  1. The question was rhetorical. Just looking at his stats he's scored three in the Championship, one in a friendly, and a hatful in lower league obscurity. In what world does being too good for League One warrant someone paying eight million pounds for you?

I reckon it's a lower initial fee that rises to 8m should they get promoted etc..

  2. The medical staff have only been asked to work until 9pm tomorrow, they don't expect anyone to be coming in but they have been prepped for Danny Simpson to have another medical as he's expected to sign a new contract.  :(  :'(  :weep:

This certainly would be disappointing news

"Hey guys, we tried to get Debuchy but we failed...the silver lining is Simpson is signing a new contract"

This place will f***ing erupt.

Personally, I wouldn't be happy about it with its long-term implications for the RB slot but who knows, could well be a pile of s****

I don't doubt Stifler is genuine about the info he's passed on. It's all over folks. Let's hope we enjoy tonight and look forward to battering Villa on Sunday. HTL

    :cheesy:

  3. May I question what the point was of european qualification if the manager isn't arsed about getting past the qualifiers?

who says he aint arsed about it,.

a lot of fans get confused with 'resting players' and 'managing the squad'.

its quite simple, come sunday, (usually its saturday) we play a premiership team who has had 6 days rest.

if we field our full strength team tonight we would've had 2/half days rest by the time we play the Villa.

im not saying we can't beat the Villa by playing full strength tonight and not bother to squad rotate.  but you get the idea, that the opposition who's had a full 6 days to prepare for the same match compared to another team thats only got a few days, has a distinctive advantage.,, no?

Perhaps not to those words, but he's stated before this isn't one of his priorities

it probably isnt. prem league is always our bread and butter.  would you settle for finishing outside top 8 just to win the europa league?  i dont know.

    I would

  4. Does the new tv money kick in next season? If so, could it be that players like Debuchy and Douglas for example, are holding out until next season in the hope that they could earn more money in wages?

We didn't even get to contract negotiation with them 2 deals

Not the point. The players' agents will know this and will have informed the players they represent about the new tv deal. It's not so hard to imagine players thinking, "why move to England now, when I could possibly get a bigger wage next season" etc..

Plus I'm pretty sure the players and their agents will have a good idea about the range of salaries we'd be looking to offer them.

  5. I think any potential incomings before the window shuts may be reliant on us winning tonight, and qualifying for the Europa League.

If we win, we have that to offer potential signings (should we need to), and we'll know we have additional fixtures to play.

Lose, and the feeling in the club may be that the current squad can cope (certainly until January) with the league and league cup fixtures alone.

Our two main targets are arguably Debuchy and Carroll, and the club probably have some sort of idea/agreement about the personal terms, if as reported both players are keen to join us.

So hopefully if we win tonight, we have tomorrow to try and agree fees and push through a deal or two?

These have been my thoughts over the past two weeks. Let's hope so.

  6. Our transfer strategy appears to be totally dependent on either other clubs massively overpaying for one of our players, or selling excellent players to us for peanuts.

Granted it's actually worked so far, but I have serious doubts as to it's sustainability long term....

It's how Spurs do business somewhat. Always seem to sell for extortionate amounts, and buy for practically f*** all.

    Not really.

Hyperbole, I know. But come on, they could technically end up making a profit having BOUGHT Adebayor

    12/13: £38m spent to date

    11/12: £8m

    10/11: £18.5m

    09/10: £32m

    08/09: £87m

    07/08: £48.5m

    06/07: £49m

    05/06: £34m

    04/05: £16.5m

    03/04: £14.2m

Fuck me, you go the extra mile to prove a point. Fair enough. Now i'm all:

    :okay:
