  1. Does anyone think its about time we go with a foreigner? Now, this is not a knee-jerk reaction from this game, its something I've been thinking about for a while now. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the only two foreign managers we've ever had have been Guillit and Ardiles- and neither turned out to be spectacular. Since, we've had a mixture of British managers, and bar two of them, they've all been painfully mediocre. But people seem to have a tendency to sway towards a homegrown manager because they 'understand what the club means to the fans' etc. But is it time we drop that attitude and maybe take a gamble on a foreigner? New ideas, new methods etc etc. You never know, our injury situation might improve- we've seen it before with smart new managers from abroad bringing in dazzling conditioning and treatment methods. I'd much prefer a manager that emphasises more on the technical side of the game rather than your old-school charlies like Allardyce and Kinnear who fancy players like Nolan, Butt and Kevin Davies etc. You know, the ones that have little or no skill but can clog the shite out of you. We've seen Zola rapidly improve West Ham and Martinez has got Swansea playing some really good stuff as well, and 3 of the 'top 4' managers are foreign. Still, there are the likes of Roy Hodgson, Moyes, O'Neill, Bruce etc. who've done very well and I'd welcome with open arms. But the big question would be, who the heck would we bring in? At this moment in time although we are not mathematically relegated, we are staring relegation from the Premiership straight in the face, and what top class, respectable....decent manager would want to break his bollox to come over to England to work with a mad-house club like us? No one. So obviously survival and getting rid of our current owner would have to happen first to stop us ending up with the new Christian Gross. A young, hungry manager who's proven he could have, or does have what it takes to manager at the highest/second highest level. Sadly enough, I don't think Ashley has too many mates abroad... I'm more than content with Shearer at the moment. As I said, this isn't a knee-jerk reaction from tonight's result. If we go down then I'd be more than happy with Shearer at the helm. I think the bloke's got a lot to learn and a while to go yet until he proves himself as a capable manager, but from what I've seen I've been happy with. We don't give up near as easily anymore, he's installed a bit of self-belief and confidence in the lads- they pass the ball on the deck, no hoofing- and most importantly, has brought a lot of much needed professionalism to the club, thank god. Anyway, opinions...
  2. Completely different. totally agree. red AND WHITE is faaaaar worse. thats sunderlands colours FFS!!!!! Oh yeah!!! I thought we were just saying that red doesn't suit Derek as a tie colour. Good point....The....Libertine. *Makes a note*
  3. Owen also got in Andy Carrol's way for a header. I thought that was the other way around tbh. Owen was the one coming in from a better angle. Can't blame Carroll though. No point in blaming either of them for that. Carroll didn't score and Owen probably wouldn't have as well.
  4. Reminded me of bolton actually. I feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel gooooooooooooooooooooooooood Bad, I'll grant you - but that fat bloke's far worse. No he is fuucking not! edit- and dont you have that fat c*** waddling up and down the touchline with a flag as well?!! C'mon, man....get real Aye and he'll be waddling up and down the line in the PL next season too. Which is more than can be said for the Top Chanter. Maybe so, but I'd be much more embarrassed by your antics than ours. Much more. It'd be alright if you could fill your stadium but...
  5. Look at the celebration of the lad from Reggina's first goal- thats passion for you. He looked happy aye! Better than tossers like C.Ronaldo and Berbatov etc. looking like its a punishment almost when they score. Cant stand that sort of thing. Aye that was a proper italia 90 (megadrive) celebration.
  6. IF, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, IF, if, if, if, if, if, if, if.......
  7. Go on, go for it- put us on a 9.

  10. There's more chance of us winning 3-0 at Villa on the last day. I'm not joking btw. If we can still stay up on the last day, ill be taking about 6 sleeping pills and waking up about a week later when its all over. Not sure if I could handle those kind of nerves on the last day same
  11. I thought he was good until he started that "there's only one Alan Shearer" bollox
  12. Could you imagine the anger and abuse we'd get if we survived on goal difference? There would be a national mourning for Hull or whoevers place we took.
  13. Yeah, but if we were a bit luckier in front of goal we could have beaten them in the first 30. Too true.
  14. Look at the celebration of the lad from Reggina's first goal- thats passion for you.
  15. If Portsmouth were a team with any real ambition, or had a manager with any sort of tactical nouse, they could've beaten us in the last 15 mins.
  16. Current feeling: http://i40.tinypic.com/1toi8n.jpg
  17. I was thinking this too. Maybe Barton might have a different attitude. But tbh, if anyone thinks that Joey fucking Barton will save our season then, well.....thats just laughable, isn't it?
  18. There's more chance of us winning 3-0 at Villa on the last day. I'm not joking btw. I think we'll knick a draw against Villa.

    Just think..

I think this thread should be deleted due to its depressingness.
  20. What has this club come to? We're in ruins, man......ruins.
  21. Good post. The beeps on our life support machine are getting slower and slower. This club is dieing.
  22. Course he is mate. He warned Ashley and the fans that the club didn't have enough quality players and that the squad wasn't big enough. Of course it was so obviously all Keegans fault. PS/... If KK had been given his own way, we would be comfy in mid table you fuckin spanner. probably higher. Aye, I'd say nearer to 8th (roughly) if he was given proper backing. But please, lets not start this again.
  23. Sadly I cant see us getting rid of more than that. Why are people desperate to get rid of fans? Surely 25,000 "fair weather" fans is better than 25,000 empty seats? Am not saying it would be good to lose them, just saying its probably the only thing this club will lose.....that has any value or importance to it. Then again, it must be pretty shit being a 'fairweather' Toon fan
  24. Martins is worse. That boy is a f***ing donkey. We have a choice between two strikers who don't score, except one of them jumps and runs about and sprays around horrible passes while he's at it, while the other is just invisible. Martins is a million times more frustrating to watch. He's a f***ing arsehole. How is Owen any less fustrating when the only thing that justifies is his presence on the pitch is his non-existent ability to score chances that fall to his feet? Because at least when he does get the ball in a non-scoring position he keeps the shagging thing. Martins however has absolutely no vision and no football intelligence. He would struggle with a 15 yard pass, like.
