    Arsenal

Who would you have replace him? I've thought about it several times, and while I'll admit my knowledge of foreign coaches is somewhat limited, I can't picture anyone to come in and do a good job. Where would Wenger go from here? Technical role with French National Squad? Think someone mentioned PSG on here which seems a good shout. National squad as well would be viable. As for who to replace him - not a clue!

    Arsenal

The issue with Wenger and Arsenal is separating what he has done for them in developing them as a club, and their recent lack of achievements. Wenger will be - and should be - seen as a revolutionary for Arsenal Football Club. But I'm not sure how you can see past their consistent failures in recent years. This isn't one bad patch. It is over 6 years without a trophy and more alarmingly for them, they don't look like winning one anytime soon. They've seriously regressed and as much as Wenger should be praised for what he's done for the club, you can't just magically look past him when they're struggling. Consistent stubbornness and poor signings - those are his responsibilities, not to mention an insane loyalty in mediocre youngsters. Thank you Mr Wenger for helping to deliver some superb football to watch for the netural, but for Arsenal, a parting in the ways is long overdue.
  3. Not currently delivering. Still got big hopes for him but I can only assume he has some sort of confidence issue. He has the look of a top-class player for years to come but often doesn't get on the ball and move with it and spray it about nearly as much as he should. Signs of him improving thus far this season but he needs to do an awful lot more before I'd be playing him for England. That said, if Henderson can get a cap... I thought he'd been doing alright, but I'll admit I haven't seen a great deal so you'll probably have a more accurate impression of him. Must have more about him then players like Henderson and Barry though? Not sure it's possible not to have more about yourself than those 2.
  4. Nah just hoy all your bets in here. Best to keep the thread in this section as the overwhelming proportion of bets are footy-related.

  6. Because he's bitter. After both himself and his stupid agent were deluded enough to believe Arsenal would even consider signing him. Given that he's the captain of a team that's just lost 6-0, maybe he should be paying attention to problems nearer home. I do wonder whether he's got his eye on a career in the media after his retirement. As with the example of Robbie Savage, the TV people seem to be going for a 'personality' who can be a bit 'outspoken', within reason. Talking crap or talking in cliches is not a disqualification. He definitely seems to be angling for something in the media after he's finished playing. Him and Robbie Savage to have a show together They could name it Savage Barton: Truly Deeply Mad. This deserves recognition.
  7. Some people are interested in certain former players and how they're doing. Barton's quite the character.
  8. Mario Frick's playing, get in. It's like an evolution of Andy Selva. He's going to rip shit up tonight.
  9. Supporters of the club he left a little over a month ago? Just a guess.
  10. The concept of me winning anything involves a lot of dreaming - it's all I have! Edit: bet crumbling time. Oh well, only had a fiver on.[/pretendinglikethatmakesitbetter]
  11. Unfortunately looks like it, but plenty of time for things to change.
  12. I know it's Liechtenstein, but Scotland 2/7 away? Err, no thanks.
  13. Charlton vs Tranmere is on 5 Live, and it sounds like Tranmere are actually much the better side and just then should've been 2-0.
  14. Very interesting read that. Very candid about his flaws but as I'm sure others hope, hopefully he's finally got the rest of his life back on track.
  15. No real surprise. The Premier League is considerably better than the Eredivisie.
  16. 4 folds from: Huddersfield Sheff Wed Colchester Shrewsbury Charlton soz'ard

  18. Er, no we're not. It's a lot more about us "fuckers" thinking you're mental. And get it clear - it's not the prediction of you winning that's the issue. It's the somewhat psychotic comparison of teams.
