Its a sad reflection on football when you have to have a ring master starting songs before kick off. Oh how football and its fans have fallen.

He was also never interested in managing us when we were in strife before Keegan rescued the club out in the early 90's, never used to mention how he 'bled black & white' or wanted the job when he was coveted by top european clubs.
So what? He was in the thick of a highly successful international career!
So I was proving how he's always done what's suited him.
Howay man, I'm not claiming SBR to be the Geordie mother theresa! It's one thing to do what's best for yourself, and another to stick to a commitment you have made. When was SBR ever out of a job and turned us down? All those times he wouldn't come, he was tied down to a contract some place else, and was simply fulfilling his commitment.
If he really loved us as claimed he would have came when offered the job at Barca. Don't give me any of this he was under contract stuff, as it expired at the end of that season. If he'd have thought that they were going to shaft him and bring Van Gaal in he would have left there and then. He probably assumed that he could have got an extension on his contract. I love him but please don't tell me he hasn't always done what suited SBR first.

People will cry their hearts out and weep uncontrollably when Redknapp comes back in for him and he joins Spurs on the cheap and puts in legendary performance week after week when he is in a team that can pass the ball effectively.

Anyone critisizing this guy clearly doesn't understand how ill suited he is to our tragedy of a team where not one other player has even a tenth of the ability or heart that he does.

I'm in full agreement that he is not suited to this team. In order for him to be a success in this type of a team (:lolz:), he needs more awareness and intelligence about him. Unfortunately, he is not much of a thinker and relies too heavily on his athletic ability and silky skills.

Anyway, how convinient that a court in Mallorca has ruled in favour of Mallorca, surely we should apeal, I mean we've played to the rules here, why should we pay compensation?
He was one of the only players trying to move into positions to get the ball, bought us some freekicks by going on good runs with absolutely no support around him what so ever. Not sure what he really could do in that disgrace of a team. But like I said obviously he's the new scapegoat so I'll just leave you lot alone to get on with it.
When he hasn't got the ball, and we're attacking, he is NEVER arsed. Countless times this season he had the opportunity to show for it in the final third, or overlap the full back, instead standing there close to the ball carrier, and looking around. He needs to change this aspect of his game otherwise he is totally worthless.
Having had the chance to see him in action all season now, I would've told Mallorca and Velez to fuck off, and sent him back. Much he-do about nothing tbh. Not questioning his quality, but he has been the totally wrong type of signing for this club this season.

duff/smith/viduka/butt all put in a shift last night but we're totally toothless upfront, we could have had it wrapped up by half time if we could finish, or actually try to shoot at the goal. we did seem to rollover when viduka went off like, seemed a bit clueless after that
That's because pound for pound, and when up to full fitness, Mark Viduka is the best player we have at the club.

Conversely he may have thought that whilst inthe short term it would cause turmoil, that the club had ample time to steady the ship and progress with the season.
Fair enough. Point is though, he put Kevin Keegan before the club. Fair do's to him, don't get me wrong. I'm just not going to hold him up on a pedestal and worship him for it.

We've got another 4 games to go, we're one win from being out of the relegation zone, shut the f*** up and leave the finger-pointing until after the end of the season. Whilst it's still mathematically possible we've got to support the team and hope against hope we are still in touching distance when Boro come to St James'. Hull and Boro have pretty tough next fixtures too, after which us and Boro have 3 games we could conceivably get something from, Hull have two. We are level with Boro and 3 points behind Hull. Lets worry about that.

Samuel Eto'o may be on his way to Man City.
Even though Eto'o has said he wants to stay, there is only a year left on his contract and Barca may well think this is to much money to say no to, especialy if they do sign David Villa.
It's not a dig at you personally MJ, but I think you'll find that nobody on here gives a fuck at this particular moment in time.

I'd agree with that. He looks like he wants the ball and wants to try things. Definitely one of our better players last night.
We struggled to find a shape last night, and the longer the game on, the more ragged we became. A lot of people have pinned their hopes on 4-3-3 with Owen in a free role, but the players didn't seem to have much confidence in it last night.
Owen is good at drifting into scoring positions from deep, but he doesn't create anything for his team-mates, which is a major part of what you expect from someone in that free role. He fluffed the one chance he had, which Martins was in a position to get anyway. It's like playing with 10 men, but unlike last season, the other 10 are short of form and confidence and we're not getting away with it.
My major concern at the time of Shearer's appointment was that he would stick with Owen no matter what, and unfortunately I think it's a mistake that's going to scupper what chance we had of staying up.
Agree with your point about Duff. Could well be putting himself in the shop window for next season mind.
Re: Owen, I'd drop him big style. I would have played Martins behind Viduka and Carroll last night. Martins playing deep, with his pace, would have pulled the Portsmouth defence completely out of shape. Owen playing there totally nullified any attacking threat we had. Not only is he low on confidence, but he is weak as a weak streak of piss and won't shoot from range. He takes a full working week to turn and his play is rushed.
Shearer should listen to his own words me thinks. He says Owen isn't scoring because we're not creating much for him i.e. not creating incisive chances to put the ball on a plate for him. Well then big Al, if we're creating nowt then keep Owen off the pitch and play someone who will bust a gut to make something out of nothing.

Ah yes, my bad. Edited to the right one now, I blame the all-nighter for my absentmindedness.
Think the game will be insanely tense at kick-off. Then 20 minutes in, both sets of fans will be reminded of the shower of poo they have been watching all season and I think the atmosphere for the rest of the game will be great banter.
