Aye, I'm having the odd difficulty. For example, there's this text: "The N-O Heavyweight Championship: NE5 Vs. The WORLD Thread" that keeps appearing at the top of the forum.

Just not smart, even for you...

Lump on Chelsea... I haven't like, but I think they'll be far too strong for Arsenal. Probably won't be the last time Arsenal make me look foolish this season...

Yakubu, yes, brilliant player IMO. Ashton, if fit is a quality player, but keeping him fit is the problem & we dont exactly have a good record of keeping injury prone players fit. Similar to Owen in some respects, does nothing for 90 minutes but can still score the all important goals that win games. His problem is his work ethic really. Very true. Just think that he would be a good signing for us, especially under JFK because he is strong and good in the air, just an all round better player than Ameobi, seeing as though he doesnt look like changing his style of play now. Not like Everton are going to sell him like!! He has all the attributes to be a top Premier League striker but his lack of work ethic mean at times your essentially playing with ten men. So if you get a manger who would motivate and inspire him, yes he'd be a very good signing. Having said that he'll still guarantee you goals at the end of the day.

In the set of circumstances we face it is probably the correct decision. What were you expecting Shearer to ride in on his white horse and save us from the clutches of a relegation dog fight? Kinnear isn't an amazing manager, in fact he's anything but. He's slow to react in the dugout, he tends to flap his mouth a bit too much and generally the team is playing with a lot of inconsistency. However, with the club yet to be sold, a volatile fan base and an unsettled squad, who in their right mind would want the job? We're only going to be stuck with another interim manager who will be nothing more than a side step from Kinnear. Until Ashley sells this club we are never going to get a manager with anything about him. Therefore it surely makes sense to just leave Kinnear be. The squad know him, he knows the squad and despite his apparent weaknesses we're still grinding out the odd result. Will it be enough to keep us afloat? Who knows? It's really a question of will the side that beat Villa and drew with Chelsea turn up more often than the one that fucked up against Fulham and Wigan.

Some of the reactions on here have given me a right good chuckle, sometimes I wonder if this fan base gets what it deserves.

Erm lets see... Freddy Shepherd visits St. James Park to see if things are still in order, upon opening his office door he find Mike Ashley boffing wise over the desk. He quickly rushes out of the stadium and tries to repress what he just witnessed. However at Christmas time, after one too many at his local, Freddy can't hold back and spills the inicident to a bloke wearing a dishcloth on his head. Recalling what happened last time an incident of similar stature occured Freddy rings Mike telling him everything. Mike is furious and quickly gets his team to unearth the youngest and most deadly hitman around, Nile Ranger. Nile quickly dispatches Freddy and an innocent student in fancy dress much to Ashley's delight. Others weren't so happy, one fan in the NE5 vacinity even took his own life. Nile arrives at the stadium to collect his reward only to find Ashley won't offer him a reward. Nile storms out of the stadium seeking revenge. Later that week Ashley and his recruitment team were one-by-one murdered in drive-by incidents. With a wall of fear surrounding St. James' Nile quickly established himself as chairman. Nile appoints Dizzy Rascal as manager and the clubs recruitment drive of talented young R and B stars kicks into full gear. It's all going well until Damien Duff, Alan Smith and Nicky Butt are all found stabbed to death on the training ground forcing the club to withdraw from the Premier League for a year forcing lots of Newcastle's supporters to cheer for other local clubs, taking their shit to other message boards. The following year the world's first zillionaire invests his cash into the club buying out Nile and co. Keegan is quickly restored as manager and Newcastle begin to rebuild for the followiing season.

It's a good job it's just the mods who can change thread titles. If it had of been me I'd off changed the title, looked up your IP address, tracked you down and I'd of shaken you until that ten second of my life you just wasted fell out of your senseless head.

Guardian: Shearer clears way to become Newcastle manager
The Prophet replied to thewellander's topic in Football
It's a win-win situation if it's true. If he comes in, does well, and we start progressing we're laughing tea cakes. If he comes in and does shite then it gets him out of the system for good. -
Solano, Emre or Dyer, providing they were on pay as you play contracts. We badly need people who can retain the ball in midfield. I'm unsure why people are picking Parker to be honest.

Think your being a bit harsh on grant there. People keep harping on about his Chelsea days but you've got to remember he's been a manager since 1980-odd. He turneed Hapoel Tikva from minows into title contenders, breaking the dominance the Maccabi clubs had on the Israeli league. He later managed both of the Maccabi clubs with a fair bit of success. People will judge him on his short spell with Chelsea but its worth noting the man has put a hell of a lot into Israeli football. so? it means nowt Aye, twenty-odd years in professional football management counts for nothing. I'm pretty sure there are other managers in other random European minnow leagues who have 20 odd years in football management (say in norway, sweden, cyprus, poland, bulgaria, etc...) Why go for someone who's done it in Israel and not someone who's been managing for quite some time say in Holland or Germany or France? Would you take Christian Gross as manager for example? What about Jacques Santini? Guy Roux maybe? I love it when an argument gets blown out of all proportion. I wasn't saying just because he has a good record in Israel we should appoint him. I was simply saying it is worth pointing out he has that experience in his favour. Fair enough. But so do Barry Fry, Bryan Robson, Terry Venables, Tony Pulis and Joe Kinnear! Just to clarify, it's not ONLY Grant's record that puts me off him, it's also his zero personality. He would not be able to handle the club in the state it's in. Exactly, of course there is better out there, but how are we supposed to attract better at this very moment in time? I'd take Grant over Kinnear every day of the week. It really depends whether Grant is in it for the short or long term in my opinion...

It's a bit of a no-brainer really, who would you realistically prefer? The irony of it all is that he'd have fit perfectly into Ashley's system. He's worked under a director of football and is well known for giving the young lads a chance.
-
Which was my point really, the league hasn't settled yet at all. Once it does I think they'll struggle to pick up results.
-
I honestly think it will be that kind of margain again this year. The league hasn't settled down yet. West Brom are fucked in my honest opinion, they just don't have enough to stay in the league, simple as that. Then you start to look at the other contenders: I think both Bolton and Stoke will struggle on the road but will pick up points at home due to their rough-house tactics. Fulham as always will be down their. Hull have given themselves a great chance but will gate-crash the scrap. Sunderland look good bets to struggle as well as ourselves. If we continue to pick up results at home, as well as the the odd away result and I think we'll keep our heads' above water
