For Zaki read Hull - incredibly average, surprised a few people at the start of the season, but after lapping up all the plaudits, forgot the matter of being shit and then petered out into nothing.

I'm certain that if Shearer does well and keeps us up, that Kinnear will know 'what's best' is for him to accept a scouting/upstairs role at the club. He will know he'll be hugely unpopular for unseating Shearer, and will also know his health isn't the best. People will hate Kinnear much less if he's just in an upstairs role imo.

Yes, but my point at the time of writing (admittedly not anymore as of revelations that he may never return) was that they wouldn't withdraw it, simply because it's Saint Kinnear we're talking about.

We have enough unemployment during the best of times but during the biggest recession since WW2?, Its obvious why people have the time tbh. Also with the ground in the city centre, there are enough people passing by all day. Most people tend to forget that when they take the piss about all the mongs. It's not as if Sunderland or Boro would have many passers-by with their out of town stadiums, and it's not as if nowt really happens at those anyway.

I don't really think we need to buy a keeper this summer. Harper is a more than adequate first choice, Krul/Forster (on the evidence of what we have seen) seem fine as benchwarmers, and the odd cup game will do them no harm. It's in January or the following summer when we've realised that they're both naff and that Harper is nearly 70 that we need to get a new keeper.

I hope Hughton decides to involve Xisco. On the evidence of the little bits I saw of tonight, he is no worse than Shola, half-fit or whatever.
