So wish I had flown over ffs. And Bruges is the only city in Belgium worth visiting. -

Shame. He was the Belgian Giggs. -
The Liverpool fans I know naturally love Suarez to bits, but even they admit that his constant diving about like a fairy, and whining about every decision actually plays into the hands of their opponents and riles up the opposition fans and referees alike - ultimately to their disadvantage. We'd be saying the same if he was ours. He's as much of a hinderance to his team as he is an absolute genius of a footballer.

Pretty sure he will

Starting the game at RB helped him when he moved into midfield imo. Had he started in the middle, he might have got overwhelmed those first 10-15 minutes when they had a real go at us. The fact that he "warmed up" for the game playing fullback then switching to midfield - rather than coming on as a sub as well - allowed him to keep his composure for the rest of it. -
There was a small glimpse that we CAN play a bit of football and it came at the time we scored. Those last 10 minutes of the half were the best I've seen us move the ball this season. One of those moments where you just want the half to go on. If we had more time we would have scored again and buried the red rabble. Makes you tear your hair out when you know we can play that way, and we spend the other 80 odd minutes half asleep, then defending for our lives. Liverpool are a one man team, and we allowed him all the room and all the space within which to work. Having said that, I can't fault our defending as much as I do our attacking. We were just not dangerous enough, and with players like Cisse, Ba, Ben Arfa and Cabaye that is just unacceptable. So happy to get a point finally at the klan rally (copyright Bontempi), but I can't help knowing we should have taken all 3. Quite comfortably as well.

At least an appeal to reduce the 3 match ban seeing as there was no contact? Does this shit ever happen? And to think De Jong got nothing for breaking HBA. The standard of officiating in the Premier League is just wonderful.
-
Am I the only one who thought he was actually brilliant overall last night? Nothing he could have done about the goal, and one-on-one Suarez can do even the best defender in the world. The fact that we kept giving Suarez the space to operate and run at our center is what exposed Coloccini, but I wouldn't say he was taken to the cleaners etc.. His leadership was spot on as usual, as were some of his interceptions and reading of the play. How I wish he would have scored or set up a goal when running the entire length of the pitch after making a beautiful interception. Was not a red card in a million years.
-
Is there a difference between intent to hurt someone, and intent to foul them? Did Colo intend to hurt Suarez or did he intend to stop him continuing his run? If it's the latter, it's no more than a yellow card, especially as it was near the touchline surrounded by other players. Which it was imo.

You might as well be talking about Sterling's challenge on Cisse. People are asking for consistency.

I'd not label Pardew a "coward" at all. He's certainly afraid of something at the moment. Perhaps he sees in training that our top players aren't in top form, and has prioritized defence. This strategy is what set the ground work for the 5th place finish last season. Having said that, without having the balls to unleash the 433 in the 2nd half of last season, we would have finished nowhere near 5th. Maybe he's trying to replicate last season by getting us to a safe distance from the bottom by the end of the Jan transfer window, then giving it a go? Sometimes it's difficult to remember that managers do actually have to manage the entire season and not just game by game, especially with a squad as thin as ours.
-
Pardew shouldn't have commented on it post match. Should have watched the 1000 different angles that captured the challenge before making a comment, in case we had a case to appeal.
-
If you think Coloccini went in with intent you can fuck off tbh. Imo if he meant it, he wouldn't have missed. Need to see the replay from different angles, but it looked like he thought Suarez was going to turn with the ball to his right and tried to pre-empt the turn with a block.

I disagree. They are a better footballing side than us. Suarez is world class and virtually unplayable at times. Sterling is already a top winger in this league. Allen dictates their tempo very well and both there centre-halves are excellent. There is a spine of a good side there.

To be fair he was their best player in the first half. Did what he's told to do quite well, which is just about nothing
