agreed, especially on the corners. I'm sure every person on this board can get a corner past the first man, and these are supposed Premiership footballers. Its beyond belief. The lack of movement is not surprising when you have statutes like Butt and Nolan in midfield. Shearer has to drop them.

A very high 5. Still think we'll stay up, have to win our home games. If we don't win all 3 it will go to the last game i think.

Harper 5 - Daft mistake for their goal, other than that ok. Beye 6 - Solid. Why he is not our captain is anyone's guess. Bassong 6 - A few mistakes but other than that ok. S. Taylor 6 - Good block to save a goal and tried to make runs and get forward. Gutierrez 6 - Only midfielder in the first half making any attempt at passing and moving Butt 2 - Woeful absolutely fucking woeful. Range of passing is shit. Too slow at covering ground, loses possesion too easily. What does he offer Newcastle United? Nolan 4 - Nolan did try, but he's just not good enough at all. He's tough in the tackle but thats about it. R. Taylor 2 - Why oh why did we trade N'Zogbia for this shower of shite. His delivery is abysmal his passing shocking. The only thing he brings to the table is the long throw. Duff 2 - No pace, no delivery, no enterprise. A terrible waste of money. Carroll 5 - Won a few flick ons, did his best. Marks his man from corners better than Shola. Does whats asked of him, but doesn't offer much quality on the ground. Owen 5 - A low 5, way past his best, tried to make things happen in the first half but was no real threat to Spurs' defence. May trouble teams like Boro and Pompey. Subs Smith 6 - Has a better range of passing than Nolan, Butt and R.Taylor put together. Which is shocking to say he was a makeshift midfielder today. Shot was abysmal like but he could be useful in our remaining games. Viduka 5 - Held the ball up and combined well with Martins. Keeping him fit will be a struggle. Martins 6 - More of a threat than any other of our players troubled there defence and got in behind the centre backs. Clearly ball to hand for the disallowed goal. Terrible decision.
-
Been saying this could be a good idea for a while. Teams like Leeds and Forest do not deserve to be in the Championship.
-
We have been fucking abysmal. Harper, Beye, Bassong, S.Taylor, Carrol and Jonas are doing ok. Owen is trying to make the most of very little, Nolan looks a little better than last week. Ryan Taylor, Duff and Butt do not deserve to be wearing to be wearing the shirt. How hard is it for Taylor and Duff to get it past the first man from a corner. Guthrie and Martins have to come on if we're to get anything from this.
