Ashley Cole was mint for about 10 years, Irwin similar, so how does Irwin have the longevity over him?

League Cup Trophy Celebration: Saturday 29th March
Geordie Ahmed replied to Nobody's topic in Football
A lot of waffle to say we have stopped it but the backlash means we are trying to make it happen I find it strange how other clubs manage to hold parades yet we are still trying to work it out -
Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

For such a fat mess he has the thinnest skin going -
I agree If anything I see more light being shone upon Saudi Arabia, certainly more than ever before, so if the idea is to hide their crimes then buying us wasn't the way to go about it But maybe the Newcastle glasses I'm wearing means I'm missing something

I still can't get over his transformation, it's been utterly insane It was already complete well before this game but this was the cherry on top, he's cemented club legend status with that performance (as have a few others)
-
He has had a bit of an underwhelming season, which stood out more due to how good Hall has been but my word he was magnificent yesterday Just the complete full back performance Not expecting that every week but hopefully he can get close to that level on a consistent basis

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
Geordie Ahmed replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
And seeing his reactions was bloody worth it He's always on it and thinking about the next game but chuffed he can enjoy this moment, the International break had come at a wonderful time For those that backed Howe from the start and never wavered despite some poor results/performances at times this does feel a bit extra special I know it's petty but I've been active in bringing up comments in various whatsapp chats where some said his time was up and that he has no plan B etc etc, I considered being the bigger man and ignoring it but felt those people had to be shamed so that when we do have a bad run in the future they can not be so hasty Knowing what he's like he won't settle for this, he'll be working his socks off to make sure this is just the start We are so lucky to have him and I hope he's here for a long, long time My gaffer 😎 -
[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS
Geordie Ahmed replied to 54's topic in Football
I've had a couple of people say it's a tin pot or very minor trophy My reply is there's nothing minor about winning a trophy where we had to beat the currently 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed Premier League sides Not sure how many of the past League Cup winners can say that -

Still in disbelief Over 30 years supporting this club and whilst the hope has always been there (sometimes barely hanging by a thread) at times I have considered maybe it will never happen and that's just meant to be This emotion is something new, it's unique, difficult to describe but I bloody love it Just going to consume as much content as possible over the coming weeks And lastly, this feels like the beginning and I can't wait 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍 -
He was magnificent, plenty of other mint performances but he was MOTM for me

Fulham away to Arsenal and then home to Liverpool after this game so hopefully that's two blanks for them Been a canny weekend of results for us

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
Geordie Ahmed replied to Rich's topic in Football
Why would that be the case? As we'd no doubt want Europa League as an absolute minimum -
The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
Geordie Ahmed replied to Rich's topic in Football
Last week there was a lot of doom and gloom as results went against us but I said then that we will have weekends when it goes our way, today has been good and we just need Arsenal to win tomorrow to make it a good weekend If we can then go on a run we'll give ourselves a very good chance of making CL Brentford next in the league for us, strangely they've went from being mint at home but poor away to now poor at home but mint away, so not going to be an easy game -
Only if Arsenal beat Chelsea tomorrow But it's been a canny day of results for us
-
Get in, Bournemouth lose Good result for us
-
Poor from Kepa
-
Get in, Brentford level
-
That's terrible from Janelt
-
Damn, Bournemouth take the lead
-
Brentford have got themselves into a decent position a few times now, just the final pass has been awful

My initial reaction was that 65k is too little and I think we should be aiming for 75k But no doubt the club have looked at the data before arriving at that number, they aren't daft enough to leave a lot of revenue out there Having a quick look at others and the Bernabeu is 78k, Allianz is 75k, expecting us to be in the ball park of clubs that absolutely dwarf us is probably a bit naive
