i once went to a mackem game pissed out of head with my best mate (who is a mackem). I was wearing my toon top under my jacket and kept on shouting how s*** the mackems were during the game. Some old boy a few seats along thought i was a real passionate fan and started applauding me for the dedication i showed. sat down and said nothing much after that. :-[

He knew KK being brought in would increase revenue and he knew it would be the same way if he got Shearer in. The furthest he is looking ahead is to selling as many players as he can once we go down then selling the club and moving on leaving us in s*** state. I support the hope he represents in rectifying his mistakes and allowing Shearer (or in the event he wants no part of it next season, someone competent) to build this club up again and move us forward. The low ebb we're facing has always been coming after the relative success of the past 15 years. Time to rise up again. Hopefully quietly but confidently, starting next season.
Oh, and let me make it clear that should Shearer not stay on beyond this season, and KINNEAR returns full-time, for me Ashley would deserve no more chances and must go.

Went to the game today hoping they lost. Its unbelievable the atmosphere is s***, They boo their team more than some of our mongs and every song is about Newcastle. Even my friend was embarressed by how many anti Newcastle songs there was. I think they sang a Sunderland based songs three times

Didn't pick this up via the telecast - as i was away from my viewing set, on a couple of occasions - but i refer to the The Independent's post match review.
This observation and i'm paraphrasing ,"Mike Ashley, in the directors box, chuckled as Shearer was teased by the home support with the 'You should've stayed on the telly' chant.
Disappointing to say the very least, if true.
why is it disappointing when Shearer himself acknowledged the kop, came out of the dugout, and gave them a wave and a smile? :omg: MIKE CHUCKLED!!

Samuel Eto'o may be on his way to Man City.
Even though Eto'o has said he wants to stay, there is only a year left on his contract and Barca may well think this is to much money to say no to, especialy if they do sign David Villa.

Don't want to turn this thread about Duff tbh, but out of our under-achieving lot, he is probably the one most likely to revive his career under proper guidance and management. Since he's been here we've had Roeder, Allardyce, Keegan, Kinnear and now Shearer. He's an experienced player, and although his legs have gone, a good manager could still use his footballing intelligence in a stable side.

before monday i thought 7 points would probably keep us up. 1 down 6 to go. more worrying was the performance. apart from the back 4 we were all over the place and played with the desperation of a championship club a goal down to a prem club with 10mins left of a cup tie.

I like Guthrie, but he was poor yesterday and I really want Barton back in the team, as he is without a doubt our best midfielder when in form (which he probably won't be, still reckon he's the best even when not match fit). Think we'll need Jonas to carry the ball for us, he'll help us take a bit of pressure off the defence. Might be a bit harsh on dropping Smith, thought he looked one of your best players yesterday, he even took a couple of shots, more than he did all of last year tbh.

Are you f***ing serious? They couldn't fight their way out of a f***ing wet Echo. For all Shearers chest beating, they are playing like a side who have already given up. Put it like this, if the mistakes we made last week against Arsenal had been against them, the final score would have been 4 - 0 to us. They're absolutely s**** and we will f***ing batter them. I don't just believe it, I know it. Rafa and Dirk will be on the touchline giving it the old "game over" gestures after about 20 minutes, after which they'll do a quick "Let's Do The Time Warp Again" topped off by Gerrard and Torres doing a nice little "Hey Macarena." The f***ing state of those useless clueless twats, if they parked the bus, they'd probably park it in a f***ing disabled bay and get it towed away.
