  1. So today Spurs have managed to convince QPR to pay way over the odds for a player they dont even need and have convinced City to pay over half the salary of a player they desperately need. How the f*** do they do it man?

To be honest, it's not even funny. It's one of the main reasons they're now a damn good club. Constantly rip people off.

And we dont? Look at how much we paid for Cabaye man, it's outrageous given his quality.

It's not really the same. His clause was fair game to other clubs too. We didnt set the price.

  2. Despite his wundergoals in other games still thought against west brom away was his finest hour last season. In that last run it felt players were taking turns to boss games, Cabaye did stoke, Cisse did Swansea  :aww:

That WBA game was something special from the whole team, the pace and urgency in our counter attacks was just amazing.

That first half was the most enjoyable to watch from an attacking point of view out of the whole season. The way Ba, Cisse and HBA linked up, it felt like we were witnessing the start of something very special. I remember even Jonas from his deeper role putting in some killer passes. Would love more of the same please. Especially from our number ten. Makes the working week go quicker knowing you've got the opportunity to watch Hatem at the weekend.

Incredible game that was. In the past few years I've watched other sides conduct swift, precise and lethal counterattacks, and always wished I could see NUFC do the same. We haven't had that since the SBR days. It's fucking beautiful to watch.

Lovely post SMTW and welcome to the forum  :smitten:

  3. Becomes a problem when he plays against City.

Paying a player who's playing for the opposition? Dodgy...

Not really. As they can't exactly say play s*** or we won't pay you.

Say for instance he misses a last minute penalty that hands City the title/cup. Then what? Questions will be asked. Why would the League allow for such a possibility?

It's happened loads of times in the past and nobody has questioned it then, so why now?

When has it happened in the past where a player misses a last minute penalty against a club that's paying half his wages to win them a trophy/3 pts/a place in the next round?

  4. Seriously like, it's pretty obvious we're waiting to find out whether or not we're in Yurop this season before making any more moves. Don't know about you lot, but it's pretty damn obvious to me  :azn:

From which perspective? If you mean that you're waiting to find out if you qualify so that you can spend all that extra loot, then you'll be sorely disappointed  It wouldn't cover half a Dawson. As your man says, there really isn't a lot of money in it (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-boss-alan-pardew-hits-1268823). However, if you're waiting to find out if you need to strengthen the squad, then you probably need to strengthen it anyway.

I think it's waiting to find out whether we need to strengthen further or not. Qualification could also mean off-setting clauses in targets' contracts, or maybe the targets themselves want to make sure we're in Europe before committing. There's a lot we don't know about how transfers work and why, but I reckon European qualification is a milestone after which we'll see some movement. I sincerely don't think we're leaving it all for deadline day, so my theory makes the most sense  :p :-*

Yeah that's the issue. But like I said, it's as if they're paying us 10M in instalments. It's as if they're simply paying us 5M to take him off their hands, and they might be saving that in offsetting amortisation over the last two years of his contract.

I don't know why they didn't structure it as a free transfer tbh.

This way is just... messy, suspicious and stinks of corruption

An equivalent reduction in transfer fee would be the wages Citeh will pay Adebayor over the length of the new contract. Unless the contract is long enough to put Spurs at a profit on the purchase

Amazing how well suited 'Arry was to that club.

It's not really like that though. If he signs a full time contract with THFC, he should have severed all links with MCFC. If there is some kind of arrangement to "pay you to take him off their hands", it should never ever be released in the press.

  8. So City are paying him more than Spurs are, to play for Spurs.

s**** like this shouldn't be allowed. I know there's nothing that can be done but it's s****. Spurs effectively beat us to 4th last season because of a player they were paying f*** all for.

City are cunts, Spurs are cunts, and Adebayor is a grade A cunt. This has really boiled my piss

  9. So City are paying him more than Spurs are, to play for Spurs.

When it's a loan, I understand. But seriously how the fuck is this allowed in professional football? Does it mean he can't face them? What if he scores important goals against them to knock them out of a competition or title race etc.? Has to be bollocks surely!?

  10. According to the BBC, Spurs are paying Adebayor circa £80k/week and because the player was unwilling to take such a pay cut, City have agreed to carry on paying the remainder of his wages there - a further £95k/week. :jesuswept:

They reckon it's a £5m transfer fee, which is pretty f***ing impressive IMO.

That is fucking sickening. How is that allowed in football any how?

  12. Nothing against QPR but i have an irrational dislike of Mark Hughes.

    It's not irrational, the man's a c*** frankly.

The confection made by caramelizing sugar or molasses is speaking the truth

  13. Fired a great shot at home v Spurs last season, against Stoke he had two screamers and at Wolves I remember him forcing a good save as well.

Needs to learn to when to shoot though.

Much rather this than instructing him to stop shooting. He packs tremendous power in his shots, so why not take a punt every now and then? I'd be looking to work with him on timing his shots rather than shirking responsibility to shoot when in a good position to do so.
